My review is not about the wine- full disclosure because when I took the 30 minute drive up the winding road (beautiful drive by the way) it was closed but looked more deserted. I should have taken a picture to post. The worse part than being closed is I was meeting a girlfriend there and we were both very excited to try the wine and catch some hill top sun rays. When we arrived we were confused as there are no signs open or closed but the environment kind of spoke for itself, clearly no upkeep on the grounds, overgrown weeds and not watered potted plants, debris everywhere. Outdoor patio furniture was dirty/dusty it just looked like no one had been there for a few monthsIf this business is not permanently closed please advice. The place was closed June 8th, 2019 at 12:15pm, it would be extremely helpful to update your hours online seeing as to how the drive is not the most convenient for everybody.

I will never go to poetic cellars again, I had the worst encounter with the owner. A truly rude inappropriate human, horrible temper and just plain rude to his neighbors, I was flabbergasted seeing him yell and scream at his neighbors ! If you want good wine go to storrs!

It's difficult to judge wine fairly when it's turned past its age. In other words, they're still selling the vintages made so long ago that they are past their prime. Still, very nice folks and they host many events at their naturally-cooled cellar building that I'm sure are very enjoyable. They have bottled a 2015 Viognior that they're pretty hopeful of, but didn't have it on hand to taste or purchase, so I'll have to return another time to give that a try.

We like to explore the wine growing areas around the Bay Area and the Santa Cruz mountains is a favorite area with many wineries beautifully tucked away in remote areas of the region. We picked up a flyer at one winery and it directed us to Poetic Cellars which is really tucked away on Soquel Road. It is unlikely you stumble across this winery, it is in the middle of nowhere. The winery is new, Katie the wine maker and owner is usually pouring the wine herself, there is usually a food pairing table to enjoy along with some interesting "artsy" stuff. The dogs Goldie and Whitie are on site to greet you and your dog is welcome as well. The vibe is warm and friendly, the wines are so good I joined their wine club.

This is a great local winery on top of Rodeo Gulch Road. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it when you consider that they are pet friendly, so you can lounge on the patio with your dog while you sip wine and take in the scenery, the owners are so friendly, and the wine is very nice. They recently put on a great fundraiser for the Santa Cruz SPCA, everyone had a wonderful time thanks to Poetic Cellars.

Got there a little early. The winemaker was outside and gladly brought us in for a tasting. I believe his name was Mike. Super friendly guy. My wife and I hit if off instantly with him due to our past time in the wine industry. It was like chatting with and old friend. We also met April (I think that was her name) who was super fun to talk to and kept us entertained. As for their wines, mouvedre was a refreshing old style. We'll definately come back the next time we go tasting in the Santa Cruz area!

We went to Scott's Valley Art & Wine Festival. Poetic Cellars was one of the wineries pouring today. This was my first time trying any of their wine. Since each wine pour was a ticket and each ticket was $3, I only tasted one wine from here. I tried their Ballad from Livermore Valley which is a blend. It was delicious, but reasonably priced at $38 pr. bottle. I even received a coupon for a 2 for 1 tasting so I can go to their place. I look forward to doing so and they said that they'd honor my Wine Passport which means FREE wine tasting. Yeah!!!!

Poetic Cellars is a cozy little winery with great service and good wines. It doesn't have the snazzy pouring counters like other wineries or notably fantastic views or breathtaking decor, but its simple, sweet, and not fussy. I really liked their port. The owner is really fun and friendly. Would definitely come back!

I am somewhat dismayed that many of the 'reviews' have little to do with the wine itself. Ad hominem attacks on the host are not really very useful. We just opened a bottle of the 2007 Stanza Vineyard Syrah. So, reviewers, what did you think of the wine? Eh? I would give this offering about two stars. It probably peaked out around 2012, and would never have been remarkable. The marketing seems to be focused on the label, which is cloyingly sentimental. So that is my review. I don't need to wax 'poetic' about plumbs on the nose or lack of bathtub funk, just post my impressions. I didn't visit the winery; I just drank the stuff. Where did you gas up your SUV's on the way home? How were the snacks at the Circle K?The yelp "Meh. I've experienced better" tag is also obnoxious and demeaning to the reviewer and the subject.

So, Sunday afternoon (around 2pm), we drive all the way up to the winery, there are signs on the road making sure it's open and we are on the right path. The place is empty - nobody there. There is a note on a locked door to call some number if we want tasting - pointless as there is no cell reception there. What a waste of time - they clearly don't care about their customers.
