"We came here on a Wednesday around 5:30 pm and it was pretty dead (Padres game had started at 5:30). I loved the homey casual vibe and that it has large doors open so it is well ventilated. I loved their Mango michelada and the food was surprisingly delicious! I had the pretzel bites which were pillowy soft (and baby approved) and the brisket sandwich on a toasted baguette. The meat was tender and flavorful with the Chimichurri sauce and pickled onions. My baby loved the mac and cheese! When it was just us, they forgot the pretzel bites so we had to go remind them. Otherwise, service was friendly and attentive."
"Came here for trivia and it was great! They have seating inside and outside, a small menu of food and beverages - I got a pizza and it was delicious. Overall great experience!"

Our kolsch was not intended to have tangerine or pine notes." I got the idea for how the flavor features were to be on Untappd and it makes more sense with how the flavor profile was other than the metallic aftertaste at the bottom of the can, top of the glass that it was poured into."
"Top 5 restaurants I've tried in San Diego. I don't know if I've had bar food this good. PB Alehouse is a large bar/restaurant with a rooftop eating area as well. The place is a combination of college kids and families. We decided to sit on a booth on the bottom floor dining room, which was very comfortable. Our server was Morgan. Morgan was beyond impressive. Such a sweetheart. Really helpful with menu suggestions, and quite attentive especially given the crowded nature of the alehouse. We started with the Fried Calamari. It was really good, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The chipotle aioli on the side was a hit. We also got some French Onion Soup, which was one of the best FO soups I've ever tried in my life! Melty cheese and really authentic tasting broth. My Mom got the Short Rib Plate. OMG, I was so mad I didn't get this. I had a bite and it was absolutely delectable. Melt in your mouth meat, buttery mashed potatoes, soft carrots, and delicious au jus and horseradish sauce. My Dad got the Fish Tacos which we all agreed were really good. I got the Steak Frites which were phenomenal. My steak was perfectly cooked and the fries were crispy. We ended with a delicious Chocolate Cake. Perfect amount of sweetness. We will definitely be back when in San Diego. PB Ale House will be highly recommend to my AZ friends who visit Cali."
"Brewery with their own kitchen?! Brunch on the weekends?! Non-beer options such as wine, cider, hard kombucha, and coffee?! This place has it all. One of my favorite spots to frequent when I want a meal with a drink. Their brunch goes until 2pm and that gravy is bomb. Favorite thing ordered so far has been the chicken and waffles.Cute vibes and lots of seating for indoor/outdoor. Dogs allowed and sometimes there can be a pup per table - no complaints here!Service is always great. Everyone is so nice and food comes out pretty fast. The only thing I realized that doesn't happen at this spot is they don't offer splashes for you to taste before you buy a full pour. A little sad since you can only purchase full pours (no tasters).Parking can be a hit or miss. At most, you'll circle for a few minutes."
"Always enjoy trying out the breweries in San Diego! The latest one was Duck Foot Brewing. With this brewery experience Steve and I had the Kook Slams, an IPA which was pretty good. It was a solid installment to our brewery adventuring. Flavor highlights to expect with this beer is hoppiness, sweetness with a definite dankness presence. The body of this beer is fairly creamy but still is a fairly light IPA which I can appreciate. Had a good time with my first beer experience with this brewery."
"I like where this place is located. There is indoor and outdoor seating and it's quite the social environment. The bartender, Sean, was really outgoing. I enjoyed conversing with him, he knew what beer to recommend and he allowed tastings. This business is all-inclusive giving the feeling of acceptance and appreciation. It is certainly a 'no judgement' zone. One of the attributes to this bar is that it is dog- friendly. They ask you if you want to have your dog's photo taken and they put the photo on the wall. So there is a wall full of photos of different dogs and I found that pretty cool. My dog made the wall of fame. I found the Valkyrie Double Hazy IPA to be tastey. The red dawn was really good as well. I can't wait to come back. Thanks for the hospitality, Little Miss Brewing!"
"Came here with some coworkers after work, during Happy hour (Mon - Fri 3-6) you get a $1 off pints which is a pretty good deal. I got a flight with the tropical Hefeweizen, Mocha milk stout, Piloncillo Brown, and the OathkeeperThe Tropical Hefeweizen was nice, i purposely chose beers with low IBU's (international bitterness units) This was a nice hefe, but it was dry hopped so there were hints of that hoppy/pine tree taste that you get with IPA's but not the bitterness. A very refreshing but not bitter beer, its a perfect name for the beer.I loved the Mocha Milk stout very smooth and rich with chocolaty notes. The Piloncillo Brown was good but i preferred the Mocha Milk Stout, i bet if i drank the brown before the milk stout it would have tasted better. The Oathkeeper is a Russian Imperial Stout with 12% ABV, phew! I was afraid this was going to be too high alcohol content for me, but it was very flavorful and robust and turned out to be my favorite of the night.Staff is really friendly and the space is nice and clean, theres parking along the street but also a lot behind the place too. They don't have a kitchen but they do sell snack size bags of chips and similar items. The place is clean and has a cool vibe, very easy to chill and relax."
