"On the corner of university and park. They have a 2 for $40 which is awesome! & hook it up with a few puff bar. So glad I found this spot for vapes"
"One of my favorite times of the year is San Diego Restaurant Week! I love trying out new restaurants, and The Bronze Bird is a must return when you're in the Downtown area. I love the ambiance of tje restaurant, it wasn't busy and I was seated right away. I easily made reservations online and was able to adjust my reservations due to trying to find parking.Drink: Strawberry Martini - So refreshing! Loved it. Pre-Fixe Restaurant Menu Picks:Artichoke and Grana Padno Bisque. Creamy and delicious. Pan Seared Halibut. Flaky with a nice sear, loved the beans with pancetta. Very filling.Orange Blossom Panna Cotta. Our waiter, Javier, topped it off with Grand Marnier! So good, very light. No, he didn't light the Grand Marnier on fire, lol. Customer service was superb! I can't explain how welcoming the staff was, I truly felt like I was a guest at the hotel. Definitely must return!"
"Whenever I heard Chicken Charlie, I thought of the half cut pineapple with rice and chicken (Maui Chicken). Chicken Charlie's Table has always been a staple seen in the San Diego County Fair amongst others. Their restaurant in Rancho Bernardo was beautiful. It was huge, had some outdoor seating, and just a lot of open-ness. I like the ambiance of the interior decorating. The menu choices were quite extensive, and on the weekends, they have brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9AM - 2PM. I expected the rest of their menu to be completely fried items (due to what I've seen at the fair). Which the menu did meet expectations (brunch options, family dinners, burgers, baskets, etc.), but they also offer hearty salads. Another discovery was that you get sucked back into childhood nostalgia with the kool-aid that they add in to mix with drinks.DATE: August 2023 11:30 AM for 4 peopleWe had Samuel as our waiter, but he was also working the bar. He was awesome and friendly! -My husband, L, ordered the Kool-Aid Old Fashioned, which consisted of Bulleit Bourbon, Angostura Bitters, Cherry Kool-Aid, Orange peel, and a cherry.-I went for a Citrus Fizz, which consisted of orange, lemon, demerara, aquafava.-He created the drink, the Maggie (after one of our members in the group). We did see him add in like orange juice, tito's, blue kool-aid, pineapple and cherry on top. Our food came out promptly at a good pace. They also have other interesting drinks like Anna-Elsa, The Poway Mom, Bernardo Bloody Mary, etc.The food we ordered were definitely worth their price. They were all very hearty and huge.- My husband, L, ordered the 'Chicken Fried Steak' - Tenderized Ney York steak, breaded, fried, topped with country sausage gravy, served with two eggs, tater tots, and sourdough toast. He managed to finish off most of it, leaving behind the tater tots and sourdough toast. And was complimented by Samuel that, it is a quite a feat because most patrons can't find it.- I ordered the beet salad. I enjoyed it with the crispy chicken (+$5) on the side. It was humungous. The beets were definitely big! I did ask them to remove the feta and tomatoes.- Yelper Maggie had 'The Jessica.' The descriptions was Cheeseburger Salad: chopped half-pound burger with cheddar cheese over romaine, Tomatoes, Red Onion, Crispy Bacon, an Half an Avocado. Topped with Ranch. Basically a deconstructed cheeseburger without the salad. Also hearty plate of food.- Yelper S ordered the fish n chips, which was 12 ounces of crispy battered wild caught Cod, served with tartar sauce and lemon. Our group had a nice time at this location. It shares the same parking lot as the Albertsons and a few other shops. My only complaint is the salad plating It's great to see how they display all the things in your salad. But, it's pretty hard to mix all of that on a plate. If all the salads could be moved into giant bowls, it would be SO much easier to eat. I would come again to try other things on their menu, if I'm in the fried mood. They also got deep fried oreos."
