Quick service, good food, will come back! The quesabirra were yummy but ok on the consume for me... it had a bit of a Tabasco flavor which I'm not a fan of.The crispy tacos were yummy... gonna try with shrimp next time! The chips & salsa are $2 with refills.. salsa has a kick and were good. Prices are very reasonable and comparable to a truck! Note a 4% credit card fee so make sure to bring cash to save some $

Former Los Charros restaurant still reliably cranking out the best Mexican food in Mountain View! All the chairs still say Los Charros.Pay at the register when you're ready.Chips and salsa are no longer complementary :(The Pollo Asada is still the best I've ever had, and is the baseline I measure all other grilled chicken against.The Carnitas is just perfect. Salty, juicy, crispy on the edges, packed with flavor. Can't go wrong adding it to nachos, tacos, ect...I tried the Quesaberria, a relatively new menu item. When I say new, I mean they didn't serve it 20 years ago when I first started going here. The beef was wonderfully spiced and the crisped tortilla stood up to the creamy Chile.

We came here late at night on a Sunday and surprisingly it was still open even though a lot of the other restaurants were closed. I actually really enjoyed the food here as well as the environment and the service. I ordered the shrimp taco and the beef taco and really enjoyed both of them as the meat was delicious and fresh. Also really liked the one dollar chips and salsa as well.

Came to La Espuela on a rainy day in Mountain View. Ordered an al pastor burrito, very tasty and solid for the price - would order it again. We also got some nacho chips too which plated well with the meal. The staff was nice and our food came out pretty quickly. There were a few parties inside and the inside decor was very nicely dressed in traditional Mexican colors and artwork. If you want a quick meal at a Mexican restaurant on Castro, I'd recommend checking out La Espuela for a bite.

I've been to DTMV countless times, and I never knew this restaurant existed. I just happened to see it when I parked in the lot behind it. I was heading to a different restaurant, but when I saw this, I decided to give them a try.I ordered the enchilada plate. It comes with 3 enchiladas with your choice of red, green or mole sauce, rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream. I went with red sauce. The red sauce was good, but I should've tried the mole tho. Next time. I also asked to have one with cheese, chicken, and carnitas. Food came out pretty quick, under 10 minutes. Everything was delicious. Out of the 3 enchiladas, my favorite was the carnitas. Chicken was just ok. My mom ordered the fajitas, which looked really good too. She liked it.I will definitely be coming back!

I go to Taqueria La Espuela once in a blue moon. It's good. It's very old school. It's not fancy. It will not impress a first date. I love sharing my nachos with lots of chips and completely smothered with cheese, sour cream, guacamole & salsa. My pals didn't want to eat my chips in case I didn't have enough.

I came here with a recommendation from a coworker and had high hopes. The initial experience upon walking in is pleasing. The store feels authentic and the staff was kind to offer any questions I had.Thoughts on the food. I ordered the veggie burrito and highly enjoyed the snacking experience (it was also pretty big). My wife had me order her the Canasta (a fried flour tortilla bowl with refried beans, meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, guacamole & sour cream), it sounded great and similar to what we've had at other Mexican restaurants. While eating the Canasta we noticed an odd almost cleaning supply or soapy taste to the fried tortilla bowl and my wife said the meat didn't taste quite right which led her to only eat half before mentioning it was upsetting her stomach.We definitely still want to give this place another try as my food was tasty (the bowl may have been a fluke) and it's relatively close to where we live, although it might be a little while before we return. If you're thinking of going here and are in the area I'd say give it a shot, but I would also like to try a few other local spots first.
