My mapo tofu was really good as was the hot and sour soup. It was hot even after I got home. The hot and sour soup was good and very flavorful with a good balance of spice and tartness. The mapo tofu was also very flavorful and had a good spice level as well. It had a hint of Szechuan peppercorn and good garlic, and other flavors.Overall, I would definitely go again. The food was served very quickly. I was in and out of the restaurant around 10 minutes.

I haven't been to this takeout place for a few years, but was in the area and got a craving for salt and pepper chicken. I popped in and was able to quickly order my food. You can do it the old-fashioned way or you could do it on a tablet. You can also order online which looks super convenient. The food was cooked fast and fresh and was delivered to me piping hot. It was absolutely delicious, lightly battered and crispy with fresh tasting chicken and vegetables.Since I usually like to do takeout, this is the perfect place because the food is cooked fresh and their emphasis is on quality ingredients and not on maintaining a sit down restaurant.Parking is easy and their location is very convenient. I highly recommend trying them for delicious hot fresh Chinese takeout.

New Owners are terrible. Food is old and sitting around all day. $13 for a crappy item.

14030 Blossom Hill Rd Los Gatos, CA 95032(Cross St Harwood Rd)"Tea Garden Chinese Kitchen" is a small takeout restaurant that offers a limited menu of Americanized Chinese food. It's located in a small shopping center anchored by a Walgreens. I was there on a Thursday afternoon, around 530pm. As I walked in the place, all you see is a huge kitchen and two tiny tables. Looks like they had no orders, as workers were just sitting around. So I didn't even look at the menu. It's a Chinese restaurant, so I confidently asked for an order of Beef Chow Fun to-go. The young man said that they don't serve that anymore. They only serve fried rice and chow mein. He pointed at the electronic ordering screen, and asked me to use that. I ordered: Chow Mein, thin noodles, w/ Combination shrimp & meats( with tax and everything it came to $15.24). The way the menu works is if you want veggie chow mein, it's $10.95. But I wanted Combination (aka House) Chow Mein, so add $3 more. So my House Chow Mein rang up to $13.95. Actually, my chow mein was very good. I watched it being made. It's "hot wok" style of cooking. The result is hot, fresh, and tasty chinese fast food. My order was loaded with juicy shrimp, and tender chicken and beef. The noodles were moist, but a bit greasy. It also had a spicy flavor. I notice other Yelp reviews mention a recent change of ownership. Previous reviews show food being served in large white tray containers. Now they use smaller black microwavable trays. So it looks like portions are smaller. Overall, this place resembles a ghost kitchen. It's setup for electronic ordering, even though a human being was standing right in front of me. It's primarily takeout, as there's only two tiny tables. So most likely it's a cashless business. No fortune cookie!Positive notes: -Free parking-delivery available-paper menu available-napkins and utensils incl, no chopsticksWould I return? Maybe, if I'm in the areaSave $$$, order it and pickup yourself.

I came in during open hours, in the afternoon, the door was open ! When I walked in they had trays of food everywhere, like they were filling a huge food order. An asian woman started yelling in Chinese and was looking at me quite agitated. I asked if I could order some food and she yelled again. An Asian man came in to the restaurant behind me with keys and told me that the restaurant was closed and they weren't serving food today. So if you decide to close for a day then put a sign on the door or be decent on how you treat people and tell them that you're not open but to be screaming at your customers and looking at them like they something wrong is absolutely ridiculous ! Horrible customer service,I will never come back to this place.

After more than 31 years, the previous owners of the Tea Garden have retired. There are new owners now. I have been patronizing the Tea Garden for about 31 years (and it was opened before that). I was saddened to learn of their retirement, but was fearing that it might happen. Over the past several weeks there has been no answer on the phone when I called to place an order. Yesterday when I called the phone was answered by someone new. I tried to order several dishes that I have enjoyed for years and are no longer being offered. So, I went to the location to see the new menu. There are no longer any dine-in tables in the restaurant (but hardly anyone used them before, it was primarily a take out place). Ordering is done on a tablet on the counter (or online at 4083560022.com). A Staff person assisted me with my order, entering the items on the tablet. The menu is extremely reduced compared to the original menu. (I attached a copy of the complete new (2024.0504) single page menu and also the original owner's recent menu (on 2022.0930) two pages).I decided to try two dishes: Chow Mein with pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp ($13.95) and Fish Filet in Black Bean Sauce ($12.95).My wife felt that the chow mein could have been a little bit more seasoned and sauced. She felt that it was a bit bland and had to add plum sauce to it at home.I thought that the Fish was good. It was tender with many pieces of fish and vegetables (including green and red bell peppers) in a tasty slightly salty sauce. We will have to try several other dishes to form our conclusion.I wish that they had adopted the recipes of the original Tea Garden, which were great.Note that the hours have changed. They are now Monday - Sunday 11am to 7:30pm (as shown on their printed menu)

This is a hole in the wall with 4 tables and not much to look at. it is geared more towards takeout customers as opposed to dine-in. Case in point, they serve the food even for dine-in in a to-go box. The folks are right about the woman at the front being curt...I get it though. It's just her and one other person doing it all.The food was meh, I don't see myself coming.

Welp, the new owners managed to turn this place into mall food, at best. I wanted to give them a chance, so we ordered 2 of our standards, Salt and Pepper Chicken and Chow Fun. Except their Chow Fun is not the flat noodle that the former owners used, so we ordered Chow Mein. The containers are much smaller (shrinkflation). The Salt and Pepper Chicken was clearly not fried long enough, no deep golden color and no crunch. They were soggy (more like how calamari strips saute up). Bland with hardly any salt, very little pepper, and no hit of sugar. Also, no spicy red peppers. The green bell peppers and onions were soggy, too. It's a *completely* different dish. It's too bad that they didn't use the same recipes as the former owners. Maybe their other stuff is ok, but based on this, it's a no for me.

Last night I picked up eggplant, a chicken dish, beef and scallion, sweet and sour pork, and hot and sour soup. I was looking forward to trying the new chef's versions of the dishes at Tea Garden. I do miss the teriyaki beef, which was certainly not authentic, but it was so, so delicious. That no longer is on the menu.Unfortunately, I was disappointed that the rice was from the microwave, the sweet and sour pork was not sour enough and had no crunch left (previous owners waited for pick up then sparingly sauced the pork so it had crunch), the soup was not very hot or sour. I will try going to the restaurant again. It's super easy to drive there on my way home. If the food doesn't improve though, I will likely stop going. Hoping for the best.
