"First time to Kind and I most often get black batch coffee or a pour over. The batch they had today is fantastic! The girls were ultra happy and friendly. For ready to go coffee, this stands out as a trip worth the effort compared to other daily drinkers around town. I'm a coffee roaster hobbyist so I'm glad there was no parking at the horse place I tried before this. I had to come back and add to the review as I'm drinking some aweosme black coffee. It's got the hallowed blueberry and chocolate notes that roasters love to find in some of their roasts! This is tasty, enjoying it in my Klean Kanteen for hours!"
"Devastated that the Poway location is closed but SO MUCH love for this business and their delicious cupcakes. The lemon is my hands down fav and I often craved it so much that I'd order it to be delivered to my house on days when I wanted to treat myself. With the closure of the local to me location up in Poway, I guess my waistline is saved, but oh my heart! I'm devoted though, so I'll still order whenever I'm down South and bring their products home to enjoy. If they even make it out of the car I'll be surprised! Home Bakers, this is a shop you can really enjoy if you're too busy to create in your own kitchen. The whole family is a fan. Pardon the word, but these are moist (sorry) flavorful and fresh everytime. Their frosting is quality and they can decorate a cake like nobody's business! We'll be getting my daughter's cake from them this year because I recently saw a Frozen design on their instagram that was like none other I'd seen around (and would not attempt myself.)"

"Beautiful little brunch place with great food and ambience! I absolutely loved the House Quiche with a cup of Potato Spinach soup of the day. Their Triple Berry Pie was also delicious, though it was a bit too much jam for me. The service was great - everyone was kinda and friendly. I would love to come again and try more dishes!"
"I'm shocked at the flavor this vegan gem packs. I don't often choose vegan but tried them today and I didn't even realize the sausage croissant I was eating was vegan until halfway through it. Service was fast and friendly. Small but cute interior."
"Always greeted when you walk into this bakery. This morning, I opted for a cheese danish. It looked pretty in the pastry case, but still wanted to confirm it wasn't a cream danish. It looked silky buttermilky cream.I ate it once I got to work. Indeed, it is on the creamy side, and also sweeter than cheese danishes typically are. I prefer the version that is not as sweet and creamy. I wouldn't order this one again for myself. I paid $4.10 for my danish."
"Keep coming back. This time I got the mexi-mocha and it is sooo yummy. Also, best days to get pastries are Mondays and Tuesdays!"
"I've been waiting for this bakery to actually open forever! It was really worth the wait. They also have gluten free pastries .... and they are delicious.Great breakfast and lunch stuffed croissantsto die for. Give them a try. You won't regret it."
"Love the roasted pork here and it's a must to have it on every party we host. The only downfall is they don't deliver."
"5/5 Caramel macchiato - expensive but delicious! Not too sweet until the end when you realize all the caramel sank to the bottom :)5/5 Cinnamon roll - made with croissant pastry dough rather than yeast donut dough. Much lighter and fluffier. It was good! Not heavy at all. 2/5 Dark roast coffee - you take it yourself from a pump. The coffee comes black and you can sweeten it yourself if you so choose. The dark roast wasn't very dark at all, more like medium. Not that good if you're looking for dark roast but not bad if you like medium to light roast. Great service and lots of outside seating in the shade or sun. Very cute place!"
"This new East Village location of Blackmarket Bakery is much larger than the original shop in University Heights/North Park. The curbside parking (some metered) was also easier, however be wary of the transients that hang out in this area. There was a live band playing on the adjacent patio during the grand opening weekend last month when I visited near closing time. It was quite festive, and most of the indoor and outdoor seating was occupied. The menu board was dominated by breakfast and lunch sandwiches with descriptions. The beverages, pastries, and sweets were listed by name only. Plenty of baked goods were on display at the service counter. Also on display in the middle of the room at several tables forming an island were merchandise and prepackaged dried goods. I chose one savory and one sweet item for my to-go order. The Phoenix was the lunch sandwich of choice. The combination was made up of turkey, pepper jack cheese, avocado, roma tomatoes, arugula, and red pepper mayo on toasted Dutch crunch. I love that type of chewy, crunchy bread and normally choose it when available. Unfortunately, the kitchen had run out of supply. They made the sandwich using white bread which made it look rather plain. The sweet treat was a creme brulee which was served on a cardboard disc with a tab that made it easy to lift from inside the takeout box. I had no issues with the creamy tart at all. The service was a tad slow in preparing my order. The staff working the counter was very pleasant though. The neighborhood can be really gritty on some nearby streets, but I am happy to see the owners take a risk to open where such a business is needed."
