The best tamales in San Jose! I absolutely love there tamales Very delicious and packed with flavor! I ordered the Green Chile Tamales, Pork & Chicken! So good!!Service was fantastic! Sergio was so kind and patient! You can tell he loves doing this! He offered free Chilaquiles on my next visit! So kind! There located right off of alum rock on the east side of San Jose! They have a set up going on with a big sign you can't miss! This Visit didn't have a long line so I lucked out! Usually there's a line but not so bad! It's still worth the wait!

At first, I was skeptical when my wife mentioned a place called Tamales El Tamalero. I've tried so many tamale spots over the years that just didn't live up to the hype. But, long story short--I decided to give it a try, and I honestly can't find the words to express the satisfaction I felt here. From the welcoming customer service to the quality of the food, this place is on a whole different level.After years of searching for truly exceptional tamales, I finally found them here. The way they blend flavors is amazing, and the grand surprise was the chilaquiles topping on the tamales--just wow! And their champurrado? It's one of the best I've ever tasted, so rich and delicious. Tamales El Tamalero is an experience worth savoring!The tamal I recently tried was an absolute delight, perfectly encapsulating everything a tamal should be. Wrapped in a warm, soft corn husk, it was filled with a savory blend of ingredients that melded together in perfect harmony. The masa was incredibly soft and fluffy, moist but not overly so, which made it the ideal base for the filling. Inside, the spiced pork (or chicken) was tender and flavorful, infused with a sauce that had just the right amount of kick.What really impressed me was the balance of flavors--nothing was too overpowering, allowing each bite to highlight the rich, earthy taste of the masa with the slightly tangy and spicy filling. The aroma itself was mouthwatering, transporting me to a place of comfort and warmth. This tamal was clearly made with love and tradition, and it's the perfect comfort food for any time of day. Yes! We love our street food when we're in San Jose! Part of our son's football travel is the food! We have been seeing Tamales El Tamalero everywhere, we had to try. Very authentic, moist and extra hot! Their champurrado is a must! Thank you for hooking us up ;)

Sergio is great. Always out there with good food and a great attitude. I love getting tamales prepared with the works. I just wish their salsa was spicer. They take cash and Venmo. Plenty of parking. The corn tamales and cheese/jalap are my favorites.

Come check out Tamales El Tamalero!My boy Sergio was selling Tamales in the parking lot at Walmart over on Story Road for years and decided to open a Tamale spot at a new location at 2920 Alum Rock Ave. in front of Sabor Restaurant! They crank out hundreds of Spicy Pork, Mild Pork, Verde Chicken, Jalapeño Cheese, and Sweet Corn tamale options daily and do specials with whatever Sergio is in the mood for.Each tamale is $3. The spicy pork tamale is so big and loaded with so much filling. The masa was perfectly soft, tender, and seasoned perfectly. The spicy shredded pork filling was packed with mouth-watering Mexican spices and was melt-in-your-mouth amazing.When you get a chance, go check them out! They are open 7 days a week between 6:30 am to 3:00 pm or until sold out!

Came by today to pick up a dozen for the week, today's social media special offered free champurrado and 1 additional tamale I have always been interested in the dessert tamale I got my chance to taste a delicious strawberry/pineapple tamale which I enjoyed very much with the champurrado I really enjoyed the drink since it wasn't so thick sometimes champurrado can be very thick hard to drink this champurrado however was perfect! Perfect ratio of canela. The dessert tamale was mostly strawberry which I was ok with there was not really any pineapple but still very good! I will be ordering a few with my next dozen.

I just recently discovered Tamales el Tamalero, thanks to ESSJ Times. They are delicious & authentic. I've have chicken, pork and the chile with cheese. The salsa they top it with is delicious, too spicy for me, but I am not huge on spice. I would DoorDash every Monday after chemotherapy, they were great every time, very consistent. And then my husband and I finally went to the physical location, the customer service was amazing, they are very clean and organized. 10/10 recommend tamales el tamalero.

BEST TAMALES!!these tamales are consistent! Every bite has filling! And they are huge!! The chicken are stuffed with lots of meat and the cheese and jalapeño were delicious with lots of cheese(my fav) My family got full off of 2 vs other places that I need to order 3/4 to feel full. You honestly can't beat the price best in town overall ranks 5/5 in every category.