"Cool brewery in the heart of Encinitas.Great location and very swanky brewery. Nice big open space concept inside with big front window that fully opens and brings fresh ocean breeze inside. There is designated seating are outside the brewery as well. The atmosphere was very relaxed and mellow. Bar staff was friendly and mingled with random guests. The choice of music help the evening ambiance even more. They offer good selection of beers. You can sample IPA, Ales, and few lagers. Definitely good place to come back to."
"Deft Brewing is one of the vendors at The Garten. They have seating inside, but you can also sit outside in the community patio. My friend ordered a couple of beers to try and one of them was sour. We were checked on to see how everything was going. It's a cool spot to grab a beer after work!"
"We stopped into the OB Brewery for just one while enjoying a Saturday in OB.We ordered at the bar on the ground floor and then took our beverages up the stairs to the top (3rd) floor outdoor, rooftop patio.Beautiful views and I enjoyed a really good house beer, B. Right On pale ale although it could've been served at a colder temperature. OB Brewery does not brew a hard seltzer so Bex settled for whatever it was that they had in the fridge. There was no table service, not sure when that starts on weekends. We were there around 1:00 PM. There was only the one girl beertending on the ground floor. If we wanted a second round, we would've had to take the stairs all the way down, then wait in line for our drinks, then climb the stairs back to the top."
"I was here on Friday night and there were plenty of open seating but seating is limited. Looked like it was dog friendly inside as well, which is a huge plus! Plenty of beers on tap, was able to find something I like, even though I'm not a fan of beer. I really liked the Mango fritz and service was attentive. Street parking only so you may need to park farther away. They also have specials on certain days. I would recommend trying this place out at least once."

Stumbled upon this place after the Padres game, so decided to grab a quick pint. A very interesting place to say the least. The beer list had a lot of variety (we tried the Seal Cove) and there is a pool table with lots of sofas in that room and a single golf themed arcade game near the bar. The bar area and music being blasted reminded me of a new wave, techno club. Not sure what type of crowd they are trying to attract, but it was pretty dead after the game. Getting nipped by a little yapper dog that was jumping up on people as they ordered beers and a sign trying to entice positive Yelp ratings by offering a discount on your tab (if you showed them your rating) really turned me off. One beer (which wasn't that bad) and we headed out.

Enjoyed a Friday evening here after the work week. The flight ordered was crisp and cold. There was a cream ale somewhere in there along with a hef. The Hawaiian pizza was a surprise. It didn't look like it had a lot of protein to it but the little pieces of ham actually packed a punch along with the pineapple jam. WL is a good offset to the bigger chains of breweries in this area as it is a bit smaller but a great competitor.

I'm still amazed it took us this long to visit Eppig. The location is pretty epic - right on the waterfront, views from every part of the brewery, lots of places to easily walk to. I guess we just don't get to Point Loma as often as we should. At any rate, we ended up here on my husband's birthday, and the place was fairly packed for a Thursday early afternoon. We snagged a couple of barstools overlooking the marina and had planned on hanging out for a bit, but other things got in the way (namely a full hubby - he ate so much at lunch that he didn't have a lot of room for beer.)My first - and favorite - pour was the Moment of Weakness, a dark sour. It was tasty and tart, and my brain kept forgetting that it was a sour purely because it had the coloring of a porter or a stout. I'd take a sip, acknowledge the tart flavors, put the glass down, then see it and think, "I like porters" before taking another sip only to be taken off-guard by the sour tartiness of the brew. It was amusing in the moment but really why couldn't my brain parse that information? My second pour was their Radler, which I got because I was feeling a bit boozy after the sour. The Radler was crisp and refreshing, and light enough to crush. Everyone working that day was so friendly - not just to us, but to our puppy as well. We always appreciate when someone takes a second to chat with us and to acknowledge how incredibly adorable our little guy is.

This place was a great surprise! Gracious service, crisp fresh beer, and a smashburger to knock out all others. The fries could've been a little crisper (imho) but it was a perfect lunch. Dog friendly patio is very welcome too. Limited parking in the street should not keep you away, believe me. Loved this place.

