Recently had our 2nd dinner here (the first time being about 4 or 5 years ago and seated at the bar). Great experience at the bar or table. The place was bustling on a Sat night and we were able to easily get a reservation (we even arrived earlier and they were able to seat us). Food is fresh and great. Service was fine.

Such a cool spot in San Francisco! It's on a side street with two floors and a dark decor on both levels. We made reservations in advance, which I recommend because it was booked on a Saturday night. I did see some open spots at the bar. From the moment w were seated we received exceptional service. Our water glasses were filled and service was very prompt. Our servers were able to provide menu recommendations, which I appreciated.Food quality was on par. We ordered the fried chicken which was juicy and seasoned well without being greasy. The portion on the fried chicken was quite large. I paired this with the macaroni and cheese and I couldn't get enough. Husband ordered the braised beef cheek stroganoff. The meat was extremely tender, and the gnocchi melted in our mouths. Desert was rich, I could not finish! I am a chocolate lover so the triple chocolate tart did the job. This is a fun spot if you love sexy ambience and quality food.

The service was amazing. The ambience was absolutely amazing. There were two of us and my friend got the pork chop which he said he enjoyed I on the other hand had a pile of fried chicken on my plate. I found it kind of bizarre that they would serve fried chicken pieces and it's all stacked up on a plate. The presentation was pretty however I would really highly suggest them to serve this fried chicken with a couple different sauces. I think if I went back, I would not be ordering the chicken. And I believe that $35 for à la cart fried chicken was a little bit over the top in my opinion.

4.5 STARSWayfare Tavern is a great brunch place in San Francisco, in a historic building that was saved from the 1906 earthquake. It's a two-story restaurant with a really cool interior design - it's a mix of an old tavern-like restaurant with an older classic look. The dish to order is the Mary's Organic Fried Chicken. You'll see every table around you ordering this dish. It's a buttermilk brine and is the perfect level of crispiness with some waffles underneath. Be sure to make a reservation weeks in advance, because they're always booked, especially on the weekends. Parking is horrific in this area - you will probably need to find a parking garage nearby.

I came here with my friend. We always love ordering things and splitting them so that we can try more things. Our server figured that out very quickly and served our butter lettuce salad split on two separate plates. Amazing attention to detail. It's $22 even though the menu said $17. It was yummy and I would order it again. The braised beef stroganoff was also priced incorrectly on the menu. Its menu price was $36 but we were billed $41. The gnocchi was very soft and delicious. The meat was extremely tender as well. My only dislike is that there was too much sauce and not enough stuff for the sauce. The sauce was also very strong. The burrata whipped potatoes were very smooth. The Mac and cheese was nicely baked but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. The $13 citrus pavlova was interesting. The blood orange sherbet was delicious and kept that citrus flavor. Highly recommend. My problem with this one is that the menu said it would have vanilla cake. It had crumbs of cake, topped with a meringue like fluff which was good but definitely not cake.

Grabbed dinner here while in the area and was not disappointed. We were seated at what seemed like the last 2 open seats at the bar as the place was absolutely packed and some areas were reserved. The space itself is cozy and classic bar vibes with wood and low lighting. Its a nice space. The starter bread they give you with that butter is absolutely divine. We got the deviled eggs to start. Pretty solid and classic style. The pork chop was a bit tough so it made it a bit difficult to share but the combination of flavors in the dish itself was good. It leaned more on the sweeter side which I didnt mind. The portion was huge! We finished with an espresso martini which again was a classic take on it.Would go back probably for an app and that bread if in the area. Maybe I'd try their fried chicken next time.

Will preface by saying the food was so flavorful and the vibes were good, up until the service ruined it. I wouldn't return due to the service, it just isn't worth it for how bad it was. Our server would not make eye contact and didn't check on us for 25 minutes after we sat down. She seemed annoyed with us the entirety of our meal and it was uncomfortable. Don't waste your money. Los Altos Grill is better and the service is amazing.

Excellent service and waitstaff. Cool ambiance. Tasty burger and fries. Extensive drink list of beer, wine, cocktails, etc. Chocolate pudding for dessert was delicious. However the Yorkshire pudding appetizer/ bread for the table was the unexpected winner. Overall if you're looking for a nice dinner in SF, check this place out!

We stopped in this restaurant with no reservations and we were greeted so kindly and seated at the first available seating. The restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated. The service was amazing - they were very attentive and accommodating. My husband and I split a burger and fries and it was very delicious. We also ordered the Omar spritz which was light and refreshing. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I was in San Francisco for the day with my brother and came to Wayfare Tavern for some delicious eats. My brother has been here before and raved about their popovers and fried chicken. We sat at the chefs table and got to watch the talented chefs prepare in the kitchen. We munched on some popovers (which is bread) while we sipped on our cocktails. We both ordered the espresso martini. We didn't want to stuff ourselves with a big meal so we shared an order of their famous organic fried chicken, Mac and cheese and deviled eggs. Oh and an order of Cesar salad with a crispy slice of bread on top with an anchovy. I'm not a big fried chicken person but I will make an exception just this once. I don't know what batter they used for the fried chicken , but it was so nice and crispy. The meat was flavorful and tender inside and to my surprise, not greasy at all!! It was the best fried chicken I've ever had! I'll come back just for the fried chicken alone. Everything we had was tasty and the service was great! Our waiter checked on us frequently and made sure our drinks and popovers were replenished. So if you're ever in downtown San Francisco, make your way over to Wayfare. Here's my ranking: Service: 10/10Ambiance: 10/10-- love the dark wood, dim lighting , the deer taxidermy mount above the fireplace in the main dining area. Very British vibes. Food: 10/10
