Wish I could give more than 5 stars. The staff really went above and beyond for my mom's birthday. They were so kind and gave her a tempura ice cream after singing happy birthday to her. They accommodated changes with ease and gave stellar menu suggestions. The Saba shioyaki dinner combo was very worth it. The sashimi is very fresh and comes in generous cuts. The Lion king roll and tempura and OMG roll are great too. Very central location in a fun area to walk around. I will def be coming back with friends and family!

Love this place. We discovered this place because our usual spot closed as the owners retired. We're from the San Mateo area but often in this area too. We've been here twice now. There was no wait when we arrived and staff greeted us right away and very friendly. Restaurant was clean and the ambience was cozy. They have booths along one side of the restaurant which was very comfortable. The food was terrific. We had the spicy tuna which was fresh, tasty and had the right amount of spice. 1st time we came here, we had the bentos and everything tasted great. The salmon, tempura and chicken katsu were cooked perfectly and the jalapeño bomb was the bomb! 2nd time we had the spicy tuna rolls again, the jalapeño bomb again, tempura alacarte, and chicken katsu plate. Consistent flavors and cook - so we were very pleased! Wait staff were attentive but not overbearing. They were friendly and efficient. Definitely coming back and you should too!

Intimate and cozy sushi restaurant with an amazing dinner deal of two rolls (the options include both basic and special rolls) with a side of soup and salad all for ~$27! In my opinion, this was such a steal, especially for sushi in the Bay Area.My friend got the Salmon Lover & Spicy Tuna Rolls and I got the Rainbow & Salmon Avocado Rolls for our combos. The service was great as the sushi came out quickly and was super yummy!

Came here for a team lunch and was seated immediately. Actually pretty nice because it was 7 of us and we were on a time crunch plus it is conveniently located in downtown Mountain View. There's plenty of street parking and parking structures around too. They have lunch specials so make sure to check that out. I opted for the lunch bento box with salmon and teriyaki chicken with a side of salad, rice, and a roll. This is definitely a great deal for what you get but the quality was just okay. The teriyaki chicken was doused in teriyaki sauce (maybe try asking for sauce on side). The salmon was a bit overcooked for my liking, on the drier end and had a stronger fishy taste. We had appetizers for the group and I found those items more enjoyable than my lunch entree.

We really enjoyed all of the different rolls and appetizers that they offer. Our favorites had to be the OMG roll and the monkey brain appetizer. The rolls are very saucy and at a very reasonable price. Your order off of the QR code menu and it comes pretty quick. Definitely recommend coming to give this place a try!

I've been here to Sushi Arashi a few times, but I mostly go to their other location in Willow Glen.Decent sized restaurant. Available table seating indoors and outdoors. Not sure if they have sushi bar seating. I quickly looked as I picked up my takeout order.Salmon Avocado Roll (8 Pieces): Salmon with avocado (4/5). Creamy avocado and the salmon seemed fresh. A simple good roll.Shrimp Tempura Roll: Shrimp tempura with crab, cucumber, avocado, tobiko (3.5/5). Crunchy, freshly fried. Though, I did not see any tobiko, as this mentioned. :(

Makes me sad to say but avoid nigiri/sashimi here. Get rolls or the lunch specials because I think those will give you a better experience.I got nigiri combo. The fish was not good to taste alone and I hate wasting food but I couldn't finish it. There was something they served that was a pale orange that had the slimiest texture I've ever had eating nigiri. It was watery and paired with garlic. I think if I didn't eat that one I would have been able to finish the rest, (which were also mid but not insufferable) felt sick after that one.I got agedashi tofu as well, and it was soggy and the dashi provided was also too watered down. They give complementary "crème brûlée" which was also soupy and undercooked. Not sure what they think giving that to customers will do, but it tasted like egg tart.Service was not bad, didn't wait long. Prices were also affordable. If I ordered the lunch special or a roll I probably would have given 3 stars, but that watery nigiri was bad.

LUNCH TONKATSUAbout a month ago I ate here on Sunday for lunch. I had relatives from Stockton. We went to Mountain View. I asked them if they were craving for ramen. Sushi Arashi was the closest eatery to accommodate our party of 10 people. I ordered two items: chicken kaarage and tonkatsu. The tonkatsu entree came with salad and miso soup. The chicken kaarage was a delightful appetizer as the breading was light and meat was moist. The miso soup and salad helped balance the palette. I waited in anticipation for the tonkatsu, which ended up as a disappointment. The breading was crispy, but the meat was dry. One of my pet peeves is if the meat is dry when it is deep fried. Anytime an appetizer is better than an entree I can never give an eatery a 4-star. The overly dry tonkatsu is why I gave Sushi Arashi the rating I did.

Very good attentive service, pleasant outdoor seating that allows for pets to accompany you.Food prices are about on-par for downtown Mountain View. As far as the food itself, it was pretty good, but not great. The salad dressing wasn't really authentic, more mayonnaisey than authentic Japanese dressings. The sushi rolls were fairly small, fish quality/quantity OK. The chicken katsu (meat portion) was really pressed down to maybe 1/8" or so and then breaded, so the proportion of batter to meat was more 50/50 which isn't ideal. And it was marginally overdone. These are indications, just my opinion, more along the lines of cost cutting, which isn't what I love to see. I'd rather see restaurants focus on serving the best quality of food. So, for example, rightsize the chicken cutlet thickness so the batter to meat proportions are correct. The result may not be as many individual pieces, but each piece will be better. And honestly, chicken is a pretty cheap meat, so I'm not sure that skimping on the meat and leaving a subpar impression is worth what you saved in meat cost.Similar on the other food aspects: Go for better quality salmon, make the rolls 20% bigger, use a more authentic dressing. All of these little things add up and make the difference between a run-of-the-mill Japanese restaurant that you're fine going to but you wouldn't suggest on your own, and a Japanese restaurant that's in your Top 5 in the area and that you propose as a meeting place for your friends.Really, if half stars were allowed, my rating would be 3.5 stars. But the staff was very polite and nice, so they get the benefit of the half star round-up vs round-down.I think the components are there to create a better experience than what's currently being put out there.
