I used to come to the Grand Century Plaza in SJ and get the banh xeo at the food stall! This one was right next to the sugarcane juice stand. Have not been here for a while, especially since my husband and I have been exploring other food spots in SJ. This time, we stopped by to get an order of the banh xeo. The lady was not very kind and seemed very rushed even though there was literally no customer. The price for the banh xeo was $15.50 on the menu. She charged us $16.50 for to-go. When we got the order, she handed me the plastic bag with a bag of washed vegetables and an open box with the banh xeo. Then she said you wanted it to go so here! Then she walked away as soon as she dropped everything off. I had their banh xeo many times over two decades and was quite surprised at how rude the service became. Their banh xeo did not taste good anymore. It used to be one of my favorites! There were barely any shrimp or pork meat inside. Felt like I was eating mostly bean sprouts, mint leaves, and a bitter version of a bok choy without much lettuce this time. Honestly, my husband (a non-Vietnamese) made better homemade banh xeo than here. My husband's fish sauce tasted 5x before. Their fish sauce was salty and the sauce for the banh xeo matters so much! Definitely would not get banh xeo from here anymore! No service, over-priced banh xeo at a food stand with no customers, dining hall style so you just sit wherever you see seats inside the Grand Century Plaza, and unpleasant food to the palette.

Century Mall's food court is convenient and inexpensive, but you really need to choose wisely. There's always tables and seats available and a few more food stalls have opened. Ate at Thanh Da today. Paid in cash full. $20.25. This review is only for number 26 on the menu, lemongrass chicken rice set meal. Service was quick. Ok ambiance. Not crowded and no lines. It takes awhile 15-20 minutes sometimes to get food here.4/5: Lemongrass chicken flavor and ingredients were very good. Goes very well with white rice. 4/5: Slices of red tomatoes were very good tasting too. Food was very well cooked. 3/5: Honestly, the lemongrass chicken had bones in every bite. Too many bones here. Not sure how the average customer can tolerate with a very boney chicken. It had meat, but bones were very noticeable when eating. Every bite resulted in bones in my mouth. 3/5: Dipping vinaigrette sauce was ok. Strong authentic taste to it. Very Vietnamese. Pairs well with the sliced cabbages under the chicken meats. 2/5: The white rice was overnight rice and harder in texture than most. A bit dry too. 2/5: Side soup was a bit oily and bland for my tastebuds. Food portions or serving size of one order can feed two people easily. They do give you lots of foods here. 3/5: Meal came with old salted green mustard pickles. It tasted ok, but was very old. Not fresh. I was a bit disappointed about the food quality, but I'm sure it's all about cutting costs and reducing business expenses. Overall, I did enjoy my meal. It just gave me some mixed feelings about #26 on the menu though. Maybe I should have picked something else to try. Menu had wide variety selections to choose from. 3.5/3.6 overall rating? For $20.25 paid in cash, it's still a good value for meal set. They can definitely improve here if they want to. I think their lemongrass chicken needs to be boneless/just my opinion. Food presentation is very good and appealing to the appetite.

Found this place inside a commercial building. It is set up like a fast-food and the tables are shared with other fast-food eateries. All the eateries served Vietnamese food such as pho, congee, or rice plates. We had their Vietnamese pancake with Taro milk tea. It's a special meal with any choice of milk tea. The service was fast and the pancake was served hot. The meal also comes with a big plate of mixed vegetables ( lettuce and mint leaves) We enjoyed the pancakes especially with you wrapped them in lettuce. There's shrimp and beef inside the pancake. The pancake is crunchy and delicious. If you come to visit this place, you've to try the food on their menu.

My wife (Vietnamese) and I came here for lunch because she wanted to eat Vietnamese pancake.First - lady at the counter taking our order was rude. I don't speak Vietnamese and she appeared to be hating life. My wife is very soft spoken, but the lady at the counter appeared to be angry the whole time. My wife explained to me afterwards she asked if the $29 grill fish was enough for two plus we ordered pancake. She rudely said if you eat a lot then it will not enough. My wife said thank you. We both just accepted her behavior as maybe she had a bad day. We weren't rude back to her after all she will be handling our food.2nd - food - I hate wasting my time writing reviews but this warrants it. Food was NOT GOOD, NO BUENO. The trays that food was served on top of were dirty, as in black dirty. We were also not given plates to put our rice paper on top to wrap our grilled fish and pancake.Afterwards my stomach was screaming, I am was sitting on my toilet with explosive diarrhea sweating bullets. So bad my lips are pale. This experience completely drained my soul. Please, if you enjoy spending an eternity of the toilet come here. Otherwise stay the hell away from this place.

This is a fairly new restaurant right in the middle of Vietnam Town. Their specialty is supposedly hot pots but they were rather pricey and we were not in the mood for that.Pros: very clean dining area, very clean bathroomcons: below average food and service. What we ordered:- chicken with lemongrass: the chicken was rubbery. The order was supposed to come with a bowl of broth but the waitress forgot to bring it. When it finally came out, it tasted like it came straight from a can. The picked mustard green that came with the dish was barely pickled.- duck porridge with salad: the duck was dry and bland. The salad was cut too thickly. The waitress forgot to bring the porridge!

Damn I should've ordered the duck porridge...which seems to be their specialty. I was thinking that maybe one day I should order that...but my disappointment superceded that thought. There ain't gonna be a rematch! I got sick of seeing the duck porridge come out from the back over and over again in anticipation for my order, the fish porridge. I was #39 and I noticed that #s 36, 37, 38....40, 41, 42, and 43 were duck porridge orders that came out before mine. I actually waited 12 minutes for my order. Nobody should have to wait that long...IN A FOOD COURT! In all this time, Ron L. ordered from another restaurant, got his large order and finished it. Since I was in the mood for some porridge and a chinese donut for breakfast, I was devouring my order. As far as taste and price goes... I've had better.

I shared the Seafood Hot Pot with my mom (it was $35.99). It came with rice noodles (or egg noodles) and an assortment of vegetables and seafood). We love the broth and for the price the meal was quite filling for 2!

The owner was rude, food was raw but luckily it was refunded. Other stalls there are a lot better. Would not recommend.

Horrible service! Fried calamari and chicken noodle soup took 20 mins, people behind us all get their food. You won't get it until you ask them where the food is. Fried calamari is dry and when I ask for the fish sauce, the young girl at the front seems don't get it and attitude start getting bad. Will not recommend to come here.

I wasn't that impressed w/ the place. This eatery is inside an asian plaza (vietnamese). A fast-food food court essentially. It was a crazy weekend leading to the lunar new year and the wait was insane, although it was in between meals. The price range is about $12-$13 per order. I ordered a chicken salad with the rice porridge. Porridge wasn't porridge consistency, the water separates from the rice so it wasn't cooked long enough. i'm not sure if this is the viet. style or just made in big vats fast. The salad was shredded cabbage under the chicken. I was expecting it to be a cold dish, but pleasantly, the meat was warm. You get a side dressing for the "salad" dish. The porridge seemed to have some flavor. All in all, okay. I probably would opt to eat at a restaurant than in the food court, though.
