Sushi Sheng is a great restaurant. I thought that their service was very nice and attentive. On their menu there were countless options therefore providing me with a variety of choices. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere where the booths provided adequate privacy and coziness. A couple things that could be improved are the LED lights and the seat cushions. The LED lights were not equipped with enough diffusion, therefore taking away from the calmness of the atmosphere. Some seat cushions were positioned in awkward places, which made sitting slightly uncomfortable, but still bearable.

The sushi is amazing. We ordered the omakase, and the quality and portion of fish was perfection. We were over the moon to see uni (sea urchin) included. However, the dinner was soured because the waiter forgot our appetizer and multiple requests for water refills. Most likely, we'll be back to try and receive better attentiveness

Really like their sashimi combos.A basic restaurant with tables and booths. Service is excellent. Fish quality is great. Otoro is pretty top notch.Stopped by on a Tuesday and the place got packed quick.** Quick edit: while the food's good, the table seating is spaced too close, and the air circulation kinda sucks (non existent). I think i got a cold from diners in the adjacent table :(

On a Saturday night there were a few couples and a few families with young children. Small and busy, but putting yourself on the Yelp list helps shorten the wait time. Most people were getting rolls. They were good, and I would go back to check out the nigiri.

What's open for New Years Day? This Chinese run Japanese restaurant. They ask for 5 star Yelp reviews in exchange for ice cream which is not allowed per business owners and servers per Yelp rules.We need to be able to tell the truth.Four seasons roll (unagi, real crab, tuna salmon, sauce avocado), negi toro, and the giants roll (tempura and salmon) . Add real crab for the extra $3 totally worth it.The negi toro was the highlight. Fresh and tasty.Giants roll was just okay, tasted rather plain, and the shrimp tempura was on the cold side. The four seasons was way. better So let's talk about the failures. No one likes plastic in their food, and we had it in our roll and it was gross. Worse yet it happened twice. I get they use it to wrap and cut their rolls but for realz, this was annoying and dangerous to eat plastic.Also, beware the rolls that say "snow crab" didn't have real crab. The sunomono salad was lackluster. Hard to find street parking.

We had a decent experience at this cozy spot in the heart of West Portal. The standout for us was definitely the Salmon Avocado Rolls--an absolute delight. The salmon was incredibly fresh, with thick, juicy slices that practically melted in your mouth. The pairing with avocado was a perfect balance, making each bite a savory treat. The Salmon Sashimi was equally impressive, served in well-cut portions that were tender, showcasing the quality of the fish.We did have a minor issue with the California Rolls, though. They were loaded with a bit too much mayo for our liking, which overshadowed the more delicate flavors of the crab and avocado inside. It was a bit heavier than expected, and we found ourselves scraping off some of the mayo to get a better sense of the roll's other ingredients, although it still couldn't be saved, unfortunately.It felt awfully rushed. Our server seemed eager to take our order quickly, which created an uncomfortable sense of urgency to decide quickly. He also left in the middle of our order to take care of other things. That part of it was meh.
