If I had just a little less self control, this food would have been Gone in 60 Seconds! Ordered some vegetarian mains from here a couple times now and this restaurant won me over pretty quickly. Sarso de Saag w/ Makki was delectable and has easily become a favorite from here. Aloo Gobi Mutter is one of my go-to comfort dishes and both were made fresh with care and quality. Lots of flavor but stays well balanced, great level of heat and not too oily.Will definitely be returning to this little gem in Hayward.

Came here on a Friday night and it wasn't busy. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 mains, the tandoori chicken, and 2 breads. Our server was really nice and helpful with suggesting options on the menu! The appetizers were good! The samosas were filling and the pani puri was delicious. The garlic naan was tasty but the portions were a bit smaller than I was used to and I would've liked 6 pieces of naan instead of 4. The paneer parantha was personally not my favorite as I couldn't really taste the cottage cheese and the spices and it just tasted like a tortilla. We got butter chicken and goat curry as the mains and the butter chicken was a bit on the spicier side but was loaded with chicken strips and the tomato sauce was thick and creamy. The goat curry melted in your mouth and was delicious as well! The tandoori chicken wasn't my favorite as it tasted pretty dry and I used the chutney sauce in order to give it more taste. Overall, the butter chicken was my favorite dish and I would come back to try other items on the menu!

Review for 1/17/25: We recently ordered takeout from Shahi Darbar and it was a fantastic experience! The highlight of our meal was definitely the baingan bharta. It was rich with just the right amount of kick to keep things exciting. It's easily one of the best Indian dishes I can eat and not get tired of.The aloo jeera masala was also a standout, with perfectly cooked potatoes infused with aromatic spices and a wonderful cumin flavor. We couldn't get enough of it! And the fish pakora - light, airy, and fried to perfection. It wasn't greasy at all and had a beautiful texture that complemented the meal.Since we opted for takeout, we can't comment on the dine-in service, but the food speaks volumes about the quality and care they put into their dishes. Shahi Darbar is worth a visit! We're coming back to try their other dishes.

This is a decent Indian food place overall. They had special food items advertised at the table but it ended in December & they no longer had the food items. They were on every table, but they still didn't take them off the tables. I had several entrees as seen in the photos. The food was pretty good, the chicken was a bit salty for some reason, but not terrible. The service was ok, the waiter wasn't friendly/but wasn't unfriendly...they were just there to do the job and I get it. I'd come back & try other items on the menu for sure. If you enjoy the heat of spice, this might be a place for you to check out.

Quality/Quantity - Garlic Naan - I just love garlic naan; I can eat this all day. And to dip it in the two sauces!! The green sauce had a slight kick. The brown sauce tasted like it had honey in it...? They were both so good.Tandoori Chicken - Half order, my daughter did not want leftovers. As we are leaving back to Reno, NV on Sunday. Good flavors.Fish Masala - Generous size fish. Perfectly cooked. Good texture, not too soft.Jeera Rice - This was not cooked perfectly. Had a few lumpy clumps of rice. We are used to this being fluffy.Mango Lassi - My daughter enjoyed it. But she said it had a "tart" aftertaste. Pretty small portions too.Specials are also available; see my pictures or website.Atmosphere - Huge spacious restaurant. I bet they have many weddings here...?Plenty of mall parking, especially since the supermarket closed. Service - Good, welcoming and friendly.I inquired how much it would cost to buy extra sauces, and he gave me one of each for free; thanks.He asked me to do a Google review, but I told him that I am loyal to Yelp, lol.Price - $51 which includes the 3% credit card charge + tip. Expensive for what we got.I think my daughter ordered off the dinner menu...? It would have been inexpensive if we ordered from the "meal" section of the menu. Ordered Vada Pav and Fried rice. Received Tikki Pav instead of vada Pav. It was soft and shallow fried. Fried rice description was rice made with assortment of stir fried vegetables . All I got was rice with some minced onions, carrots and garnished with green onions. Picture explains it well. Rice had solid chunks of salt which was not mixed well. Couldn't eat at all.

The food is delicious although it is salty. The fish & lamb curry dishes are very good. Excellent service. Nice ambiance except the restrooms were not clean. There is no toilet seat covers.
