Such a cozy little place. It was very packed when we arrived on a Friday night. The waitress was very quick to clean the tables as soon as patrons left and we were seated in a very reasonable time.As you can see from the pictures, my husband and I ordered quite a bit. The food came out shockingly fast and in such big portions. The quality was great! Everything tasted good. I highly recommend the chicken teriyaki; it was the highlight of our dinner. My only complaint was the tuna sashimi was quite fishy, but that will not deter me from coming back. Really love this place and will definitely come here again!

I'm a little late in posting my review. A couple of weekends ago, we were driving back from San Jose and wanted to find a restaurant for dinner. We found this restaurant through Yelp and decided to try it.Upon entering, I loved the quaint atmosphere and decor. They had just opened for dinner, so there was no problem with seating. My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki with a chicken breast, and I ordered the tofu sukiyaki. The salad dressing was nice because it wasn't the usual mayo-based dressing. I would have preferred a little less as the lettuce was drowning at the bottom. The miso soup was super hot when it arrived, but once it cooled off, it was one of the better ones we've had.My husband was happy with his chicken teriyaki as he's pretty particular about the quality of the chicken breast. I liked that the sukiyaki had a sweet and salty soup, which meant my mouth didn't feel like a salt lick when I was done eating.Overall, we were very pleased and look forward to going back. I am Japanese-American and I appreciate going to a Japanese-run restaurant vs those run by other Asian nationalities.

Perfect little sushi spot. The fried tofu and tempura were both amazing. I love soft tofu and this appetizer was delicious, I would definitely get it again. As for the sushi, I had the California Roll Inside Out (unpictured, I ate too fast), which was realllyyy good. I'm not the most fond of seafood so I really only eat California Rolls (hehe) but this one was delicious. Service was great and I would definitely come here again!

Came here on a Friday night with the boo. This understated Japanese restaurant has a "mom and pop" feel with quality food for decent prices. Service is excellent and the food came out quickly. The sashimi and chicken katsu combo comes with salad, miso soup, and rice. You're given a choice of fish for the sashimi, which was very fresh (I had tuna). We also got a fireball roll, which was deep fried heaven. All in all a fantastic and filling dinner. We will definitely be back to try other goodies on their menu!

My partner's family has been coming to Sato's for at least a decade or two. It's their Japanese restaurant of choice in the area. They've gotten to know the owners over time and are given special chopsticks that they save just for them. We went here on NYE and it was packed. They came to take our order right away. The tempura appetizer was one of the best I've ever had with just the right amount of batter and a variety of vegetables. I loved the usagi ringo (apple bunny) they included as well. The spider roll and fireball rolls were executed very well with a nice crunchiness to them. We had several nigiri plates which tasted very fresh. Our server was very friendly and was nice enough to take a few pictures of us after our meal. Looking forward to coming back soon!

my 86-year-old dad and 80-year-old Mom has been frequenting this restaurant for over 20 years. Their quality of food and service has gone down drastically. My parents got there for late lunch around 130p and they were served recycled. pre-eaten rice with remnants of sauce and part of rice that been scooped up by another spoon. It was clearly rice that was previously served and partially eaten by a previous customer. when my parents let the service staff know about this, they took the rice back put a little bit extra rice on top of the original rice bowl, and served it back to them. my parents felt mistreated and disgusted they had to just leave right away. They weren't even apologetic. Needles to say walked out and vowed they will never go back to Sato ever again. Please explain yourselves!!!!

I hate having to do this but this was probably the worst sushi I've ever had. My wife and I had a rainbow roll. Small and all you can taste is mayonnaise that was a majority of the roll. My wife took one bite and couldn't stomach any more. Had a couple of other rolls that were very small. Four rolls and one beer and the bill was $78. I've eaten a lot of sushi in my days so I expect it to be expensive but I also know what good sushi is and this was not it.It took 30 minutes from the first two rolls before we got our second two. Service was so slow, had to track down our bill because we never saw our server after we got our meal. We were still hungry so we went downtown to get something to eat.

Located in the same plaza as Bill's Cafe and Peets coffee; next to the huge sports park. Plenty of free parking. Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We got here around 11:45 am and it was already 90% packed. We got the second to last available table. The restaurant itself is on the smaller size and have about 8-9 tables. Staff is very friendly and I believe they are Japanese. The whole ambiance and environment reminds of being in Japan. Prices are very reasonable. My husband and i wanted to order the nigiri set but we were told that it will take about 30 mins to prepare. We didn't have time to wait so we ordered the bento box C and and an order of spicy scallop roll. The bento boxes came with chicken teriyaki, shrimp and veggie tempura, three piece white tuna sashimi, half an order of red crab roll and a potato croquette. Of course don't forget the rice and miso soup! Portions were a good size and everything tasted delicious! The sashimi was fresh and melted in my mouth and the sushi rolls were bite size and delicate, like how authentic sushi should be. I was so impressed! My husband usually just says food is "ok" but he actually said the food was good so that means a lot! We ordered two bento boxes, a glass of plum wine and the spicy scallop roll and the total came out to be about $50 which is super reasonable. Will definitely come back to try the nigiri and sashimi!