Very chill brewery with really friendly service. It's a smaller space but they do have both indoor and outdoor seating. We got the sour on love (sour cherry berliner weisse), st. Alfanzos pancake breakfast (imperial stout with coffee and maple syrup) and the purple reign (imperial tart with plum apricot and blackberries). All the drinks weren't too sweet or too sour. I could have probably used a bit more fruit flavor but overall very enjoyable.

Love this place. Stumbled upon it a few months ago and I keep going back since it's just around the corner! They have a great beer selection and extremely friendly staff! Most of the tasters are $1 each and you can taste just about all of them. There's always parking and you can bring your own food or purchase some nuts or bar mix there. I'm looking forward to the opening of the Santee location which they say will be at the latest, early February. Keep an eye out for the food truck schedule since they have quite a few that stop by!

We ordered a flight (my favorite being the blackberry jam) and sat down to chill. Steve, one of the employees came and sat down with us and showed us some dice games. It was such a good time! I loved this place!"
"This great little local brewery on 3rd Ave in Chula Vista was our second stop on a winding pub crawl around San Diego. Veteran-owned, it was busy on a summer Friday night. Street parking. I found something besides IPA - always a win. Support local!"
"Steve and dove into Mike Hess Brewing again and had two more of their beers, different ones than from before. The first one was an IPA, known as the Hop Cloud Hazy IPA. Flavor features to look for with this IPA are juicy, citrusy, subtle and zippy. And of course hazy in appearance. I have had a couple other IPA'S and like any good brewery they make sure to have distinguishing characteristics between each of their IPA'S so you know you are having something different as you switch from one IPA to another. I have been to some breweries where I couldn't even tell in which that two different IPA's tasted the same. The other beer we enjoyed was a Kolsch called Claritas. We always enjoy kolsch beers and this one was no exception to that. Flavor highlights to be on the lookout for are sweet and malty with a clean finish! The beer is also very light bodied and smooth which is a characteristic we always enjoy with our beer drinking experiences!"
"Write a review while drinking a beer? Why not. I can set the glass down for 30 seconds at a time, I think.Northern Pine has become my favorite brewery on the new Upper Decker, and has become in the top 3 among my favorite breweries overall. Obviously, the beer is very, very good. The Saized and Confused is my go-to thus far, followed up by the Cracking Chaps Pale Ale. Like any SD brewery, they have IPAs, but killing your tongue with an onslaught of hops, like many SD breweries, isn't their objective. The guys who work here are always helpful with the samples and guidance. There is usually plenty of seating, either at the bar or on the adjacent tables at this far south end of the deck. There are 4 big TVs next the bar, usually running the current sportings. I do have some opinions about the overall food court setup here, particularly about their treatment of disabled people who have service animals (those reviews aren't too difficult to find). My pup Ava, whose service involves finding french fries on the floor, is absolutely welcome on the Deck, just not in the food court below, which is fine. Now I need to finish my Saison. I'll be back, and often!"
"San Diego is overflowing with microbreweries creating more and more IPAs and Sours, not a bad thing, but I love that Barley and Sword focuses on traditional British Empire ales...Irish Red, English IPA, Irish Stout, Scottish Stout, Golden Ales...keeping it simple. The bar tender was super friendly and fun, talking all sorts of nerd stuff. The interior has a traditional medieval theme and matching decor with swords, including the wooden sampler tray. Will be back!"
"I have had Ballast Point several times at this point now and had a fair range of their beers, granted it was mostly IPA'S but I do have to say each of their IPA'S has distinguishing characteristics so you indeed can separate the difference from one IPA from another. My most favorite of their beers at this point anyway is their Sculpin IPA series. I simply love the brewery's Grapefruit Sculpin and the regular Sculpin I like quite well also. After doing some poking around they also have a Habanero Sculpin which I would love to try sometime but thus far has eluded me.The two Sculpin IPA'S you can expect to be light bodied, hoppy, fruity and sweet and of course Grapefruit with the Grapefruit version.Moving on from the Sculpin series the Watermelon Dorado was another excellent beer and left very impressed with. A nice light, dry, hoppy and wheat oriented beer.Big Gus, another IPAbI found very refreshing as well with it's fruity, hoppy, sweet and strong characteristics. Moving out of IPA territory I had the Grunion Pale Ale. I liked this one but not quite as much as the IPA'S. It is floral, hoppy, fruity and smooth with a light body.I walk away very impressed with the beers I have had from Ballast Point and I would be very excited to get the Habanero Sculpin. Perhaps someday that will materialize."