"Great tiny liquor store. Terrific selection of everything. There were nice wines, beers, ice creams, frozen dinners, toiletries, candy bars and cigarettes. Service was super friendly. My only complaint is the overwhelming perfumey stench. It was so strong my eyes started to water."
"One-Stop Shopping. Friendly service and great prices. These folks are definitely NOT GREEDY. You want a phone, new keys made, UHAUL or milk, come here. You want tools, incense or Money Orders, pay utility bills or buy beer or hard liquor at, this is your place. Great Parking too."
"Now THIS is the type of local businesses that I would drive a distance to support . We recently fell in love with a Pinot Noir from Russian River. The bottle was about $50 at a restaurant. We were seeing it for around $30 online. MHL was one of the few places that carry this wine. The owner (Oday?) was kind and knowledgeable on the phone. He was helpful with questions. The store is on the corner of Lewis and I think Stephens? I think it only says Mission Hills on the awning though. There's a boar's head umbrella with table at the front. There was plenty of street parking today when we visited. The location is small but stocked with a lot of wine/craft beers/spirits. There's also a deli section where you can get a sandwich made. They also had pre made sandwiches and salads. Our wines were ready for us when we got there. Friend also looked through their refrigerated section for a stout beer to try as well. The owner never pressured us to buy anything and the entire experience was just NICE. Plus, there's a tiny beautiful mascot who will greet you quietly (omg, can't remember her name now but she's the cutest little 6lb poodle you will meet). The total price was beyond fair and reasonable. I am so glad to have found this place and will be back to explore and purchase more fine wines for dinners/events.Thank you Mission Hills Liquor ."
"Went inside to buy some food at the thai restaurant, and the convenient store is great. Best of yet, I met Mike, who assumed was the owner but he was giving me advice on where to eat, what places to visits (since I'm not from Cali). There's an atm, there liquor, and I even bought California hats for less than $6!!! I almost paid $15 at another tourist place"
"This restaurant is located in Little Italy area in San Diego . Reservations are highly recommended they are always booked . When we made reservations they did require a fee incase we canceled . Walking in to this restaurant it is huge . They also have a huge rooftop that is where u want to sit at with all the views and the decor is amazing. The restrooms are funny they say some funny things on the toilet seats . Everyone was super nice and attentive. Jake and Stenson made our experience memorable. Jake was our waiter he was so sweet and attentive. Stenson made our Caesar salad table side it was so much fun and delicious. All the food was so good here . This is considered a steakhouse so we had to try the steak so good . For dessert we got a macaroon and the best part is it had a Wu-Tang Clan label on it . I loved the detail .Overall I highly recommend coming here . This was one of my favorite restaurants of my trip to San Diego. The food was 10/10 the service was also 10/10 . Loved all the vibes here on the rooftop can't wait to go back ."
"I recently came here to make a quick purchase. Came in and were greeted by two different guys. They were both very friendly and polite. The store looks clean and fully stocked with all your convenient necessities. From snacks, drinks, alcohol, cigarettes and more! Not to mention I noticed they offer Boar's Head meat here, which I am a super fan of! Boar's Head is high quality meat that you can actually taste. So I support any places that offer that! Definitely need to come back and try a sandwich sometime!"
"I love this place. It says it is a liquor store but it is a small grocery store. You can find everything here. I always brag to my friends how there is a three story liquor store by my house! I love this place and will be a loyal customer as long as I live in the area. They have fire sandwiches too!"
"Long wait but staff was efficient and did their best! It was lunch rush on Friday so that's on us. Was about a 35 min wait but the food was fabulous and prepared well! Good quality ingredients and lots of choices in the style of an old school NY deli!"
"This little store gets very busy on days there are games at Jack Murphy--I mean Qualcommm-- I mean SDCCU Stadium. After all, it's right up the hill from it.It's a very well stocked and well organized mini-mart. I went there to pick up a six-pack of beer, and was amazed at the variety of beer (and wine) available. There was a short line at checkout, but the friendly guy at the counter handled the business very efficiently.Despite being a liquor store, this is a great store for food or pantry items, too."

