Dinner was SOOOO good and service was awesome. Thank you, Kelsey, for being so attentive to our group, and thank you for being very knowledgeable; we asked so many questions and she had all the answers. At one point, my group was talking about how great it would be to have another order of bread so we can use it as a vehicle to soak up all the pasta sauces; Kelsey kindly brought us another batch on the house. I will have to say, the portions are not huge, but they are not small either. I could've used one more item but it's all good. Didn't leave feeling so full I could not walk and got to taste a few different things so I am happy. Food was really really good and you can tell the ingredients are of high quality and fresh. We did not have cocktails so I can't comment on that, but we did bring our own bottle of champagne. When I called prior to our visit, I was told the corkage was $30, however we were charged a whopping $45; that is the most I have ever paid. Didn't want to make a stink about it bc dinner was just so good, it superseded the extra we paid for our champs. Would definitely go back. Great for family, girls night and date night.

We had a great experience on New Year's! It was a five-course dinner (I think), and the lobster lasagna was hands-down everyone's favorite. The cheesecake with bourbon caramel sauce was the perfect way to wrap up the night. That said, there were a couple of quirks. The servers brought out each course but didn't tell us what we were eating, and since none of us read the fixed menu ahead of time, we were just along for the ride! Also, our waters were almost always empty, which was a bit frustrating. When we were leaving all of our waters were empty, and they probably were for the past 30 minutes. The 20% auto tip and 6% SF health living wage charge felt pretty steep, but putting that aside, the food was fantastic, and it made for a really fun New Year's.

It's hard for me to write this review cos I loved the sister restaurant Acquerello so much. Sorella was unfortunately a huge let down :( I really hope it's an off night for them.Food: pasta was definitely overcooked and not al dente. While the sauce was good, it's disappointing to eat overcooked pasta. Our table got 4 different pasta to try.- Foccacia: worst I've ever had.- Parmesan budino: probably top dish of the night. Crispy garlic and vinegrette were good.- Chestnut & pumpkin tortelli: sauce was good but pasta was overcooked - Gnocchi: soft, pillowy. Good duck bolognese- Mafadine: tasted strange, not very appetizing. Beef was good though - Timbalo: not very memorable - Salmon w lentil ragu: forgettableDesserts were very disappointing. Dense olive oil cake. Tiramisu was traditional and needed more coffee flavor. The ratio of genoise vs mascapone cheese wasn't right.Service was average. Our waitress didn't even remember what was on the dish. Serving spoons were left one one end and the dishes were on the other...We left unsatisfied but all agreed we wouldn't want to go back. Sad :(

Came here for a weekday dinner. Gabriel was incredibly patient and understanding. the vibe here is nice and clean. Tables are a little too close together -- so don't expect much intimacy unless you get a booth for 2 people or a trouble. Food was incredibly curated for flavor and texture. I loved every bites. gnocchi and seafood pasta were incredible. We will definitely be back. Then, the highlight; the stuffed calamari. WOW - to make stuffed calamari takes a lot of effort and skill. The filling was fantastic and they were cooked to perfection. Loved it all. Thank you Gabriel and team for a wonderful night.

I been waiting to try this place for a long time. Now that I have tried it, I know it is not for me. The experience was good, sophisticated, smart, elegant, petite, expensive, etc. If I had to describe the food in one word it would be "chic". Definitely come here if you want to take pictures of pretty plated dishes. I think too much attention was put on the way they looked instead of the way they tasted. I felt like the dishes were made in a culinary laboratory prepared by Optimus robots. It was good, but it doesn't have a soul. I just didn't feel very satisfied or satiated. If the bar area was bigger it would be a great bar hopping place.

Came here for their $1 oyster happy hour! It's 5-7pm Tuesday through Thursday at the bar, limited to 6 per person. I really enjoyed the oysters, it's probably the best deal in the city. Also had a chance to try their pastas - while good, I wasn't blown away

Pricier than other similar Italian restaurants in SF but certainly the best pasta for when you're looking for something special and a little nicer. All of the pastas are excellent, the portion sizes are reasonable, and splitting an app, two pastas, and a dessert along with some bread between two people is plenty filling. I really enjoyed the focaccia and the carne cruda, the pasta menu changes seasonally but always features local, seasonal ingredients. The interior is nice, not too quiet but not loud enough that you have to yell.

First time here and I loved it! While we did have to wait a little before our table was ready, we enjoyed sipping on cocktails at the bar. Once we got to our table, we had great service and enjoyed everything we ordered! -The patio and leak focaccia was a great start to our meal. -The Parmesan Bundino was so different from other appetizers, and we loved it.-They nailed the classic meatballs. -The housemade pasta was so good and we wish we could have tried more. Sorella was a great experience and I'll keep it in mind when I'm back in the area.

This was a disappointing dinner experience even if you exclude their pricing from the discussion. When you factor prices in, the experience left a very sour taste in my mouth. The biggest sin is that the pasta -- which is made in-house -- was over cooked. To overcook pasta at a restaurant specializing in handmade pasta is to completely miss the point. The gnocchi was the standout dish which was light and flavorful. The chestnut pumpkin filled pasta was also good. All of the other pastas including the mafaldine, timballo, and one other were not memorable. The best dish was the Parmesan budino, and if you just order that and a few oysters you'll probably have a nice experience. But for me to say that you should really skip the pasta at a pasta restaurant is sad. Won't even go into detail on the desserts, but they were some of the worst tiramisu and olive oil cake I've tried. The cake was too dense, and the tiramisu tried to be creative and contemporary but nobody liked it. It shouldn't even be called tiramisu. Similar to their take on a Negroni where they use tequila instead of more traditional ingredients, it just makes no sense and doesn't taste good. IMO, this restaurant is surviving off their reputation of being associated with Acquarello, being a pioneer of Cal-Italian food, and a beautiful setting. But what I care about is food, and this was a huge miss.

Really delicious food. We really enjoyed how tender the beef short rib is in the mafaldine and that hanger steak was sooo beautifully medium rare.