"We had a large party meet up on a Friday evening happy hour with our kids. There was about 30 of us in total. There is ample parking out front and more parking in the back. This place is in the middle of businesses so it does get busy with local patrons. We lucked out and came before it go too busy to secure a nice area in the patio lawn. There is both indoor and outdoor space and a nice grassy area for kids to run around. It's semi enclosed, but you do have to keep an eye on our kids since there are ways to run out to the parking lots with speeding cars. Lots of beer choices and there were also seltzers and sours available. You are able to taste them before committing to a glass. There are also different sizes as well. Friendly service and quick to serve and suggest. This is a great family friendly (and pet friendly) brewery. We enjoyed how chill it was esp on a warm evening out. Definitely recommend this place and will be back!"
"Saw that Phatties vegan Mexican food truck was going to be at Serpentine a couple weekends ago (they're there almost every day), so my wife and I decided to check it out.We placed our food order at the truck, then wandered into Serpentine. We ordered a cider sampler at the bar then took it outside to a table on the side patio. The cider was good -- refreshing with a variety of different flavors represented. Kinda one note, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Great service from the bartender and of course Phatties did not disappoint. We'll be back!"
"A trip out to Alpine for the day to visit friends meant why not explore and see what else we can find like a brewery or something and we landed on Mike Hess. I am not a big beer person but I do actually really like the beers at Mike Hess! We came in on a week day and it wasn't too busy, it was a decent size tasting room which I was surprised by as some of the others I have been to have been much smaller. We grabbed a quick seat at the bar for a drink and I noticed that they had some other drink options other than beer which was great for me but I did venture out and try some of the beers including the peach sour and the mike-alada which were both tasty! I ended up leaving with 2 shirts and a 6 pack of beer for my boyfriend, they actually had a deal that if you bought a shirt that you got a free 6 pack which was awesome since I was going to buy both. We ended up spending a good amount of time in the merch area because we loved all of it. If I was in the area I will definitely come back, It was nice to see that they have a kitchen as well so I want to check out their food menu as well!"
"It had been a minute since we last visited Kilowatt Brewing and I don't know why. It is totally our jam. A really great spot in OB. Dog friendly, cool OB vibes, fun games and a great selection of beer and seltzers. The beertenders are always great as is the clientele. During our most recent visit there were eight of us. We found a great spot in the sun on the patio. Great times, great friends and great beer."
"I have been fortunate enough to have lived next door to a beer bar and bottle shop in Arizona that has Modern Times beer products on their menu. It's how I learned about them. On my most recent trip to San Diego, I decided to check out their tasting room. I love the beer here at Modern Times. They've been brewing it since 2013 and they roast coffee too. My two loves - beer and coffee under one roof. This tasting room is very spacious and is located near Old town. There is the bar and a mini mart where you can grab some products to-go. For parking, you can park on any of the streets nearby. We ordered a flight so we could sample a few beers we haven't tried yet. The Orderville is such a great tasting IPA. I also grabbed some nitro coffee to-go. Modern Times makes some good beer and they've grown much in their ten years of existence. This was a great stop for happy hour and I look forward to grabbing more products back at my bottle shop back home."
"This is a real Deli. Evan is doing the lords work. He is making honest sandwiches for hard working Sandiagians. He's got a BLT on the menu! Not a "California BLT" but a true B.L.T.Evan has devoted his life to single-handedly improve the California sandwich landscape. California is a bounty in so many ways... but the sandwich game in this state is an embarrassment and Evan is here to correct things. I suggest stopping in for the Pastrami Bombie. Pastrami, slaw, Swiss, pickles and thousand island on a fine sub roll. It is transcendent. Don't sleep on this one... get your arse in your car and aim for Point Loma."
"We were invited to a good friends retirement at this location. What I really appreciated was that the whole place is so open and the ceilings are high and it gives off a really good vibe when you walk in.The owner saw me come in, and he immediately came up to me and asked if he could help me. I told him that we were there for a retirement party and he smiled and said OK it's the whole place. And so what we did was asked him does he know where the retiree was and he pointed to show us where to locate our friend.Overall, this place is great. They had really good appetizers and dishes coming out for the guests. They also have really really good beer selection and I like that they had kombucha and other selections as well, like sour ciders, etc.The place is great and also in a great location. I highly recommend people trying this place out. Parking can be a challenge. There is a lot behind B of A Bank that has a pay app. I used to live 2 blocks away. I recommend parking a couple of blocks away and then walking over to this place because parking was pricey. I was fortunate to get a parking spot on the street for 2 hour parking, after circling for about 45mins. Nice place to have a beer and great food. We ordered buffalo wings, a short rib flatbread pizza, and short rib tacos to share because we wanted to try it all. Delicious and made well. Service is great, the whole staff is customer service oriented."