"Although open for 7 months, this place is still new. Prices and selection of fresh produce and packaged food do not seem any "better" than many other places but this store does offer a few items that their closest competitors don't. This local grocery store probably appeals most to recent Afghan immigrants who live nearby - and possibly to various other Muslims seeking reliable fresh halal meat. English is spoken. ;-)"

Kind Coffee is a cozy spot in the heart of downtown that's perfect for a coffee break. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with the smell of fresh coffee and friendly staff.Ambiance:The place has a great vibe with a mix of rustic and modern decor. There are comfy couches and communal tables, so it's great whether you're alone or with friends. The big windows let in lots of natural light, making it feel bright and welcoming.Coffee:The coffee is excellent. I had the house blend, which was smooth and flavorful with hints of chocolate and caramel. The baristas know their stuff--my latte was perfect, with a nice, creamy foam and pretty latte art on top.Menu:They offer more than just coffee. They also have a good selection of pastries that go perfectly with their coffee.Service:The staff are really nice and make you feel welcome. Service is quick, but they still take the time to chat and make sure you're happy with your order.Overall Experience:Kind Coffee is a great place to relax, catch up with friends, or get some work done. Parking can be a bit tough during busy times, but it's worth it. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

I wish I could give more than five stars. We went on a busy Saturday morning. Line of the door. Everybody was still so pleasant and helpful. The food was fantastic. The ambience is perfect. I got the quiche Lorraine and it was amazing. The caramelized onions were everything. I also got a chai latte, which was delicious. My friends got the Mediterranean quiche, breakfast burrito, and bagel Schemer. They all reported that everything tasted good as well. My only regret is not getting a baked good to take home. Outside area is pet friendly. Two different patios to sit on. Definitely would recommend.

Finally got a chance to try the lemon bar and it did not disappoint. The best part about desserts like this is feeling guilt free. Don't forget the caramel latte with almond cashew blend milk. Not a fan of the summer hours because

French Pastry Cafe is a-okay. I was excited to have found another bakery as the Village has many. Decor is cute and family oriented.I've come here 4 times now and have not itched to run back after. When comparing to the other 2 in the area, the taste is not there for me. Everything looks great! If I need a snack, I'm still eating it but I might not care to finish it.I love the nice big lobby. Some out door seating too.

This little cafe made my day! I was tagging along with my boyfriend to his physical therapy appointment in case he needed my help, and upon seeing the cafe sign, I knew I was in for a treat...but after the appointment. I love me an iced mocha and I love trying new coffee places. The owner was super nice and super cool to chat with. Great personality. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our coffee drinks very much (he had a caramel macchiato), and we each had a yummy chocolate almond croissant. The place was neat and clean with a great vibe along with limited indoor counter seating looking out the window. We took our order home, but I'm sure we'll get to stay and enjoy our coffee and snacks there another time.

We were in town looking for something for breakfast! Amazed at the assortment of savory and sweet treats. I landed in a chocolate cream filled eclair and hubby a cranberry scone. Both did not disappoint. Flavorful, tasty, large portions, reasonably priced, great customer service.
Visit Restaurant Page"Delicious and fresh pastries! I've come here many times and love the seasonal assortments. There is a variety of pastries, cakes, macaroons, croissants, breads, cookies, and coffee/tea options to choose from. It's like a pastry buffet and kinda like an 85 degrees with a twist. You walk in, grab a tray, walk down the aisle, and select what you wanna get. The name/type of pastry is labeled, along with the ingredients and the price. This is helpful and allows you to pick and choose what your like. I love the pastries filled with Bavarian cream, the almond croissants are good, and the pumpkin pastry was my favorite. The cold brew with foam is delicious and cheaper than Starbucks, and the lattes were really good. The prices are about average and reasonable. There is limited close parking, but it's located in a shopping center. If you can't find parking in front there is plenty of parking near by. There is 1 table located outside and a few places to sit inside. Not a lot of seating, but I've always taken my pastries to go. The service has been good, and the place is kept clean. Overall worth checking out."