Absolutely love the new employees here!! They had just come under new management when I showed up in March2020 and it is my go to convenient and liquor store! I'm unfortunately leaving the San Diego area, but would recommend this store to EVERYBODY!! You'll always be greeted with a smile.

Located inside the Westin, this is an exceptionally good place for breakfast in the Gaslamp. Eggs and bacon were cooked exactly as I had requested. The staff is friendly, helpful, and courteous. The host sat me immediately. Jessica was an outstanding server!

This is my 5th time at Chicken Charlie's. When I ate here 3 weeks ago with a large group. I had not heard of Chicken Charlie's before until the large group posted that they were having their monthly social get together here at Chicken Charlie's because people liked it so much when they came before it. Well this visit I ordered the daily dinner special which is Maui chicken for $15 instead of $18. It was heavily review and dark meat is the best if it were white meat I wouldn't even order it but I verified it was dark meat and they give you a decent pile of chicken on top of half of a pineapple with some of the chunks down at the bottom and my I'm making it four stars because one of the Maui Chicken reviews is right they don't give you enough rice for all the heavenly sauced chicken that is a very intense and flavor the white rice is not enough to eat that chicken with but I told my server. When she asked the manager about bringing me another scoop of white rice for no extra charge, he said No. Another complaint and I told the owner... he came to my table and I said I have some feedback about this Maui chicken I'm eating for the first time. The extra teriyaki sauce that they bring you is freezing cold and he was like he was not aware that it was being served freezing cold. I said I asked my server to bring a heated up teriyaki sauce. He said he never thought about heating the teriyaki sauce. I said when you go to a barbecue place they heat up their barbecue sauce and he acknowledging that was true, and he thanked me for the tip. But I don't know if he'll follow up on making all teriyaki chicken servings with heated up barbecue sauce. But at least I gave my feedback because when you dip the chicken in the freezing cold teriyaki sauce is quite a rude awakening. So I downgraded my review from five stars for last time if you read the previous review about the Fried Chicken special I had for $10. It was terrific! I was euphoric over the coating being crispy like a potato chip. This time whoever cleaned the table just wipe the crumbs onto where I would sit. That happens often in restaurants they just brush the crumbs off onto the seating area.I went another time, for Daily Special which was 4 chicken legs and rice for $10, no rice substitutions, and at 5 pm, they ran out already. I did not stay to eat something else, cos I don't wanna pay full price. I went on EASTER Sunday March 31, and only 1 table had people sitting. I ordered the daily special which was 2 pieces fried chicken, dark meat, and fries. I really like Charlie's fries, crispy like the chicken coating. Everything friend tastes great here. My server was sooooo attentive, came to check on me at least 4 times. Took trash from my table as it accumulated, not when I leave the table and go out the door. I am moving my review back from 4 stars to five stars. Bathroom was so clean this time, too.

I love this little Market. So convenient so I don't have to venture into the GasLamp! I typically stop in before the weekend to buy beer or lotto tickets. Recently went in and found Duraflame single logs after driving all over town trying to find them. Paid an arm and leg for it but it was worth not having to drive further. Stop in and see Mike and Frank...they have anything you are in a pinch for!

Yay! I'm a fan! This Mini Mart is standard, but is run pretty well.I'll usually stop by here for a quick in and out on things I'll need before getting the night started on the weekends, or things like a snack or milk. They have a good selection of drinks I usually pick up before going out or partying hahaNamely Mikes Hard Lemonade, which they have a good amount of flavors I hadn't tried before (check out the cherry lime flavor) or tall cans. All standard pricing on them ($2-3 for the regular cans, $4-5 for the bigger ones). They also have 2 for $4 on Monster Energy.Half-gallons of milk at $2.99.The main guy I always see there looks very happy to be attending customers, will greet you with a smile, crack a joke or two and wish you a 'Merry Christmas!' on your way out (yes, even in April haha).Wait times are never too long.Like I said: a standard, but well run mini mart :)

Wandered into this shop today in hopes to grab a quick bite to eat. This place exceeded my expectations. It's so adorable and well put together inside. The service was great and friendly. They have everything you could ever need inside, from a wide selection of alcohol, snacks, and deli items. I decided to get the veggie sandwich on squaw bread and it was perfectly refreshing and delicious. The shop is in a great location, allowing you to grab a bite or a drink and walk over to the park (Mission Hills Park) that is just a block or two away. Highly recommend this place!!

