We were lucky to able to make an appointment for 3 of us on the day of. We arrived on time for our Saturday 1pm appointment. It was $10 for tasting 4 wines. 3 cabs and 1 syrah. We liked the 3rd cab on the list. The syrah tasted lighter than other syrahs I've tasted. I'm guessing there can only be at most 2 appointments at once. We were there at 1pm and another group came at 1:30pm. We all got to go on a short tour to the vineyard and the wine cellar basement. One bathroom in the house for guests to use. Driving up to the vineyard was very narrow and scary. There's 4-5 parking spaces. Very intimate and quiet tasting experience. Noelle and Bill were very friendly and welcoming. They only make about 300 wines. About 75 for each wine. Prices of the wines vary from $25-40. Their dog is very friendly. My husband got a nice extra splash for drinking his wine fast haha. Bill didn't want him to have an empty glass during the tour. Thoughtful of him! Definitely check out this vineyard if you like red wines and more intimate setting.

This is a family winery operated by the couple: R&W. They grow half an acre of grapes and buy from other growers. Clearly, this is a labor of passion. We visitors are sponsoring their expensive hobby and this is the best kind.We sampled and bought some of their products. We had a short tour and enjoyed the expansive and breath-taking view. We had a very nice chat and were on our way onward.Note that the wines are really not interesting. They were quite good, but the quantity is so small that you are unlikely to get the same next year. They make only Cabernet Sauvignon, by the way.

Noel and Bill were such gracious hosts and so welcoming despite our running late after getting lost in the pouring rain. The tour & tasting is by appointment only and held at the tasting bar in their beautiful home nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains. The portfolio includes Cabernet Sauvignon from both the estate vineyard as well as Mount Veeder, plus a Syrah. All well finely crafted and the Mount Veeder most definitely held its own against the best I've tried from that appellation, and for a fraction of the cost.I'd highly recommend scheduling a visit here for anyone looking to explore the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA.

"We all need something to help us unwind at the end of the day. You might have a glass of wine, or a joint, or a big delicious blob of heroin to silence your silly brainbox of its witterings but there has to be some form of punctuation, or life just seems utterly relentless."― Russell BrandFrom the witterings of my non-Blue Sky fueled brainbox comes the initial review of R& W Vineyards, otherwise known as Relyea-Wood. The owners Bill and Noel are former scientists now handcrafting wines at their estate above Silicon Valley (but below Ridge) on Montebello rd. They were open one Saturday so after visiting Ridge I stopped in.I am of course a cynical person and seeing a new estate, with beautiful views and requisite winery dog (a really mellow rescue lab named Bear as well as two other dogs), I thought this would be another vanity project built with more Silicon Valley money than winemaking taste. I'd be wrong. The wines were actually very good and maybe their scientific careers paid off. While not terribly impressed with the locally sourced Merlot or Syrah (unbalanced and lacking flavor), the three cabernets were excellent versions of this varietal with unheard of estate pricing of $14.95 for the Estate Cab, $16.95 for the Mt Veeder and $27.95 for the best of the lot from Betchart Vineyard off of Montebello Rd. I love the cabs from Ridge but those wines do not exactly come in at $27.95. The Betchart was balanced, with rich flavor and not overly manipulated or hot. Just a lovely wine that I might wish I bought more than 2 bottles of (I also bought two pof the $14.95 Estate). The views are quite spectacular and not as removed as they are at Ridge. The tasting occurred in three different areas and included a barrel sample. There is an oversized chess set, the dogs running around, a classic car parked...a pool table I think...just a lovely setting for cheese, fruit and vino and the servers/volunteers were all friendly. My cynicism was unwarranted (unlike The Winery That Shall Not Be Named). A new recommended stop especially if you are visiting Ridge and Picchetti!

Beautiful view after a long winding drive. Certainly a place one has to seek out and well worth the effort. Fine wine. Friendly people. Bill showed us around and told us how they harvest and process their grapes to produce their wine. I bought 2 bottles of their estate Cab. Hope to visit again one day.

On horse property so the winery is very quaint. They have a beautiful outdoors area or covered area with heat lamps. The wine tasting was delicious the day after Christmas.

I had meant to go often and finally made it. Bill and Noel accommodated me on a same day reservation just after a large party left. I was very lucky as I was stunned and touched by their sincere genuine hospitality. The views were breathtaking. The place in and out was spotless. The wines were right up my alley. All red with 3 cabs and 1 syrah. Bill gave me a tour and Cosmo the dog followed. I will certainly go back and recommend this hidden