"My husband has been on the search for this ever elusive rum soaked sponge cake he fell in love with while stationed in Naples. Every Italian restaurant and bakery, he would ask "do you guys have baba?" He would be disappointed 99% of the time when they didn't have it. We have only found one other Neapolitan restaurant that happen to have on the dessert menu that night. I was searching for something else when I saw I. The same plaza Dolce Aroma. When I saw it was on the menu, I knew it was worth the drive down. Seeing my husband beam in delight because his search was over was worth it! This place is nestled in the corner of the plaza. The two men were so inviting and seemed interested in my husband's fascination with baba. The owner even offered to add more cream to our cake, but my husband, the purist, respectfully declined.Safe to say, we'll be back soon!"
"Obviously, this is not a secret spot.... but a long line at 9:30am Saturday morning is a tip off. Fresh baked bread, pastries, cookies, coffee and fresh French type sandwiches are worth the wait. Cute small patio and tons of parking is also nice. The pizza side is pretty new, so that review to come. Fun new spot for me! Lets eat!!!"
"Owner lady name Kieu is very nice. They open at 11:30am, but I was in the area and called at 11am. She told me to come over anyway and let me in. I wanted to try the Banh Da Lon because it's one of my favorite desserts. We ended up talking about me, my parents, her kids (bonding moment because I knew a little Vietnamese). When I left to my car, she ended up running out with a package of the Banh Chuoi for me to try for free. It was very sweet of her, totally made my day! :)The Banh Da Lon was good enough, I wish it was sweeter like I'm used to. The Banh Chuoi, my mom liked a lot - I think they are famous for this. And at $2 a tray, come on! What's there to even hesitate about? Try it!"
"I heard about them when I moved to San Diego, they had quite the range of Ube desserts - tarts, brownies, drinks, etc. I finally had the chance to check them out. Here was my experienceAMBIANCE:Parking: There's a small parking plaza for about 20 cars. I didn't have any issues here when I went in the evening.Seating: This is, moreover an order and go type of spot.Vibes: It's in an industrial area with companies, storages, and breweries - coffee and beer. It's cool to see the various companies all in one spot. The spot itself is relatively simple; you enter the room and you're welcomed with a warm greeting. Check out the menu on the screen or see their desserts on the counter, order and enjoy!FOOD:Ube Mochi (Recommend)I've heard of ube brownies but making this mochi is quite the treat. The softness of the mochi is not too sticky. The lite vanilla/nutty ube flavors mixed around make it comforting. With a touch of burnt coconut shavings give it a nice touch.Ube Tarts (Recommend)The bit size are a great size! A nice soft and cold texture pudding to the ube with a sugar cookie-like crust holding it all together helps balance the sweetness to the ube.CUSTOMER SERVICE:Daphne and Dennis are awesome! Passionate about their work and friendly people.TL; DR OVERALL:5 stars. Awesome! Delicious sweets, great variety, and good prices. I'm thoroughly impressed by their sweets and the creativity they've infused ube in from mochi to caffeinated beverages. I'm glad they have a brick-and-mortar now! I wish Daphne, Dennis and the rest of the team all the best. I look forward coming back! #FilipinoFoodMovementTIPS:* Follow them on social media for new goods or local pop-ups!"
"This bakery has a decent selection of Mexican style bread. The bread is made on location. Good taste."
"Appreciate this cafe - they have great selection of fun baked goods, very friendly, and a comfortable local vibe. I appreciate there is Oatly oatmilk. Tried the matcha which has good flavor! Definitely worth stopping in!"
