Key Points:- Delicious Thai food. Some of the best I've had, and I've had a lot of Thai food in my life. - 20% gratuity for tables or 5+ What a hidden gem tucked away in Fremont! Despite living here for years, I had never seen or heard of it before, so it must be relatively new.The Fam and extended Fam, mainly my folks came here one night for dinner. I'd heard great things about the place, and overall, the food did not disappoint. Here's what we ordered:- Garlic Prawns: These were the highlight of the meal. The prawns were extremely flavorful, and well seasoned (looking for a word that means a lot of spice but not exactly "spicy" though th y were that too, in a good way). Definitely a dish I'd come back for.- Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles): While the flavors were decent, the dish was on the wetter side, a style we'd refer to as, "sup chow" in Cantonese, rather than the drier "gong chow" preparation I'm used to. It also lacked the smoky "wok hay" that really makes this dish shine. Not my favorite rendition but luckily the other dishes made up for it. - Crab Fried Rice: This was spot-on. The basil and seasoning were well-balanced, and there was a generous portion of crab meat. A satisfying dish overall.- Crispy Pompano: Now this was definitely unique looking! The fish was fried perfectly and served with its axial skeleton used as a centerpiece after deboning. I'd never seen this before, and it added a creative touch to the experience. Now, the service: Not bad overall, but they automatically add a 20% gratuity for groups of five, which felt excessive, especially since one of us was a toddler. I'd consider that 4.5 people. When we asked about it, they said they'd only waive the gratuity if one person completely didn't eat. No exceptions. That policy felt odd and inflexible, but otherwise, the staff seemed friendly and accommodating.Overall, R Haan Thai had some truly memorable dishes. Since I weigh the food quality most heavily, I'm not docking any stars for the gratuity policy, etc. Definitely worth a re-visit.

I was craving pad thai. We were looking around the area for lunch options and we decided to give R-Haan Thai a shot. In short, very pretty dishes though flavors felt a bit mellow and lacking a punch but would come back to try more.L O C A T I O NR-Haan Thai is located in the plaza with 99 Ranch Markey off the Mission Blvd 680 to 880 interchange. It's on the right side of it. Parking is a challenge especially during lunch time though they do have a dedicated parking lot shared by the establishments in the area. So you may need to park a little further and walk.I N S I D E There's a fair amount of tables for small and larger groups. I believe you can reserve tables in advance. When we went there was always a table available. No one had to wait while we were eating. This was on a Saturday around 1pm.M E N UThe menu basically had your typical Thai fair which are curries, noodles, soups, etc. We were almost swayed to get the Pad See Ew but we stuck to the pad thai. Each dish can have your choice of protein or non meat option like tofu or vegetables.~ Penang Curry with pork ~I should've read the description. I didn't realize it only came with bell peppers. Both my hubby and I are bell pepper intolerant so we had to avoid them. The pork was fine a little dry but the curry helped. The curry itself felt watered down. Like it was missing the oomph or perhaps thickness that I'm used to with penang curry. We got it mild which was perfect. Spicy but enjoyable.~ Pad Thai with chicken ~I was taking a look at photos and that's why I was almost deterred to get this. The noodles looked thinner than I'm used to. But we got it anyways. The dish was fine. The noodles I wish were thicker.~ Crispy Pampano ~Very pretty dish. Came out in a deep fried pampano. I focused eating the actual fish versus the filet. Though I did have one of the filets and I wish the skin was fried first, then battered or even just remove the skin altogether. My hubby didn't like the skin on as it gave the fish a more fishy taste. I know we're eating fish so it should taste like fish :P So in case you don't like fishy tasting fish. You may want to stay away. I had fun taking apart the fish itself eating the best parts like the cheek and belly and the crispy bits left.S E R V I C EVery attentive and nice! Our waters were always refilled. We easily paid by card and were given boxes to go for the items we brought back. Also they were very good about catering to food allergies. A table next to us had someone with a garlic allergy and gave options on dishes they were ordering so that they whole table could enjoy.O V E R A L LGreat service with a lot of dishes that can satisfy different palates. All ours were fine. Some could've been better. But overall, okay. Would we come back? Perhaps, but no strong pull. It's at least another option in the area for Thai if we're craving it. Try them out!

I came here with Wendy H. on a weeknight. We made reservations but it wasn't necessary. We shared three dishes and agreed that one was delicious and the other two were just okay. The pad kee mao (drunken noodle) was really good! It had a subtle smokiness that was surprising yet enjoyable. The Tom Som papaya salad didn't have that fresh crunch I was looking for. The smoked duck curry sounds exciting, but was a bit of a let down. I can't really describe the flavor but it didn't complement the duck.Service was good. We were having a grand old time catching up that we didn't realize we were there until closing, oops! Our server kindly thanked us at the end as a gentle nudge to get us out of there haha.Would definitely order the drunken noodles again if I do ever go back to try other dishes.