This is my favorite liquor store in San Diego. I've been coming here since I was 7 years old. Needless to say maybe the owners changed but I remember Ernie back in the day and he had all the kids or families pictures of people in the neighborhood. We grew up on B Street so we were here all the time.

Went here for my birthday. Was seated early before our reservation, which I appreciated. The food was good but not standout. Service was excellent. They make your salad by the table if you get that. The ambiance is a sexy vibe, great for dates or groups. I would go here for the vibes alone, and since food is pretty decent, I would also recommend a visit to anyone in the area.

"the market itself is great. pretty wide selection on most things. but it's no longer a deli. when i lived in bankers hill back in 2021 their deli had a wide variety of hot and cold sandwiches as well as many other things. just moved back into town after 2 years and the deli lights are always off. all i've ever seen is basic pre packaged ham and cheese type sandwiches in the fridges. decided to try one anyway but it was covered in mold spores. still gonna frequent the market for anything but food. wouldn't recommend eating here since the deli closed."
"Came for a late lunch with friends at 2pm on a Tuesday. There were 4 of us in our party and we were seated immediately upon walking in. The booths were all taken up, but there was a nice table available in the side corner by the window that the host suggested. We were seated and the server asked us about drinks. 3 of us wanted water and 1 of us ordered a juice. Drinks came out right away and we were also able to order the Birria fries appetizer. That Birria Fries appetizer IS DELICIOUS! I recommend it fully.Food entrees ordered: Beef Sliders x 2, Wedge Salad with Shrimp added, and Mashed Potato Flatbread Pizza. Everything was very tasty according to everyone in our party. The customer service here is awesome. We appreciate the staff, ambience, and wonderful food. We will continue to visit because they are still outstanding."
"I ordered the taco combo with two fried pollock tacos and was pleasantly surprised. For $11, each taco had a very large piece of fish that was nicely breaded and fried. It was topped with sliced cabbage with a thousand island dressing. My friend ordered the salmon bowl and was very satisfied! The service was quick. We ate on the patio that had a view of the bay and a bit of shade. I'll definitely be back."
"This is one of my favorite beer and wine shops in my neighborhood. I hate the parking situation but it's within walking distance so I guess it's alright. Whether I'm in the mood for beer or wine I always find something that I end up coming back for more.Whenever I come here with my husband I always end up leaving with a new beer or wine glass ;) Store is always on top notch shape. Super clean and organized as well as conveniently stocked. They also have some snacks to accompany your beverage of choice. I follow them on Instagram to stay updated on new beer releases for my husband. It is conveniently located next to Viva Pops so it's always a win-win situation! If you can't find what you are looking for ask for suggestions and I promise you will not regret it, it is also a great way to venture of to new things!"
"delicious acai bowl - now available in small size for $4.99! even that size is very sharable with another person. i will admit this is my only experience with an acai bowl (i know, gasp, i am not huge of the "fad" foods and just got what the mood struck me), but I have a feeling its a good one. loads of granola, berries, coconut and fruit packed on top of the frozen acai sorbet. so yum.this place has a million options for ordering food, as well as cafeteria-style items up front. and then the standard liquor stuff items. its a great all-in-one place along the newport drag. stop by on a warm day for the acia bowl! you will be happy."