"Absolutely great spot! Visited for a midday lunch. You can beat the location, with beach views from various points of the restaurant. I ordered the chicken wrap and it was delicious! It's served with fries and or salad. The wrap was huge but totally doable. I got to try their falafel which was also really good. The service is mostly self serve. You order at the counter , grab your own utensils and napkins etc... They have various deals and promos as well. Highly recommend, especially during the week when the vibe is more lunch forward and less drinking crowd."
"If we could only fix the problem with the flies flying around, add a few more options to diversity the menu (but something like 32 beers on tap, I hear) and improve the air circulation, we could have a great thing going. Overall, yes, this is a highly unique spot. And the staff is very attentive and helpful. You can also order hot dogs (and other items) next door and dine in here. Great concept all around. But it gets a bit sticky/uncomfortable and, unless you are bound to the beer assortment (which is very popular with some of the locals), there is not much of a main draw beyond the beautiful setting."
"This year one of my birthday celebrations was at the Bolt brewery. What a perfect first day of summer invited by a gym friend. The excuse other than celebrating one more year of wonderful and grateful life was to watch the soccer Euro league Spain-Italy. Not as full of people as I would have expected (considering this is located in Little Italy) but that made the gathering more intimate and cozy. I loved my mango flavored beer and the surf and turf. We all had a great time and will go back."
"One of the coolest breweries you've never heard of. New Orleans theme with lots of masks and skulls on the walls. Wide selection of beers. Really tasty IPAs. Brewer was hanging out talking to customers. I love that! Can't wait to go back."
"Since San Diego is known for breweries, I wanted to take my boyfriend to one of them while he was here. I remembered a coworker recommending this place and since it was along the way home, we decided to stop here. The location that we went to is the one located in an industrial/business area where no other eateries are closely located on Carroll Canyon Rd in Scripps Ranch. There's a relatively large parking lot shared with other businesses (I believe) for customers going to the brewery. The brewery is a covered, open space where they have drinks and games, such as billiards and board games, for customers. Very cool atmosphere!I saw that there was a Yelp check-in offer of $2 off one full pour of beer and decided to use it as I wasn't a big drinker anyways (although, I do love beer flights). I got the Japanese Lager. It was veeerry good. Light without much hoppiness. But it's a beer I wouldn't know the difference between other lagers. My boyfriend got their beer flight: Tropical Daydream (sour), Camp beer (light), Waimea Haze (hoppy), Harland Rumbler (core). Out of all of them, I really liked the tropical daydream because of the hint of passionfruit in it. I heard the beers rotate so when my boyfriend visits again, we'll definitely be back to check out the other options as this location is near my home!"
"We had such an amazing experience here! We love sour beers and this place by far has the best selections of sour beers. Pretty extensive too about 15 or so. We came on a Sunday night with our baby and the taco truck was a good choice for small bites. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. There was a local artisan there selling some stuff. The parking at the front seemed limited but I did see a different parking lot across from the building."
"This is really a beer bar and I mean that in the best way possible. They don't brew their own beers but they have lots of local brews on tap or in bottles/cans.The interior is modern and attractive and they've got a cool and comfortable outdoor patio in front. For a parking lot patio, I'm a big fan.The beer selection on draft is excellent and they even offer 3 ounce flights of 4 beers. I love how they support local. They've got some light snacks for sale or you can bring your own grub in. The Habit, Luna Grill and--best of all--Los Tacos are just steps away.Great spot to hang."
"Came here for a late lunch while exploring North Park. It's a cool spot with great food and beer. My girls had the Beer Mac and Cheese ( which was delicious) and my husband and I split the Smash Burger and Cobb Salad. The beers we had were great. Our server was friendly and attentive and we enjoyed this place!"
"Lovely, welcoming, tons of home brewing supplies. A little tricky with parking but I think there's more in the back. The service couldn't have been more friendly and the beers were great! Plus at $10 for a flight of 4 I'm not sure you can get a better deal. The habanero beer was unique. I'm not sure I'd want a full glass of it but 4 Oz was nice. It leaves a warm tingle in your throat after you drink it but it could get pretty overpowering. The nitro stout was smooth and rich! Blood Orange IPA had a nice fruity touch (my mom thought the IPA was strong) and the red ale was refreshing too. We played a few games while we tasted our beers and could've stayed for much longer. Great place to visit! Love that they offer classes and other merch here too."
