Sandbar Sports Bar & Grill

So we were set to go to an Escape room, but missed our scheduled time due to parking and traffic. We rescheduled, so we had some time to kill. We grabbed a spot on the sidewalk patio and ordered some drinks. I got a beer, but my gf got the Aqua Fresca which she thoroughly enjoyed. For food we all grabbed some tacos. I was curious and tried the fried avocado and the birria taco. The birria was amazing and with the sauces it was my favorite. The avocado was not bad, but lacked the same standout flavors. The chips, guacamole, and refried beans were a nice touch as well. All in all pretty good spot. Plenty of ppl watching which I enjoyed, but the service was off. We had to two drinks that weren't brought out. One had to be reordered and mine had to be taken off the bill. It happens, so still a good time.

Came in for taco Tuesday. The service was slow. They were obviously short staffed. The food was ok. The tacos are more Americanized than traditionally Mexican. The guacamole isn't real avocado it's that fake powdered stuff and the chips are like the old school yellow Tostitos tortilla chips you used to buy in a bag. None of it was fresh. Definitely not worth the $12. The fried mahi mahi is extremely dry and looks like a fish stick. The grilled mahi mahi is very good. The shrimp are just boiled and flavorless. The pork was not good. It tasted a bit like pizza. the carne asada had a weird taste as well. Not sure what was voted best taco. On the plus side it's cheap tacos so you don't feel too ripped off. Didn't appreciate the BS service fee though. Just raise everything by $0.25 to cover your overhead.

Quick seating. Fair prices. Daughter enjoyed the ceviche. Taco plates: beans ok, chips a bit stale, tacos ok. Hubs said burger ok. I had mahi mahi fish and chips. Greasy and dry fish. French fries coated and just ok. Nice waitress and quick service. Convenient location across from Belmont Park. Claim voted best fish taco but hard to believe given my fried fish dish. Sorry, can't recommend.

I Yelped Burger places in the area and this place came up #1Idk how this is possible, this was a 2 out of 10 burger, seriously do not go if you are even thinking burger. Service was OK, yeah just OK and the place was dirty. Forth of July weekend so it's understandable it's not super clean but they should know they need extra help that weekend.Fish taco was on point tko taco other than that not good.

Most importantly the food was absolutely delicious. All of the items in the dishes featured fresh ingredients that can be immediately tasted. The combination of flavors of sweet, savory and spicy led to a fantastic meal. It was lovely watching the sunset on the pacific as we enjoyed cold beers. The staff took care of us well and were very friendly when we chatted them. The food and drinks arrived quickly and I highly recommend a stop here for tacos!

Happened to be back in San Diego and couldn't miss a chance to try this place again. It's as good as I remember and I went twice in the 4 days I was in mission beach. Note that they serve wine in 12 Oz cans. I'm not a fan of canned wine but what they serve is quite good. The taco plate with chips, guac and beans is a good value for 17.50 at the current price. Tacos are so flavorful and tasty. If you can get a seat on the upstairs patio, do it. The views are great. We had Gabriel as our server both times and he was super friendly and on top of it. I hope to visit again!

Came here on our first Friday night in mission beach. It was busy and just before the 4th of July but we got a table shortly for our party of 7. Service was fantastic and quick. Food was very good. Especially the wings.

Good place right on the beach in San Diego. Walking distance from the Bahia Resort area too. Casual American eats and nice service. Food came out pretty quick and hit the spot. Decent prices too and overall a good place to hit up if you're in the area.

Just closer to Belmont Park and to the beach, this place sells some of the great fish tacos. The parking lot is a tricky situation at this place as there is a public parking opposite and very tough to find. They do have indoor and outdoor seating come up we selected to do the indoor seating. Once you reach the front, you will be greeted and provide a seating. They do have an ATM machine inside the restaurant, and they do serve lcoholic drinks.The menu is kept simple for lunch easy to order and I ordered fish taco combo. I ordered one fried fish and one grilled fish taco , and the grill fish taco tasted delicious . The prices are definitely high for the portions. I felt hungry after finishing taco and ordered some more food and fries. But the taste of the food is phenomenal and one of the best fish tacos I had. The service is a little slow, but overall a great experience will definitely visit this place again.

This restaurant was not the best experience. We ordered the Chicken Fiesta salad which I would rate a 8/10. It was very good and the chicken was tasty and thoroughly cooked. Now, for the ceviche...You can tell the ceviche was not freshly made. I know sometimes restaurants make things in batches, but they could've easily drained the old ceviche juices and made new ones. The cucumbers were old, wrinkly, and not fresh. The ceviche was served in a plastic to-go cup, which was really nasty because I'm not sure if this restaurant throws them away or reuses. Seafood and meats should not be served in plastic when you are dining in. The freshest thing about this dish was the avocados. The ceviche had a very strange after taste. The best way to describe the after taste is the same bitter taste that you have when lime has been sitting in water for over a day. I can immediately tell that this ceviche was 2+ days old... flies were also really annoying.