Do you know Papaya Thai in Newark, CA? This is an exact twin of that location in flavor, dishes, meat textures, and vegetable pairings. I am starting to believe this type of Thai is the definition of Thai in the Bay Area because I cannot seem to obtain the flavors of this type of Thai any where else in the world. FOOD:- I always order basil beef or basil pork because of my allergies to coconuts so I could never intentionally try the curries (yes I know there may be cross contamination but I love Thai flavors a bit too much)- the beef did not taste like beef but instead pork; it's nice, tender and not gamey at all plus it's $2 more than pork and chicken - I love bamboo and I appreciate the choice - I ordered mild with red pepper flakes on the side per the recommendation of the server (I love spicy but I do not like spicy to the point it destroys your taste buds)...this dish was not spicy at all, instead it was crazy sweet BUT the red pepper flakes added a lovely much needed spice to the picture - a side of jasmine rice is THREE DOLLARS!! (Brown rice is FOUR dollars)...this is just insanity- lunch specials run in the range of $18 and I am very compelled to try it. The menu explicitly states a drink is offered (soda cans, Thai tea, etc) but does not explicitly state the offering of rice (I am crossing my fingers and believing it does)- crazy how light the to go box was; only 1/4 of the box is filled - fork came without an exterior plastic wrapping so who knows where the fork has beenSERVICE:- server immediately asks if i will like a menu- does not ask what type of utensils i want- I ordered to go and I stood outside waiting...super nice of a different server handing the dish to me at the door - when asked, stated it will be a 10 minute wait, but it was less than 10 minutesAMBIENCE:- I sort of kind of laugh because the restaurant was pretty much filled with Indians - dimly, romantically lit- dark- Thai decor- strings of lights - no strange smellsLOCATION / PARKING: - located in a plaza filled with multiple stores and options including 99 ranch and its food court- plentiful parking but you do have to frequently wait due to the amount of customers- parking smalls are SUPER small and SUPER tight- plaza has neighboring plazas and neighborhoods so you will unlikely get a parking headache as you do downtown or in the city- free and intermittently monitored by securityWill I come back? Definitely because I am too curious not to try their lunch.

Food 3.5/5 mostly because of the pad see ew and mango coconut dessert. The samosa is crispy and packed with flavor without even need to dip into the sweet sour sauce. Their pad see eew was a let down for me. It's little bland and lacks the sizzling smell you get from a good stir fry plate. It could also use a little more dark soya sauce to increase the sweetness level. That said my family enjoyed their pad thai noodles. I didn't try the Bangkok duck but apparently it was good. And we rounded up dinner with their mango coconut dessert which the coconut tasted a little stale. Service 5/5 - expedient and quick Ambiance - 5/5 nice warm environment with Thai influenced decor

Went here for dinner with friends on a Friday night and were seated promptly. We ordered the chicken pad kee mao, tofu khao soi and tofu red curry and a side of rice. Food arrived promptly and tasted good. The khao soi was the favorite at the table. Service was great with regular water refills. They also got us extra spicy sauce when we requested for it. Being too full to get any dessert, we had to skip it. Overall, a good place for a casual meal or takeout.

Ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Red curry and this time even dessert. The pad Thai wasn't to my taste, but red curry was great. The dessert was best. Service was efficient and the ambiance very authentic either beautiful painted mural on the wall which added to the atmosphere.

I've ordered Pad Thai here for lunch a couple times and it's pretty good. The Pad Thai was so flavorful. I ordered the lunch combo with a Thai tea for under 20 dollars. I knocked a star off because the tea was waaay too sweet to me.(I added the crispy chili oil myself. It doesn't come that way)I picked it up to go and there were no service issues, they notified me via text and it was ready on time.

Friends wanted to try this place, a bit out of way but I am game to try new places! Small but service was friendly. A bit noisy at times but okay. We ordered beef salad, crispy roti, smoked duck curry, garlic shrimps, sweet basil chicken, mango sticky coconut rice. Also a slide of jasmine rice and coconut rice on the side. Tasted very average Thai cuisine. The platings were pleasant but not too creative as every dish looked the same with flower. The beef salad was surprisingly not grilled beef. A bit watery. The crispy roti could be a bit more crispy. The smoke duck & curry combination was a bit of throw off for me but my friends enjoyed it. Basil chicken nothing to write home about. The star was the garlic shrimps. Very tasty and the shrimps were more crunchy than the roti so I ate the whole shrimp from head to tail including the shell. The mango coconut rice... I would prefer the mango not cut to strips. I think it was supposed to be a bird? But at first glance I thought they arranged it into a centipede . Overall I would return only if I am invited by people I have not met first a while to entice me to make the trip as other than the shrimps I can get better Thai food closer to home.

R HaanThai is a cute Thai restaurant with great decor and amazing service! Came here on a Tuesday night and most tables were full but we didn't have to wait. We ordered the khao soi with chicken, pad Thai with chicken, and crab fried rice. The khao soi was my favorite bite of the night. Super thick creamy broth with a strong curry flavor. It had all the right toppings with the pickled mustard greens and fried noodles. The noodles are a lot thinner than what's traditionally in this dish but it was still good, just a tad over cooked because it was not Al dente. The crab fried rice is a must order! Nice plump crab meat on top of a well seasoned fried rice. I would skip the pad Thai next time though the noodles were way overcooked. The flavor is also more on the shrimp paste side than the tamarind side and it was a bit too on the sweet end. I would definitely come back to try other items.
