Overall inside of the place is so nice, very moody and modern. A lot of different artworks and figures that are locked behind the casings. The food was okay, it's what you expect, we ordered the peter and cow boy b bob! (i dont have any photos )The service was good! Our waiter was super nice to offer us salad on the house, as well as two small cream puff donuts. (it was likely since the service was slow..) But, that was a nice gesture made :)

Family friendly and kid friendly. One star off because they take a long time to come over and take your order. My kids like the cucumber rolls and plain ramen. If you are a lover of Miyazaki movies they play clips there. They have robot that serves food - so much fun! Its not excellent but decent Japenese food with generous portions. Large varied menu. I like the make your own bento box - you choose from 3 different lists to build your own (~$15).If you ask they will give you a little salad on the house. The dressing is peanut based, so if you have allergies, watch out. They offer a dessert item that is complementary. Its a cross between a filled donut and cream puff.

I recently dined at Yojimbo Sushi in Alameda on a bustling Friday evening after a recommendation from a friend who frequents their other location at 1221 Park Street. With our appetites in full force, we decided to order a variety of items, including the Chicken Katsu and an assortment of Nigiri.Unfortunately, the Chicken Katsu was a bit of a letdown, as it arrived on the drier side and lacked the tender texture I was hoping for. However, where Yojimbo truly excels is in their Nigiri selection. We sampled the Sake (salmon), Unagi (eel), Ikura (salmon roe), and Tobiko (flying fish roe) Nigiri, and the Sake Nigiri was hands-down the highlight of the evening. The salmon was incredibly fresh and fatty, with each piece generously portioned and melting in my mouth with each bite. The addition of a thin lemon slice was a thoughtful touch, subtly enhancing the flavors of the fish. While the Ikura and Tobiko were solid choices, the Sake Nigiri stole the show. The restaurant's ambiance was also a pleasant surprise. The space was adorned with animated figurines scattered throughout, adding a playful and unique touch to the experience. Despite the lively atmosphere, our food arrived relatively quickly, though service was a bit inconsistent. Our waiter made a couple of minor errors, including serving us the wrong drink and taking an additional 5-10 minutes to bring the bill after we asked.Overall, Yojimbo Sushi's high-quality Nigiri and quirky decor make it worth a visit--just be prepared for occasional service hiccups, especially during peak hours.

Again, I agree with the other Yelp reviews that this place is not as good as the original. But my daughter did not want to go there as this location is more "comfortable."Quality/Quantity - Salad - 3 complimentary salads, thank you. Mainly head lettuce with a slice of tomato.Miso Soup - Came with my Chirashi Donburi. My daughter drank this and she said it was okay.Takoyaki - This was just okay. Good portions.Chirashi Donburi - The fish cuts were not "normal." Almost "chunk" like. And the rice to fish ratio was way off, with not enough rice. I had to eat some of my wife's rice which she did not touch. Lastly, there was way too much head lettuce. Really threw the dish off. I had to pick out the lettuce in the middle of the meal as I just could not eat any more.Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box - Generous portions. Well, another head lettuce salad. My wife, who actually likes salads, could NOT eat any more lettuce also. 4 slices of salmon.49'ers Roll - This looked so much better on the menu. And it was just okay. And we still order this every time we come, lol.The desserts looked really good. Too bad we were so full from eating all that lettuce that there was no more room for dessert.Atmosphere - Love the art and decor. The owner is so talented.Good size location, probably 4 times larger than the original.2 floors, but upstairs is rarely open, or maybe just for private parties...?Indoor and outdoor seating.Clean bathrooms.Surprised they closed the bar. The bar was so popular when this place was American Oak. Whisky bar! I miss them.Service - Hit and miss today. Just drove back from Eureka at around 4:30pm ish and we were hungry. We tried to support the new Thai restaurant across the street, but as luck has it, they are closed from 4-5pm...Price - $88, my daughter paid, thank you.Owner Comments - Congrats on your success at this new location since 2022 and to the two brothers (and parents).

There are 2 Yojimbo locations in Alameda. This location is the more spacious location, so it is ideal for larger parties. The service at this location is nice and they give complimentary salad for large parties.Yojimbo is one of the most aesthetically pleasing restaurants to visit. While dining, you get to see art that are related to Studio Ghibli films and other Japanese pop culture. There are TV's playing Studio Ghibli movies and many figurines are posted around the restaurant. All the food options are great, but I always get the Bento Box Mixer. This option allows you to mix and match different Japanese dishes such as katsu, teriyaki, and sushi. This also has great value since they give a good portion for what you pay

First time at the new location. It is much bigger and more spacious than the former down the street. The food was prepared timely and was good. The service is friendly. It did the job and would probably come back to try the rest of the menu. Cool concept of looking at the collection inside the restaurant.

This place is huge compared to the other one on Park St. They even have one of those robot waiters. We've dined here several time and each time is just ok. We mainly come here for the curry w/ fish katsu. It's really good and they give you a huge portion. I ordered the salmon teriyaki this time. They first served us a complementary bowl of salad. Which I thought was the salad that came with/ my order. But when our dishes came half of my bento box was filled with iceberg lettuce which I do not love, btw. I didn't really touch the salad because I already had a serving of salad. The salmon was overcooked and dry, the teriyaki sauce was ok. It filled me up, but it wasn't really satisfying. I had some of the curry and I really love that dish. It's the best thing on the menu. We've ordered their veggie ramen in the past, but it didn't have much vegetables. The bowl was filled with tons, (like a lot!) of bean sprouts and green onions. The flavor was ok, but wish it had more veggies. I've also ordered the spider roll because I love soft-shell crabs, but sadly it only contained mini crab legs and it didn't have much flavor. Where's the soft shell crab? I haven't had a good spider roll here in Alameda. The ambience is nice, plenty of room for large groups, the wait staff are friendly and it has the same anime decor as the original restaurant. I just wish they served alcohol.

Came here for my birthday dinner (12/13/23) and was not disappointed. I hadn't yet been to this new location and had only been to their original spot down on Park St., so I was excited to check out their new place.Definitely a significantly larger space with way more room and higher ceilings (though I do really enjoy the hole-in-the-wall vibes of the original spot). Better for groups (and we were a group of five this night). Our waitress was very nice and the food came out pretty fast. There was some minor confusion/a mixup over a dish my dad ordered, which they rectified immediately without issue.I got my usual, the spicy miso gyoza ramen, and it was so delicious. I also got a couple pieces of nigiri that were very fresh. We hadn't been to Yojimbo for a few years, so we were all pretty impressed by how generous they are with their portions and especially for the price. We're all so used to getting little food for our money in the Bay Area these days that we were happily surprised by how full we all were at the end of the meal. Just the amount of teriyaki chicken my brother got in his bento was shocking. Now I know that I can go to either Yojimbo location and get a great meal. Will definitely keep supporting both.

The food was good, fish was fresh with good portions. However do not order leftover unless you wanna get scammed. Received a pathetic 8 pc roll drowned in sauce for $23.

The ambience was great! My 17 and 9 year old are into anime and they enjoyed the art all around the restaurant. My kids are picking eaters but they scarfed down all their food. Great place. The waitress was really kind and attentive. Overall a great place to eat and admire the figurines and paintings.