"I only come for the Filipino style chicken and beef empenandas. I will drive clear across town for them. But always call ahead -- because I, apparently, am not the only person in San Diego County who is hooked on this place. It has happened more than once that I have driven 20 minutes whilst nurturing a craving for Coated Cafe only to arrive that they have been for hours sold of of the thing I absolutely need. The owners are caring and absolutely dedicated to their craft. That alone is a draw. And you can taste the love in their food (all desserts with a few savory options). Here, you can find ube items, pan de sal, cheese garlic bread, cakes (sometimes chocolate cakes), mango fruit cups and drinks like passion fruit tea. Lots of other items, including soda to go. There is ample parking and indoor seating for a few people, though I have never seen a person stay. Everyone seems anxious to get their orders and run. Coated is a great spot to grab a bulk buy for the family or the office. Or, if you are like me, just get 6-8 empendads and enjoy them over the next several days. Tips: The cafe is closed on Sundays and Mondays. You can call in your oder in advance, or even call to ask them to hold inventory for you (they will hold for an hour), which is something I have done frequently."
"It's all about the Bundt Cakes with a shout-out to the Bundlets and Bundtinis. The Bundt Cakes come in 8" and 10" diameters of soft moist cake with delicious cream cheese frostings. The Bundtlets are what they call personal-sized cakes, just as tasty and scrumptious as their bigger cousins. And the Bundtinis are on the cupcake end of the scale. It's a beautiful little shop in a large shopping square. Easy access and parking which is rare in this area. Inside, everything is displayed and arraigned with excellent attention to detail. Along with the cakes, they also sell candles and balloons, so make it an event. They also do cake decorating if that's something you're looking for.Oh, let's take cake flavors: Red Velvet, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Raspberry, Lemon (my favorite), Strawberries and Cream, Snickerdoodle, Confetti, Carrot and Classic Vanilla (another favorite)."
"Industrial Grind strikes a great balance between humble local cafe and hip cool coffee spot. Their menu is simple. Pick a coffee preparation, and then pick a flavor to go in it. Many of the options have sugar free versions which is awesome! Service is friendly and I love looking at the cool products they carry in store. I've got to swing by to try their cupcakes, which are only available Saturdays and feature a different creative flavor each time. I've gotten the mocha and sugar free jasmine iced lattes before, and I've gotten them with both regular and oat milk. These coffees are pricy but taste way better than some of the big chains. I am no coffee connoisseur but even I can appreciate the smooth, roasted flavor that really shines in the drinks I've had here! All in all this is definitely a great option for my morning caffeine fix, any time I'm in the area!"
"This place is new (inside 99 Ranch) and i believe they are trying to compete with Zion just down the street, this place reminds me of Paris Baguette.Everything looks tasty, fluffy, and yummy. Try the taro bread.Go ahead and splurge, prices are not too high."
"I first heard about Sunnyboy Biscuit Company (SBC) when I watched a YouTuber reviewing some of his favorite restaurants in San Diego. My YouTube was on auto play and his video randomly played, so I don't remember his name or the channel name. This place is pretty much open daily for breakfast and lunch (7:00 am - 2:30 pm). I came to check this place out on a Sunday morning, around 9:30 am. It was pretty busy here. The line to order was already out the door when I arrived. The line moves pretty quickly, I probably only waited about 8-10 minutes to place my order. There are menus outside that you can peruse while waiting in line. I decided on the Chicken Bacon Avocado Biscuit Sandwich, for a beverage their "Orange Skweez" (Orange Juice), and a peach Cobbler (to-go for later in the afternoon). After a short wait, my name was called and I walked to the counter to pick up my sandwich. I immediately not that it was a pretty thick sandwich. I was trying to think of how I would tackle eating it and realized that they provided a fork and knife. My assumption is some people (like me), might have difficulty taking bites, hence the fork and knife. I ended up cutting it up and taking small bites. It was delicious... I don't know how they decided on arugula and garlic mayo, but it went well with the Rosemary Fried Chicken Breast, bacon, tomato, and avocado. The chicken was nice and crispy. They provided two thick slices of bacon. All of the ingredients along with the biscuit was perfect. It was a nice mix of flavors and textures, and was so tasty! They provided a small container of apple sauce as well. I don't know if it was meant to be eaten individually or spread on the sandwich, but I dipped the chicken into it and it seemed to work. The orange juice was good. It tasted natural and fresh. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. It is a bit cramped inside. They have a couple of tables and then diner style seating along the walls. I don't see how anyone could comfortably sit at the tables without someone getting bumped by others that might be moving around the dining area. It's a little more spacious outside, but on a hot day, I think it would suck sitting outside.Service was good. The woman that took my order was pleasant.Parking is limited in this area (I think this area is considered North Park). They have a few parking spaces, but they were all taken. I was able to find parking on the street.Overall, I enjoyed my experience here at SBC and look forward to returning and trying out other items.4 / 5: Food & Beverage 4 / 5: Cleanliness 4 / 5: Service 4 / 5: Overall"
"Omg what an unassuming little gem in La Jolla, with the best vanilla chai latte I've ever had! The shop is very tiny and cute, super cottagecore, and felt like a homey little shack by the beach. Certainly a more intimate vibe for a quiet morning or to talk to a friend. The girls working when I came in were super kind and made me feel welcome. There are naturally lots of tourists in the area, so if you're visiting our beautiful city I'd definitely recommend this cafe for a small group :) It was pretty empty when I came in, but several tourist groups walking by were eyeing my drink and ended up getting something for themselves. Maybe it caught their eye because I was clearly enjoying it so much -- all compliments to the baristas! So get the vanilla chai!"
"After having lunch with a friend at an eatery within the Del Mar Highlands Town Center, I strolled over to the northeastern section of the shopping complex to visit PURE Cupcakes. The suite was rather small with only one inside table for seating but a few others located out front on the sidewalk. In the glass display cases adjacent to the service counter were cupcakes stacked on different shelf levels. This was one of the few dessert shops in which I encountered products that were segregated by which days of the week they were sold. Six varieties were only available from Monday to Thursday while nine different types were only available from Friday to Sunday. Ten flavors were made daily and labeled as 'Everyday.' Prices ranged from $4 to $5.25 per cupcake. On the bottom row of the main display cases was four kinds of cupcakes that were priced at 50% off. They were leftovers from the Friday to Sunday inventory so I am sure these cupcakes were past their "best by" date. I picked the following three for my order.* Caramel Cashew - Vanilla bean cake topped with caramel buttercream, chopped cashews and caramel drizzle* Lemon Blueberry - Vanilla cake with fresh blueberries folded into the batter, filled with homemade lemon curd and topped with lemon buttercream* Strawberries Galore - Strawberry cupcake topped with strawberry cream cheese frostingThe double shot of caramel in the buttercream and drizzle made the first cupcake my favorite of the trio. It was a bargain to purchase these weekend leftovers at less than $3 apiece. The size of these treats were standard and not the jumbo type that I have seen elsewhere. I felt that my experience at PURE Cupcakes was at a 4.5 star level."
"Ube cheese pan de salUbe cheese pan de salUbe cheese pan de salUnfortunately, saying it 3 times didn't make it magically appear, but I promise that if you get your hands on one, it will magically disappear. They've went up in price, but seriously-what hasn't, but I think they're about $3.75 for 3 or roughly a $1.25 each. Pillowy soft ube delicacies that taste more like creamy Ube bread if anything. Unless you've eaten Filipino cheese rolls, it's not what you're imagining. It's not like a normal cheese roll, it's more like the satisfying taste of a Hawaiian roll. That's the only thing I can compare it too. They never seem to answer their phone, but you might want to call ahead to see if they have them, as they do run out.Maybe get some for New Year's Day if they're open.Enjoy!"
"Walking into this bakery reminded me of Chinese bakeries in NYC Chinatown growing up ..or even the ones found in SF Chinatown. They have a good variety of traditional Chinese pastries, cakes and buns. I tried the sponge cake which was very moist and bouncy! The pineapple bun was good, but a tad dense for my taste. (However, put it in the toaster and it gives the top a good crunch! Don't forget to add butter inside!)The curry flakey pastry was very good as well.Staff are very "no nonsense" so don't expect a lot of chit chat.Overall great place to get some legit Chinese buns and pastries!"
