Pure Karaoke

On the plus side, I can report that their rooms look good and their sound system is fine (once you open the cabinet and tweak the volume & echo settings). I can't say how well their built-in karaoke system work (other reviewers say it's user-unfriendly and limited in song selection) since my group decided to just use YouTube the whole time. But it doesn't much matter, since to me, this place is capped at two stars anyway for being such a dishonest business.How dishonest? Let me count the ways:Exhibit A: There's a sign on the counter bribing "GET FREE DRINK" to anyone who leaves a 5-star review here on Yelp. If you sort these reviews by Newest First, it's easy to notice how there are almost SIXTY consecutive fluffy, single-sentence reviews that say almost nothing of substance. Now you know why. (Before this fake review explosion, their Yelp score was down around 3.4.)Exhibit B: They inflate every bill with an automatic 20% "service fee". Many reviewers have pointed out how it's wrong to charge a fee even when no service is requested, but that's actually the lesser crime here. The greater crime is including karaoke in this calculation at all, because the nature of karaoke as a SELF-SERVICE ACTIVITY means that charging a "service" fee for it is inherently horseshit. It's probably also illegal under California's new junk fee law (SB 478) that took effect in July.Exhibit C: Just to milk a few extra pennies out of people, they even add padding to the sales tax, charging 9.385% instead of 9.375%. LOL.Exhibit D: Instead of a straightforward system of charging by the size of the room, they use a blended method where they charge extra if more people show up. Of course the adjustment only works one way -- upwards, in their favor. Our group started with only 10 people (eventually 12-13), yet they placed us in their gigantic room for 16+ people, and in the end, charged us accordingly. I sent a message pointing out the discrepancy, which they simply ignored; apparently they were all too happy to pocket an extra $53. How consistent.After all the overcharging, the whole outing ended up costing each person in our group ~$15 per hour, which is not competitive at all.For you karaoke fans who'd rather give your money to more ethical businesses, I suggest avoiding:-Pure Karaoke in Milpitas (here)-Focus Karaoke in San Jose-K Time Karaoke in San FranciscoAll are owned by the same people.

So fun but expensive. I love that we get our own room, mics, props, and access to literally any song you want. There's also access to Youtube so you can search anything you'd like. It's definitely a fun time with friends and an overall good vibe.

Brought our own food and drinks in here. The workers are friendly and it's a nice environment to have a party or outing. Good amount of karaoke rooms. Highly recommend!

Amazing karaoke ambiance and great service for a reasonable fun night out with friends

Well Trusted Establishment! Dirty bathrooms. As soon as I arrived, the lady at the front desk said that our room had to be cleaned. They didn't offer alcohol which was perfect since we had someone who was under 21 years old. The room had a wide range of songs and a variety of languages. There were a lot of rooms but I only heard ours. There were no outlets so the people at the front desk were kind enough to charge it. It was open late and was the perfect last minute spot for celebrations.

Nice place to chill on a Friday day. The song system is better compared to others in the Bay Area

Came here for my friends birthday party, it was so fun! The mics were loud, and there was options to pick any song we liked. The ambience was also good as there was alot of space and the vibe was good!

I usually avoid leaving negative reviews, but I'm leaving a review here for the following reasons:First, from the moment we entered, they demanded a service tip upfront. Tips are meant to be given when service is satisfactory, so being asked for one in advance was off-putting. Second, perhaps because they had already received the tip, the staff treated us with an unpleasant attitude and demeanor. Third, the floor in our room was sticky and dirty. We left with sticky shoes. Moreover, we visited because we saw some reviews that said they have Korean songs, but in order to sing them, we had to search and play the tracks on YouTube ourselves. This didn't feel like they genuinely offered Korean songs, but rather just allowed us to play YouTube videos. While they did have some recent K-pop songs, I expected a broader selection of Korean music.Lastly, the service and attitude remained poor even as we were leaving. For these reasons, I have no intention of returning. If any friends ask about my experience, I would strongly recommend against visiting.
