Taqueria El Grullense

I have been going to this specific location for their pozole since i first tried it over a year ago and they wowed me. This comment was done with careful consideration and i want to approach it as fair as possible. This is also only regarding the $25 bowl of soup and my recent experiences in last couple of months. With that being said, when this location is on, they are on and when they are not, they are really not. With how many times i have ordered either in person or via DD, they have not added the sides or have skimped on the meat at least 65% - 70% of the time. The last time i ordered in person and advised them that they forgot to add the cabbage, i was treated as if i was wrong , given dirty looks and spoken to with attitude and not great things said about me in Spanish in front of me. This was over a month or so ago. I decided to not go in to the location anymore. Today i was craving some and ordered through DD and was given no meat in the soup, i searched through it and found only bones & fat. It is like i am eating vegetarian pozole. With that said and due to how i was mistreated and they still cant seem to get it right when sending this dish, this will be the last time i order from this location ever again. I will find another place that serves pozole and spend my money at a location that actually cares about quality and their customers. I suggest you all do the same if looking for pozole. I am definitely open for any suggestions in the area that serve good pozole.UPDATE: 2/24/25Thank you for messaging me and offering a free pozole as a way to make up for the issues. As stated in my message, I do not want it. I found a new place that does Pozole the right way and for a lot cheaper than what you now have yours sold for, and most importantly they smile and greet their customers when they walk in the door. I rarely post Yelp reviews, the company either has to be way over the top great or pretty bad and after giving your business several chances,... and even after your team disrespected me in front of other customers and thought I didn't speak Spanish to understand what they said about me or my mom, i reluctantly ordered again and this last time you took the cake. No meat in your Pozole?.... Just bones & fat for $25.... And you still send it to your customers..... You should have fixed the issue(s) before it got this bad, now I am officially done with your "Taqueria". Thank You but no thank you

I got the chicken Milanese. It's gone up $6 to $24 a plate and the quality has gone down. The place is dirty and the need to clean the water dispenser. I got water because the charged me $5 for jarrito tamarind ontop of the $24 for Milanese. It was ok. The chicken had a ton of grisly stuff. There were many things that didn't fit the price. The gross bathroom and the quality of ingredients. Oh and they have avocado on the photo and I even asked if there was avocado and the guy said yes. There was not. I asked for whole beans they gave me refried. I won't be back update. They corrected the beans after I asked. They could not communicate with me about the avocado

Not a bad spot, I ordered a carne asada torta with a pina agua Fresca.It was a little pricey, overall would give it a 3/5

Terrible service, they gave me the wrong Order, they got upset for having told them that my order was not correct, they discriminated against me for being a trans woman, it is something very out of place that they attack with my person. I do not recommend the service of this establishment.

Filling food and good value! I drive by this place literally every day, and finally decided to stop here. There are so many El Grullenses in Redwood City that it's hard to pick which one to eat at. The menu at this place is huge: I want to say there were around 50 pictures of different dishes pinned to the walls near the front counter. I kept it simple and ordered a super burrito with chicken and no beans. I only had to wait around 5 minutes before my food was ready, and I nearly did a double take once I saw the size of the burrito. I swear this thing weighed something like two pounds! The chicken was tender and a little smoky, the rice was hearty and warm, the cheese (queso fresco) was creamy, and the salsa provided a mild spicy flavor. I wasn't able to finish the whole burrito due to its size. You could easily split this with two people. I just wish the salsa was a little more evenly distributed, and towards the end of the burrito, it got greasy, but the quality you get is solid for the price (around $14.30 after tax).If you're in Redwood City and need some filling Mexican food, go to El Grullense Grill #1!

Ahem...beware that pictures above the cash register/counter DO NOT have the prices.So, I was in the mood for a chili relleno, so I got the plate (1 relleno w/ rice, beans, small salad and some tortillas) and a bottle of water, and just blindly put my credit card down.Had a seat and looked at my receipt. $22 for the food and $26 total! I know it's the peninsula, but damn!!!...it's just vegetables, so I guess the cheese was...umm...premium Oaxacan?!? It tasted good, but nothing special.But, the folks were sweet and yes, the salsa bar was legit, and I did get a free bag of 7 tortilla chips, so there's that.

This place is super yummy my sons teacher told me about it.The pricing is pretty good . The service was great the pricing of the items is cheap.There is plenty of room to sit ambiance is alright.

The worst food I have ever eaten in my life! The place was so dirty, it was literally like eating in a garbage dump. The tables were filthy, and the kitchen area was freezing cold, clearly showing how terrible the place is.The Health Department should shut this place down immediately without any hesitation because the risk of food poisoning right after eating here is extremely high. Stay away from this awful place!