"MINI-MART MASHUPCheck out the Food Bowl, which is the local neighborhood mashup of a mini-market: deli, winery, pizza making and taco shop. Seriously, they even offer check cashing, money orders and other fiscal services. And if it's fresh meat you're looking for, you have choices. From fresh organic produce to ethnic products, I like this store.KUDOS FOR CARNE ASADAHold up, taco shops! Because Food Bowl's carne asada tacos and burritos are rocking some serious flavor, loaded with all the fixin's that make your taste buds groove. Note carne asada burrito comes with beans. The surf and turf diablo burrito - that's next on my must-try list.CONVENIENCE VERSUS UPCHARGEReal talk: prices might raise an eyebrow, but the sheer convenience if you live in the neighborhood is that it is closer than the grocery store. "Even though you're growing up, you should never stop having fun." - Nina Dobrev."
"Came in here because they had a deli and I said why not. Got the hot Italian because a friend recommended it to me and Jesus Christ that thing was amazing. Now I won't be able to go to any random sub spot. We have a winner here"
"We are so FUR-TUNATE to even have a corner market. American market owner Louie is an absolute delight, always is welcoming & helpful. Surprisingly they have a pretty diverse stock of groceries & snacks at reasonable prices. My pawrents are especially grateful for a surprisingly good selection of wine, beers and of course ice cream for such a small place We are truly gr888ful that my hood still has these types of small businesses that are so convenient and enhance our community. Life would be so much more difficult without them Oh, Louie also brings in great Food stands & trucks that serve us well. If you live in the hood, stop by and make sure you tell them Dexter sent you. Some to come a review on the new tamale stand out front"
"This is one of my favorite delis! It's inside the corner liquor store (which has so much good stuff btw). The owner is so sweet and always welcoming. The liquor store itself is always clean and fully stocked. I actually live in the street about 400ft away so I order from here almost weekly and walk over. It's super easy to call in or order there and the wait isn't super long. They use boars head meats, which is the best!! I LOVE their chipotle chicken sandwich and their chicken bacon Caesar wraps in the spinach tortilla! Definitely recommend giving this spot a try!"
"Extremely slow service and ceviche is kind of different from the ones I am used to but loved the ceviche special super shareable for 2 people. I am glad they did not have the octopus taco I was craving because this absolutely hit the spot. First time there and super mellow (maybe too mellow, the kitchen probably is under staffed) but my guy and I were able to spend some nice time talking to the people seating at the next tables. Everyone was so friendly! This is the spirit of San Diego that I love so much and it was concentrated there over ceviche and beers! Plus the view to the surf board and the amusement park is so cool too. I like eating at that patio, and it felt like I was at someone's house. Cute decorated bathroom with Mexican loteria decor (they charge $2 for people that are not consuming at the restaurant to use it)."
"Best quick stop market with cost equivalent to big box Super Markets. If they don't have it in your first visit it will be available next visit."
"Got to bump these guys up to a fiver (!)... My last couple of trips have been sandwiches made beautifully and with care, and always loaded down with heaps of dead beast and generous helpings of cheese and goodies. I highly recommend the roast beef sandwich here- Really high quality meat, and for the money you just can't do much better. Thanks, guys!"
"Eh. Overall a good selection and display. Everything from hard seltzer to rye. Unfortunately, I felt like the clerk was pulling prices out of thin air! Not a lot of single cans, for thirsty surfers. Slightly rip-offish.Rebel review: 3"
"Super chill speakeasy in North Park. They also offer an amazing happy hour in the afternoon and late night. They are open 4 days a week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday :) Conveniently located behind Cafe Calabria on 30th and University. Super personable staff members too, will definitely try their food the next time I'm there.*I wouldn't bring kids...."
"My favorite sandwich is the turkey/Swiss cheese/extras on dark/light pumpernickel bread. The roast beef is Devine. All of Mixon has to offer at the deli is healthy, tasty, and well worth the drive. Lisa C."
