One of the best burritos I've had in a long time.. The menu can be a little overwhelming and everything here looks awesome. When ordering, I like how you're able to see all the options right in front of you. Y'all know me, I love a good chips and salsa and this spot doesn't fail. Nice and spicy. If you're in the area of San Mateo this is definitely the spot to come to. Sit down and enjoy. 3.80 of 5 stars.

I live in downtown San Mateo and there has always been a decent crowd, so I had high hopes, but this was not it. I got the steak and prawn super burrito while my boyfriend got a chicken super burrito and chicken tacos. We also ordered a large horchata that they forgot to add to the bill, so we didn't get to try that. The steak was very tough, chewy and dry. The prawns were a decent size but nothing exceptional. The chicken was just bland and the salsas had very little flavor, other than some heat. I don't think this Mexican food is worth your money. Walk a couple blocks to Charlie's Taqueria instead.

My first memory of this restaurant is just that. I simply passed by and went in to have a burrito. No plans at all!The place looks clean, but the food is expensive. The people who work here are all friendly, but the cashier, who seems like the manager, is not friendly. Doesn't smile and doesn't greet you kindly. That's the only downside of this restaurant!I always have the burrito here. The size is not that big, but two burritos are $40! Not cheap! No, it's expensive!!

Always crowded, but hits the spot. The sweet spot for me is actually 1 fish taco. It's pretty big. And DELICIOUS! Definitely my go to order. The fish taco + chips is just enough. I usually get it to go, and sometimes would whip up some of my own guac at home. Are they the best tacos I've had? No. But they are all around tasty.

Bummer after bummer after bummer at this place. Meat sizes seem to have gone back to the old portions (larger) so that's good. Lines are usually long so it's not the food flavor that's bad. They have no concept of how to streamline service here. Waiting 20 mins for 2 tacos is unacceptable. Uber eats, to go/online etc orders always come first here and they have for years. The amount of people who congregate in the area that was once the salsa bar is absurd. Advice to the owners: there is PLENTY of space in nearby abandoned restaurants. Open up shop for the massive amounts of online orders and delivery ppl. Make it inaccessible to public, in person orders - online only/delivery only. Keep this spot for dine in and To-go orders placed in person. Get rid of the juice bar - it's unnecessary real estate in an already crammed space. This will make it more inviting and streamline things to attract more ppl. Ppl don't like waiting this long. Get better. Evolve.

I got a shrimp burrito here. It was amazing, fresh, quick. They give you a complementary side of chips and sauces. I was obsessed with their orange hot spicy sauce too. Haven't tasted anything like it! (But additional sauce might cost you.)

I have been a customer for almost 20 years and realized today I am no longer welcomed (so were those who waited for food along with me). I placed my order at 7:14pm. Ordered $65 of food. One item arrived at 7:40pm and the rest arrived at 7:50pm. When asked when my food was arriving, I was given the "indifferent look" and was told "it's coming". The guy at the cashier said "xie xie" and gave me a condescending laugh. No apologies. Of course, there were over 20 other customers who were forced to wait for what was supposed to be "fast food". Good. Now I know I can go somewhere else for Mexican food.

We came here for a quick lunch. This restaurant has always been so busy. Now, we finally paid a visit. They have large food selection and an extensive menu for both food and drinks.Service was quick. At first, I thought it was a self serve restaurant. You order and get the food at the counter. However, they actually brought the food to our table.The food was tasty. We only ordered 2 shrimp tacos and 1 plain rice with chicken. Chicken was salted enough to go well with the rice, but the rice was good on its own even if being eaten alone.

I used to love this place... it used to be an easy 5-STAR! They had great food and amazing service! They also use to have the BEST SALSA BAR in the Bay! Well this was all pre-pandemic!!!! So I went in there the other night and ordered tacos as I normally use to before the pandemic, and after ordering I asked if they put away the Salsa Bar early. They said they never brought it back after the pandemic. I like a lot of salsa with my tacos and my chips. They told me I could only get three of little 1/2 ounce cups with my three tacos. I was at the register and they said I had to pay $5 for extra salsa for a $6 taco plate! I cancelled my order and left! I'll never go back!!!

This is the place to go for high quality mexican food and fast service! Lots of locals come here for the burritos for a reason! Located in downtown San Mateo, Pancho Villa Tacqueria offers a huge selection of Mexican food, and you can simply order at the counter. I ordered the steak and shrimp burrito, and it was packed with smoky steak, juicy prawn, and rice and beans all in a thin long burrito. They also have complimentary chips and salsa if you dine in, but I had to ask for it. So happy I stumbled across this place!
