Walnut Avenue Café

This is our regular go to place when we visit Santa Cruz. Locals love it and usually there is a wait, which is totally worth it.Servers are perky and friendly. They accommodate all customizations.Portion sizes are big. Food is delicious. Country style potato hash is amazing.French toast with grilled bananas and walnuts and side of fresh cream is highly recommended. They also give syrup on side which allows for controlling sweetness. Kids love sweeter, but we adults prefer only a dash of it, if any. Overall it is so tasty, you don't need sugar at all.

My brother and i arrived just around 10:30am and we got seated quickly which was nice. Our server was amazing, knowledgeable, and efficient It was my first time here and definitely not my last. The food came out quick and was so so tasty!! I think the French toast was so much better than the DIY omelette but it was still really good! just FYI the omelette is HUGE

Me and my SO went during the morning rush. Our server Fiona was friendly and food was good, good coffee and fresh orange juice yum! The only issue was we found ourselves looking for our server after finishing our meal, it wasn't too busy and we saw her standing around talking to other staff. A manager saw and cleared our table. We waited another 10 minutes before receiving our check. Another waitress completed the bill for us. We are from out of town so it was a little disappointing.

Went this Sunday around 10:30 and it was pretty busy! Staff was helpful and attentive and the food was delicious! This was my third time dining here and I can say it's consistently good!I got the eggs benedict with house fries, which are seasoned potatoes. The eggs were perfectly done, and all the yolks were soft and creamy. The hollandaise was great and mixed well with the yolks and potatoes. The meal was filling and left me satisfied. There's plenty of seating inside the restaurant and outside too! great vibes all around.

Came here instead of waiting 20mins at Linda's and I'm so glad I did location, cozy ambiounce, food and waitresses were all top notch. I'm a big breakfast foodie and the French that did not disappoint!

Great little place we decided to give a try for brunch in downtown Santa Cruz today. We were seated right away midday on Saturday. Service was great and quick and the food was really good too. I got the 2 eggs with bacon breakfast and it was good. I like the house potatoes that came with it too. My wife got the bacon cheeseburger and she really liked it as well. Very glad we came by and will likely be back the next time we are in the area.

French toast is my favorite and the bananas and walnuts made this dish so delicious. The servicer was nice! And the bar area was open so I didn't have to wait in line for service. Great quality food. Highly recommend.

Very yum scramble. Would definitely recommend going here if you have the chance! Staff was very attentive as well!

Ok let me say I've been waiting to come try this place again!! Last time was really good and this time just topped it!! I noticed they have out side seating and that's really nice!! We took our granddaughter here for first time being she is going to UC Santa Cruz now !! And she's loved the food!! And said she will be back!! So saying that the food was great and I'll be putting up more pictures!!! But you guys earned the 5th star !! Service was great!!! If you are close to this area check this place out!!! You won't be disappointed!!!

This is the second time we have been to this cafe and it was as good as we remember. I was surprised that our wait wasn't too long for our large party of 8 on a Sunday morning. Shy was our server and she gave us amazing service. We enjoyed our time and didn't feel rushed even though the restaurant started to get busy after we sat down. We sat on the outside patio and surprisingly it wasn't too loud even though the outside seating is located in the front of the restaurant.I ordered a vanilla latte and it was beyond AMAZING!! It was just the right mix of sweet and coffee tasting. The egg scramble was cooked perfectly and their house fries were seasoned just right. If you are looking for a good breakfast spot this place is it! I will be back next time I'm in the area.
