Starbelly is in the heart of SF, in the Castro. I've been a few times and I will say, they have a killer happy hour menu. As for their dinner menu, I wasn't particularly impressed honestly. We just came for drinks & appetizers but I took a look at the dinner menu & wasn't impressed. The service was sweet, we just sat at a high top table so nothing too special. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

This is specifically a dinner review--I have had the brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it!The outdoor seating is great during the day, but less so at night. Although there are some string lights, the corner where we were seated was very dark (we had to use our phones to light the menu). The server was kind, and we ordered small plates and a pizza to share. We loved the fries, but were not as big of fans of the pizza and soup. Happy to have tried it, but we will stick to brunches in the future.

Still underwhelming. Though it's nice that it was easy to get seating during prime brunch hours.I got the Italian eggs, which were fine, but nothing to write home about. The morning glory overnight oats were a pretty small portion, and I didn't love the texture (and found it a tad sweet).

I think starbelly is just okay and a bit overhyped. There's a big long table where everyone is crowding around and it seems that they do a lot of events / catering but it didn't make the restaurant feel home-y / welcome. I also thought all of the food that was provided was just okay, we got the pate, the broccoli, the burger, and the steak frites. I think they do the steak frites pretty poorly and was expecting a bit more of an upscale fare from it. The plating is more diner style, which is underwhelming

Alice Waters came back from Paris in 1973, and opened Chez Panisse. N'est-ce pas?Well Starbelly is no Chez Panisse, but it has that i'm that Berkeley, joie de vivre a la Alice Waters feel, that it makes it the poor man's Chez Panisse in the Upper Market/ Castro. ...The Butternut Squash Soup has just enough spice that makes everything right, on a cold winters night. Major....The Fresh Spaghetti with Bacon and Jalapeño for some reason I got w/out the Bacon. I see now it's a key component of the dish, and is the missing flavor profile, I remember from the last time I got it.

I came here for a work dinner on a Thursday evening a couple weeks ago. We had a reservation and got seated on one of the longer tables towards the back of the restaurant. Our table was close to the door leading to the outdoor dining area, so it was a little chilly as people came in and out that door often throughout the evening. For starters, we ordered the deviled eggs and fries. The deviled eggs had a prominent tangy and tart flavor, which I didn't mind. I liked them. The fries were good. I liked that they came with three different sauces.Next, we ordered the chicories salad, grilled broccolini, and crispy brussel sprouts. The chicories salad was not my favorite. The combination of everything in the salad was interesting, just not my favorite dish of the night. However, the broccolini and brussel sprouts were delicious. They were perfectly seasoned, and the texture was also great. For pizzas, we ordered the starbelly bacon, delicata squash, and margherita. I really liked the delicata squash. I don't think I've ever had squash on pizza before, but I really enjoyed it. Lastly, we ordered the warm toffee cake, salted caramel pot de crème, and arborio rice pudding for dessert. They were all good, but my favorite would have to be either the warm toffee cake or arborio rice pudding. The arborio rice pudding probably looked the least appetizing out of three, but it was so good. I would recommend trying this. None of the desserts were overly sweet, which I appreciated. Overall, I had a great time here. The food was good, and the service was also good.

Had a great time at Starbelly for brunch! I got the chicken and waffles and my friends got the chilaquiles. Everything was so good! Great location in the Castro and so many other shops and stores to walk to nearby. They seemed like they may have been understaffed when we visited as service was pretty slow but we were well fed so that didn't affect us!

Came here for dinner on a Monday and it was okay, nothing that stood out in particular. We were a party of 5 seated outside, but the propane heaters weren't turned on so it a was a bit cold outside even though it's slightly enclosed. We arrived around 5:30pm so there was still 30 minutes left of HH but we weren't given a HH menu, I had to pull it up online. Their HH menu is okay, wouldn't say it's worth coming for any of the items in particular. We had some appetizers and the spinach was prob the best out of the 3 options. The Brussel sprouts were okay but more on the sweet & tart side versus savory and nothing special about the broccolini. I had a burger cooked medium and it was good but would have preferred a better bun because this was more on the airy side. The ketchup for the fries were pretty solid though.

My friends and I were able to walk in on a Saturday at 11am, and we were seated immediately. We really liked the back patio, which had heating lamps above to help us stay warm! The service and the food were pretty quick, so we were in and out in around an hour. I got the chilaquiles, and it was a much larger portion than I was expecting! I liked that it came with half an avocado, and the side salad helped break up the meal too. I wish the chilaquiles were a little spicier, but the server also brought us a couple hot sauces.Overall, we had a nice experience with decent brunch food!

The best dish tonight was their seasonal corn pizza! Highly recommend and a must try!! The main reason why we decided to try this venue. Felt everything else we ordered was average nothing spectacular . Food was delicious , good service and venue and ambiance was casual and comfortable..
