Teaspoon has recently open its new location at Newark. It's quite surprising that they seemingly don't get a lot of customers. It could be because I got here during the afternoon during the weekday. This location will catch up. They have mini arcades you can play. They also classics as well as their own signature drinks. It's quiet here and it's only one person working here, but the service is quick. They also serve desserts too, which are displayed close to the menu, but they seem to be kinda pricey. I'm glad that it's close to Breeze Cafe and Lac Coffee since I also like going to those places too. Looking forward to trying more!

As one of their newest additions to their Teaspoon locations, this branch has quite a bit of competition in this area but due to brand recognition and consistent quality of their drinks, it's sure to thrive with a few potential tweaks to bring in the crowds! This tiny mall has extremely tight parking spots and can be quite a pain during peak times but fortunately, it's not a well visited throughout the day. Some pockets, particularly towards the ends of the mall can get busy but most folks are in and out of this place due to classes or activities for children or food/beverages.As you step foot into this space, you'll notice how clean and organized it is. From the clean floors and dine-in spaces to the display case for their pastries and monitors for their ever expanding menu, you can soak in the newness of the shop. The staff will greet you and may even suggest a few flavors as you peruse the menu. They seem to have seasonal flavors and specials to keep it fresh for regulars while also highlighting the top favorites for new patrons looking for a change of scenery. You may even have a chance to try out a sample of their teas! The variety of drinks will surely include a flavor profile fit for anyone on any occasion. They offer a good mix of fruit based drinks that are non-caffeinated as well as caffeinated tea infused drinks. A few of their top drinks can also be made hot if you prefer, although, I think they all taste a bit better in their iced variation. My personal favorite is their black sugar assam, although it's a bit sweeter than what I am typically used to (but it has a strong tea flavor which I really enjoy and it comes with boba too). Their boba is decently chewy and a bit on the sweeter side - they don't taste that great in the hot drinks. For those looking for a place to camp to study or work, they have free WiFi available and comfortable seating which seems to be vacant usually as most patrons take their orders to-go. In addition to their drinks, it seems this location also has a collection of snacks like chips as well as desserts like macarons and small cakes.Swag in the form of glass bottles is also available for purchase but other than owning the swag as a fan, there's not much of an incentive - there's no discount for bringing your own reusable bottles/cups (they claim due to sanitation concerns) unlike the big coffee chain just down the street. They do have a mobile app that allows you to rack in rewards points that can be redeemed but outside of that, there aren't many offers or freebies to get you in the door.Overall, Teaspoon navigates their market for milk tea and fruit tea drinks and while they do a great job at making quality their top priority, I feel there's something lacking in terms of building a strong customer base. There's very little incentive to bring folks in - not many promotions or distinguishing factors that are communicated to potential patrons to make them their top choice in a saturated market. When it comes to milk tea, coffee, or sweet non-caffeinated drinks, there are quite a few choices just within a couple blocks of this location and Teaspoon, unfortunately, doesn't ever come up top of mind. In the Bay Area, purely good quality isn't enough to bring in the crowds; there needs to be some additional qualities to help Teaspoon stand out. I look forward to coming back to try a few more of their drinks but I hope by then, they've figured out a way to sustain a thriving set of return customers in addition to enticing new ones to take a gander - with just a spoonful of their tea, they'll be a fan like you and me!

Teaspoon opened recently in Gong cha's space. Obviously redecorated with a soft, whimsical sign & mural. Just 8ish tables inside for seating. Hip hop music in background.T is an American boba shop making unique boba and tea creations. No "me too" menu. Toppings are on the front counter. They use bobas created in California. Drinks made in plain sight, not behind curtains or a door.Offerings: Signature (boba) drinks, hot teas with unique profiles. Ordered at counter, pd, drink ready in minutes. No other patrons present.Sips: Liquid Gold (6.50) 24 oz. 25%sugar, reg. Ice-sweetness/ice just right. Honey slightly subtle.-none of the ice, honey, tea, cream or sugar overpowered each other. Subtle Tea felt but not tastable. Better than bland versions at other boba shops. 4ish starsNote: very active parking lot. Watch for cars when backing out to space or when walking...