"One of my regular customers at one of my previous jobs used to bring me these Filipino-style pastries from this place, and I finally decided to stop by myself... and wow! I wish I would have stopped by earlier. On this visit I only got two cheese balls and their ube cheese pastry. For three pastries, my total was only $3.25!?!? In this economy, this is a STEAL. The cheese balls were not-too-sweet, airy, and perfectly filled with cream-cheese. The ube pastry was to die for - I am actually going to buy some again even though I went in earlier in the week because I cannot get enough. 5/5 - I have a strong feeling the rest of their offerings will be just as good. YUM."
"This place is just outstanding, not only do they have outstanding pastries they also have incredible breakfast sandwiches. Large, beautiful display when walking in and everything is HUGE. The cookies are massive and the cinnamon rolls are impressive looking. The food is incredible!! Everything I've tried has been fantastic. The breakfast croissant is soooo good, so perfectly crispy and the aioli on it definitely makes it stand out as one of the best breakfast croissants I've ever had. The strawberry shortcake was light and fluffy and delicious. The ham and cheese croissant is mouth watering. Bread pudding is definitely a win as well! The cinnamon roll unfortunately had a lemon aftertaste that my boyfriend did not find enjoyable, but he absolutely loved the macadamia nut white chocolate cookie! Service is quick and friendly. This place has no indoor seats it's more of a pickup place. Prices are reasonable for how big the portions are. Overall if you are in the area it's definitely a place to check out."
"Paid by card. O'Brien's is located on the corner in its own little plaza and offers some plaza parking. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. This is a super cute place with really friendly staff. I've gone here for breakfast on several occasions and love all the pastries and coffee. I also order the avocado toast a couple times and devoured all 3 combinations. My top pastries have been the almond croissant, zucchini muffin, and pistachio croissant. I would definitely recommend this place and will go back!"
"UPDATE on my review:I wrote the below review and the owner Pierre, wrote to make things right. I guess there are two sizes and by mistake, I was charged for the large slice. Wow, what a truly good businessman. He insisted on refunding me since they were out of more rainbow cakes for today. I wanted more to take home to Phoenix but next time. It is an amazing bakery. So delicious! Thank you Pierre!!! I swear I've left a review before and can't find it. I gave it a 5 star rating in the past even the last time I was here 4 months ago. Unfortunately, I give it 4 stars. Why? Same amazing flavors. Very friendly engaging staff. Same fantastic rainbow cake,,,,but,,,,HALF the size for same price! Of course I still got two slices but disappointed about the size. Will I be back next visit? Likely. It's an addiction I have with that almond flavored rainbow cake. It's like an Italian rainbow cookie on steroids! lol Give them a try. They have so much to offer. I got a half chocolate covered coconut macaroon along with my order. I'll keep you posted on how good it is."
"This is our current favorite roastery to pick up whole beans for making espresso at home. Heartwork knows what they're doing and local aficionados recognize the quality. If you're there for a drink, know that it's basically a pick up window and a few chairs, not really a place to go to sit with a group or to work on your laptop."
"Delicious brunch and wonderful experience at Sugar and Scribe. I ordered the mushroom dish which was great, my son ordered the lobster dish with potato side which he didn't finish. The blueberry pancake was great as well. The service was friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful and well executed. Parking was tricky but we ended up getting a spot right in front of the entrance but I can see parking being difficult in general but parking in Sam Diego generally is.Overall wonderful memories were made and Sugar and Scribe gets 5 stars!Thank you."
"This is a cool new coffee shop in University Heights on Park Blvd. I had a matcha latte with a touch of honey and their avocado toast with all the fixings. The avocado toast with all the bling was only $9, and the 12 oz matcha cost $5.The matcha latte, which I had hot, was certainly delicious and not overly sweet, but the touch of honey helped me to temper the bitterness. It was just grand. The avocado toast was really good, too, and came as two slices. I would have preferred a whole wheat toast, but sourdough will do with its good gut properties. The toast came handsomely layered with fresh avocado and thinly sliced tomatoes. The garnish of feta cheese and herb was just right. The you ladies at the counter were super friendly and had that down to earth personalities. They offer inside and outside seating. Street parking is what is available."
