"Um ma" in Korean means mother. This restaurant feels like the owners are paying homage to their mom which I found incredibly sweet. The food is a modern interpretation of Korean food rather than the classic homemade family flavors that many Koreans are used to. A beautiful fresh take to Korean cuisine. Outdoor patio with benches in the back. A great Korean fusion experience in inner Sunset.

Another one of my wife's and her guest's regular restaurants.Quality/Quantity - Due to the storm/rain, we did not want to risk a slip and fall for our guests, so we got to-go.Sul Lung Tang Soup $22 - Thank you for packing the noodles separately. Also got a side of rice and banchan.Banchan - First of all, not enough for everyone... Not much considering we ordered 4 entrees. Yes, the dak galbi did come with some Banchan, but... We got pickled cucumbers, daikon radish and kim chee. None of which wowed any of us.Roe Bowls $28 each - Clorful, beautifully plated. Two orders. We all felt that they would actually give you more food (maybe just more rice) if we were to eat in. Minimum flavor. Actually all the roe tasted the same?!?! Hopefully not just food coloring. The largest roe was saltier as it should have been. Just read the "find print;" this does not come with the banchan which explains the above banchan comment. Dak Galbi $24 - Spicy Chicken. My entree. Still trying to eat healthier. Everyone, except me, felt this was very spicy, so more for me. Except I did not enjoy the creamy sauce. Can't explain it, but I felt like there was cream or milk in the sauce, but I am confident there was none. Still did not really enjoy it. Banchan.Atmosphere - I was the driver. NO parking, so I doubled parked as I got extremely lucky that tonight's 9th Ave. traffic (due to the storm) was little to none. 9th and Lincoln is known for being crazy busy. Too much traffic, never enough parking to accommodate all the amazing restaurants here.My wife said that they had cool modern decor.Indoor/outdoor seating.Open 7 days a week - See website or Yelp for specific hours.Cut and pasted from your website:"Um.Ma. Also features a luscious back patio with a bar, picnic tables and 80 year old trees where diners will be able to have a drink and lounge to 90's hip hop and dine al fresco."Service - To-go counter service, okay.$30 of $90 promotion on their website.Price - Not sure who paid, but sounded like it came out to approximately $120, not including tip.I felt a little overpriced for what we got. I think I would have enjoyed the meal if we ate in??? At least I would have appreciated the modern cool hip atmosphere.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2019. My wife says we used to come here, but I do not remember eating your food before...

The food was decent. The quail egg banchan was delicious. The chicken wings were crispy but slightly dry. The sauce coating was flavorful. The sul lung tang came with a lot more noodles than ones I've had. The noodles were also made of flour rather than the traditional glass noodles. The pancake was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The servers were very friendly. Our order was placed promptly. The restaurant is bigger than it looks with additional covered outdoor seating. The lights were dim outside and the space is temperature controlled with heaters.

Quick seating, friendly service, clean dining area. We had no reservations on showed up on a Sunday around 1:30pm and there was no wait. We were immediately seated in the back, where there are table top girls at the picnic table seating. We appreciated the propane heaters because it's still chilly out! The 2 servers who worked with us were friendly and prompt with their service.Sides and sticky rice came out first. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they serve purple sticky rice, which is a favorite of mine. The marinated soy eggs were also good, and I added them to my soup. - Korean Fried Chicken, ginger soy - These were crunchy and had good flavor. They paired perfectly with the sticky rice. 5 stars.- Kimchi Fried Rice - The flavor was good, but the egg was too undercooked. My husband didn't want to eat it, and I actually added it to my soup. 4 stars.- Soft tofu soup with pork belly - I'm a fan of spicy and sour, but this soup was a little more sour than I was expecting. I still appreciated the flavor and enjoyed it with the sticky rice. What really surprised me was the very little bit of pork belly that was in my soup. For the price, I was expecting a bit more. 4 stars.- Strawberry lychee aqua fresca - Fresh and flavorful. 5 stars.Overall, ambience, service, and food -- I would give this place a solid 4 stars. FYI there are 2 all-gender, single bathrooms. Street parking only. I'm always happy to try out a Korean restaurant I haven't been to before. I might eat here again if I were in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip just to eat here.

Food was yummy but not the best Korean spot I've been to. Some of my favorite dishes were the scallion pancake (so perfectly crispy on the outside and softer on inside) and the chicken wings (gochujang flavor). I had expected more banchan but it was still delicious regardless. Menu was a bit pricey overall. It was pretty empty when we went around 6pm on a Tuesday night but the service was wonderful.

Such a cute and homey spot across from Golden Gate Park! Their back patio was all decked out with holiday decorations and there was ample heaters - perfect for the chilly city day. Our party of 4 ordered five dishes and felt like it was the perfect amount to try everything we wanted to, while taking some to go.The chicken wings were fried very nicely and the flavor was solid. The bone marrow corn cheese was a unique appetizer - never seen another place that provided this combo, although I could go without it next time since it didn't really mesh together naturally (you have to assemble it yourself for a unified bite). The rockin roe rice bowl was an unexpected standout for me, mainly because of the purple rice! It seemed tasted seasoned with sesame oil which made it super yummy and fragrant, the perfect vessel to pair with the various roes without it being too heavy. The seafood pancake and seolleongtang were also good. Overall, this spot really stood out to me with their service, vibes, and portion sizes!

Overall, the ambience is nice and food is decent. I think they are short staffed but still did their best to accommodate. We were seated at the backyard area and it's nice as it's spacious and can hold bigger groups.