I came to check out the new location and it was very pretty inside! There are some seats and free wifi available so I imagine it is a nice place to study/get work done. Staff is very friendly and made my drink fast. I like how they had the hot drinks menu out since it is getting chilly outside now. Minus one star because I wish the boba serving was bigger! I've been to many boba spots and it seems like they skimped out on the boba portion.

Came in with a large group during labor day weekend after hearing there's a new teaspoon location! I always get the silky mango which never fails but I wanted something less artificial and went with a simple milk tea this time. I got the liquid gold 50% sweet because that's usually the perfect amount for me at other tea shops, but I guess I learned my lesson not to order that here. The drink turned out super bland! It lacked tea flavor and sugar to enhance said tea flavor. I also tried a plethora of other drinks from my group and none of them blew me away. They were all very okay, and most drinks were bland as well. Was really disappointed by this specific visit and location. We all ordered on a kiosk but you can also order up front at the register. It took around 20 minutes for everyone in my group to get their drinks (around 10 of us) Props to them for handling such a large order in a decent amount of time! Place is very spacious and looks much tidier than the previous gong cha. Workers were very welcoming too.

Visited the newest location after brunch at Breeze Cafe. Spacious, clean, and inviting inside. They had samples of Thai tea, Guava Sunset, and Peruvian brownies. Order via kiosk or with a worker. I had ordered online for pick up and was worried the drink didn't have any classic cream since the confirmation didn't say so. Ian helped me out. He was super attentive and informative!I ordered my mom's go to drink for her to enjoy: Rooibos Herbal Tea (caffeine-free)Lactose-free house creamHoney BobaCrystal Boba0% sweet, regular iceThey don't skimp on boba portion! Honey boba is prepared well, chewy and soft. The topping bar is so cool! It's easy to see exactly what's going in your cup and find new toppings to enjoy. There's a drink for everyone. Customize based on tea or choose a fan favorite. They even have flavored lemonades if boba isn't your jam. I like their classic Thai tea with grass jelly, lychee on lychee, and classic house black milk tea. Can't wait to come back and try the new seasonal Starlight Sesame drink featuring hojicha, creme brûlée foam, and black sesame dust.

We saw on Facebook promotions about the Grand Opening so we checked out the place the week prior during the soft opening and then again today for the Grand Opening. We got there fairly early about 1.5 hours before the opening and there was a long line already. They had a live DJ and a stand where the workers would walk the line to provide everyone water, juice, and taro milk tea. It was very thoughtful of them to provide that since it was pretty hot today. While waiting in line, they passed out raffle tickets for drawings happening every half hour. I also liked that they passed out VIP passes with a number so it gives everyone an accurate count of if they are within the first 100 customers to get a free teaspoon glass bottle. They took our order outside and let us in when it was ready. We both ordered the Caramel Cream since last weekend I ordered the Black Sugar Assam and it was not as good as the Caramel Cream. Comes with honey boba. Pretty good, but our favorite is still Feng Cha.The interior is very nice and clean. The glass bottles are great. Can't wait to use them. Overall good experience.

A pretty generic boba place. Nothing is too special about this place but to be fair I only got basic flavors. Issue with one of drinks is that we got Liquid Gold but we got less sweet. We expected it to be more bitter with flavor, but it just tasted watered down. Service wise it was easy and no issues. And a great yellow studio that Teaspoon provides.

Grand opening sign was up! Nice clean and spacious. Plenty of parking in a plaza filled with other restaurants. We were the only customers there during a late afternoon. Staff was friendly and offered us to try their two new drinks, ube and sesame. We passed bc even though it was sitting in ice, it was directly in the sunlight during this heat wave!! And she was unsure if it had dairy in it, so we didn't want to chance it.Teaspoon is good and consistent it's just so expensive! $1 for boba! When most places are 0.50-0.75 cents. Each drink came out to $7.75 each before tax. They have a rewards program so that's always a plus!