"His family requested that we bring some wine, preferably Moscato, for their Christmas Eve party. BevMo had the brand we needed. When we got there, we couldn't find the one he was looking for, so we asked for some assistance. The associate couldn't find it either, so we ended up getting a couple of different ones instead. The next day, after carefully reading the label and realizing it was not sweet enough, came back to exchange it for the right kind. Customer service was great and since I'm a member of their club, I saved a lot of money on the wines. I couldn't wait to taste the wine with our dinner that night. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, so if you love Moscato, Poggio is a good one to get.Of course they have a variety of beverages and other things if you're not into sweet wines. Also, if you're shopping in Mission Valley, make sure you go to the right BevMo (if you're looking for something specific) because there are two locations in this area."
"**May 2023: Saturday Evening Visit**My friend and I weren't really hungry but we needed some sustenance for the evening. Many restaurants in Lakeside were closed so we figured we could order a few sandwiches to take to the airbnb and eat when we were hungry. Cheers is located into a liquor store and while a sando counter doesn't usually come to mind when I think of a liquor store I'm so glad that we visited. There's a large variety of sandos and my friend and I each order a sandwich to split. He did the Godfather ($11.99) which includes all Italian meats, cheese and Italian dressing and I chose the T.B.A.C ($12.99) which is a turkey breast sando with bacon avocado slices, and cheese. All sandos come with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and red onions unless otherwise instructed.Between the two I preferred the T.B.A.C and they gave a LOT of turkey. It was a very filling meal and I had leftovers for the following day. I enjoyed it!"
"I am in this parking lot weekly and people rave about the sandwiches so I finally decided to take the plunge and get one. Have only ever been here one other time but that was for a bag of chips, soda and candy bar.Staff was helpful with recommendations and asking what I wanted on the sandwich. They recommended the club (I had it narrowed down to two sandwiches). I thought I would just get what it says it comes with but I was asked what I wanted to add and told my choices.I ended up with a tasty (albeit expensive) sandwich. I think part of the cost is paying with a credit card but since I did 't get a receipt I don't know. They seem to have a little bit of everything so if you live close by and needed eggs, milk, bacon, juice etc they have it. And of course alcohol.Would consider coming back again and paying cash to see if that helps the sticker shock. The sandwich was $13.99 but with taxes and fees was $15.42."
"GREAT SANDWICHES HERE!! This locally owned business is owned by a great family who really cares about the community. Each fresh sandwich comes with a dill pickle spear and fresh side. Sides include; potato salad, macaroni salad, broccoli salad and more. They make sandwiches quickly and they are consistently exceptional. There are several tables to eat out front. The buffalo chicken salad is a favorite of mine. It is expertly made on fresh gourmet bread and served hot after being pressed on a hot iron grill. Plates with all the fixings n sides are $8.95. What a great deal! The store also has a great selection of fine wines and liquors. We love this place and we love this nice family who run this locally owned "mom n pop" shop. Great wine selection, great sandwiches, great prices and most of all - great people!"
"A top notch deli right in the neighborhood! The sandwich menu is expansive-special creations or create your own, which I chose today. I couldn't decide, but with the suggestions from the great woman behind it all, we came up with cheddar, roast beef, veggies and squaw bread. I only asked for 1/2 sandwich which they will prepare if asked. Still, I received a sky high beauty! Now, I've learned from previous visits that I just can't exit without one of their salads from the deli case. Today the choices included deli macaroni or potato, a mayonnaise-less potato and herb, hummus, full-size meal salads, and cucumber-garbanzo. I chose the cucumber. Also in the deli case were dolma, and a sweet baklava for dessert. The sandwich, now cut in two, and 1/3 of the cucumber salad -fruit fit the calorie-less meal plan for my Saturday lunch. It's just so nice to have this awesome deli close by. As the woman at the counter said to me, "I just want to make you guys healthier." See?"
"Great beer/canned cocktail selections and they have a lot of wine and other spirits. Also got the Turkey blt with sprouts and it was amazing. Highly recommend"
