Taqueria Las Pencas

Great food! We tried their food truck version, and were very happy with our order. They seem to be serving quality authentic Mexican food.We got the tacos and the shrimp burrito. The tortillas were delicious, and the filing for the burrito had a good ratio of everything. Not too much of the rice or beans so you don't get enough meat. Each bite I was able to find a big piece of shrimp. They also definitely don't skimp on the good ingredients. I added avocado to my burrito and was very happy to see lot of it throughout the burrito, and again, the shrimp they added were hudge and not at all hidden behind blankets of rice. The prices are good, and the portions are generous. The side sauces are also delicious. The green one was very light and refreshing, and the orange had a strong kick to it, and as someone that can't get enough of spicy food I was very excited.Our food only took about 10-15 minutes to be made, and the staff was very nice. Wish they had a little more seating, but the bar the food truck was parked next to had more than enough room.

Las pencas is a staple in SSF neighborhood. One if our go to spots for al pastor tacos or carne asada burritos. I like how they always provide chips and salsa with your order. The green salsa from here is my favorite, always spicy! The staff is always friendly and service is fast even when they are busy. Every time ive been they are always going around and cleaning the tables. Plenty of paid parking outside. If we can't make it in, we always doordash and they are good at following any specific instructions we request.

First time trying Oaxacan dishes, and it was delicious! Tlayuda was a great mix of different meats (not sure what the brown and red meats were but such good marinade + chorizo) combined with Oaxacan cheese, lettuce, and black bean paste. Packed with flavor and great crunch!! I tried the gorditas as well, and the carne asada was my favorite. The lengua and cabeza were a little too meaty for me if that makes sense haha. Otherwise 4.5/5 place!! The people working were very nice too :)

Visited several taquerias in the area, but first time at Las Pencas. Portions were pretty decent for the price. There were many things I wanted to try, but hubs and I decided to share the following:1) Gorditas arrived first. Ordered them with Al Pastor. They were crispy and piping hot. Probably the dish I enjoyed most. However, one was pretty filling. 2) Tacos w/ tripas- extra crispy. Another good one. 3) Menudo - kinda plain when eating this after the gorditas and tacos since the other two were stronger in flavor. Big bone with cartilage in the broth, which hubs liked.Hubs and I were quite stuffed after. Observed someone eating the Tlayuda while we were there, which looked really interesting. I'd want to try that the next time I'm there.

This is probably a superior pastor burrito. Great flavor and that mix of soft bits and crispy bits that makes pastor so good. There's sort of a little parking spot out front that you can use if you've already called your meal in that is pretty convenient.

Las Pencas is the best!!! The employees are so sweet! The food is so authentic and delicious!!! The ambience ance is so charming! I had the Mole Negro and it was superb! Served with homemade tortillas, what's not to like! Definitely have to try it!!

Horrible service by the CASHIER!! first time being there do not live in San Francisco I live five hours away will never be coming back when I come to visit. Came with my whole family for New Year's Eve. The cashier was so rude to everyone in our group. It was about 10 of us. She said they were about to close. We got there at 3 PM. She mentioned that we're gonna close at 4 PM. We told her if she still had time to service us she said yes, even though she was being rude to us. We order our food and every single time we requested for something like salsa, napkins, plates to go she was rude. She made us get in line twice to get napkins then for to go plates. Honestly she had no skills on customer service nor professionalism. Fire her!! She sure made my family all feel uncomfortable. Who wants to go eat and experience this type of service. Food was good but not great.

Food is good, but service is horrible! I went in this morning and was the first in line. Ordered 2 breakfast burritos and tipped 15%. Someone came in and ordered after me and then a group of workers came in and ordered their food.The guy who ordered after me, got his food. I didn't think anything of it and assumed my food would be next. Then they started bringing out the workers food. A plate, a torta and tacos.I finally asked about my food and they told me it is almost ready. I looked and they had just put my tortillas onto the grill. Not sure what I did or why they chose not to make my food, but I will not be going back.I asked for a refund and left. I will never go back.

What I love about Las Pencas is they're always fast if I need my order, ASAP. If I'm feeling real hungry, I go with their super burritos.The super burritos are nice. They're not as huge like Farolito's right on Grand, but they're pretty smack. They're packed with flavor with all the ingredients, carne asada can be a little more juicy though. This is one of the few burrito spots where I can finish it all, and feel pretty good right after. I don't feel too stuffed eating after. 8/10.Plenty of seating inside. Perfect spot if you're smacked over at Hometown Heroes.

My wife and I have eaten at this establishment several times, and each time the food has been awesome! The service is good for always being so busy. The restaurant is clean and the music is always going.
