Surprised me on how great this place is! The interior is so nice and updated. The service is fabulous and quick. I got the Rae Nae roll and LOVED it. My boyfriend got the Cabo Mark and said it was amazing too. It's fairly pricey but it is worth it!

3.5 stars - I wanted to try new sushi place locally and went to Omee J due to higher rating compared to other sushi restaurant in the area. The service and ambience were welcoming.I ordered the spicy scallops roll and dragon roll which was good but the omakase nigiri needs some seasoning. It was mediocre for the price. Not sure if I will be coming back. Will have to try other spots in the area.

It has been awhile since my last update! I came here for a large birthday dinner. My friend had made a reservation for about 20 of us. The restaurant set up our table in the corner near the front of the restaurant. Food:Food, as always, was great. I ordered veggie tempura dinner. The vegetable tempura was super crispy. It has a much better crunch here since it is breaded instead of battered. Service:Service for such a large party was really great. We had multiple servers tend to the table. The food came out as it was ready for the most part. Everyone was very friendly and excited to celebrate the birthday girl. TL;DR - Great sushi restaurant and was great for hosting our large party!

While walking around Valley Fair, I was craving a little sushi and it's one thing I can mention that won't get any resistance from the girlfriend. I wanted to check out some place new. So we went to Omee.J which was right down the street. First of all, while the place does look a little luxurious, you can go in completely casual. I also believe the prices are pretty much what you'd expect from a decent sushi spot, so I think saying this place is "$$$" might be overdoing it. That said, I gotta say it's a bit over priced. I ordered a 10-piece nigiri combo which comes with soup and salad, and because I knew that wouldn't be enough, I also ordered the spicy scallop roll. The nigiri combo was pretty disappointing because I expected bigger pieces. The fish to rice ratio was nice, but overall the size of these things was like 2/3 of what a typical nigiri looks like. With that, there wasn't a whole lot of creativity either. If you look at my, five out of the 10 pieces were topped with a slice of jalapeno. One was red onion. Another was red chili sauce. We can do better than that, guys. On top of that, the spicy scallops weren't spicy nor did I really get the really fresh texture I expect out of a raw scallop. This was pretty much just filler food. I also noticed they had ten-zaru cold soba which I actually love, so I ordered it To-Go along with an eel roll. When we got home, I was disappointed to see that it was just regular soba and not green tea soba. Both my girlfriend and I should share the blame there, but my receipt says ten-zaru and you really have to expect a to-go order to go right especially considering the amount of food we ordered. I want to come back to actually try the green tea soba but this was an overall disappointing experience.

The ambiance and service is decent, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor. The quality of ingredients seems good, but the flavor combination just wasn't for me. I really liked their wasabi though!

Meh. At $90 per person after tax and tip without drinks, I expected more.I'd rather do a proper sashimi dinner elsewhere with better quality cuts of fish. This is what we got:Hamachi Tartare: $22 (2/5). Very mushy, like pureed avocado and sauceJalapeno Ponzu Yellowtail: $23 (4/5). Good flavor and fresh fish.10-piece Chef's Choice Nigiri Combo: $52 (3/5). Hit and miss, smaller cuts of fish than some other places. The tuna and shrimp were particularly bad. The salmon belly and hamachi were good.Fusion Nigiri: each comes with 2 pieces for $11-15 per order- Trio roasted garlic: (4/5) tuna, hamachi, salmon chopped with a chili sauce- Halibut yuzu: (3/5) it had a funny aftertaste, and the fish wasn't super fresh - Roasted garlic seared albacore: (2/5) such a thin cut of albacore with Chinese hot sauce. It wasn't a good mix.Lion King baked roll: $21 (2/5): Super thin cuts of salmon and the crab meat was way too pureed like Safeway sushi. It had a fish aftertaste.Big Daddy: $22 (4/5): yummy! I recommend this. It was shrimp tempura, avocado, tuna, spicy sauces, jalapeno, macamamia nuts, topped with sweet potato crunch and unagi sauceGolden Gate: $21 (4/5) Spicy tuna with roasted garlic chips. Pretty good! Again, could have more fish. For sashimi, I'd rather go to Amami in Cupertino for WAY bigger, fresher cuts of sashimi, and better flavored in their chef's taster, too. Or Yuki Sushi if you just want the highest quality sashimi without ofd flavors.

I was in the mood for sushi last night and decided to try somewhere new instead of my usual spots. I had seen a bunch of reviews on Reddit too check this place out, and I'm glad I finally did. You know it's gonna be good when the salad and miso soup are great. One of my best Miso soups I've had at a sushi place. For the rolls, they were all pretty good but my favorite was the Gilroy roll. The orange blossom was pretty good too.I also got the 4season roll which didn't have any fun sauce on it, but it was huge and filled with a ton of fresh fish which was really good too.Overall, great service, great food, will definitely be back

No idea how I've never been here before but finally made it with a group and got to sample a ton of items.First impression: it's nicer (and bigger) on the inside than you would expect from the strip mall.Overall assessment: the fish is fresh, the food is flavorful, the portions are good size, and (as many reviewers have commented) the prices are higher than most other places. On to the food...Crispy sushi rice: spicy tuna in fried rice with sweet potato crunch. Doesn't seem like much but it was oddly addictive.Yellowtail (hamachi) carpaccio: we had it two ways, with garlic and with jalapeño. Both were excellent but maybe a slight preference to the garlic version.Orange ball roll: orange form the salmon of course but slices of oranges and covered with chopped spicy salmon. Orangey goodness l.Heart of fire roll: tuna and baked eel. I really liked it but one of my dining companions found it too oniony. Rainbow roll: fine but only ok. Probably wouldn't get it again. Sweet and spicy roll: another one that divided the table. Some loved the crunch from the macadamia nuts and sweet potato crunch. I thought there was too much sauce. Halibut and cuttlefish fish: incredibly fresh and tender. If you want to try something a little unusual, go for the cuttlefish. The place seemed to be filled with regulars. There was a line on a Sunday night and it's unclear whether they take reservations. All the servers we interacted with were friendly. It took too long before we tried Omee.J but we'll make sure it's not too long before we go back.

I enjoyed our experience at Omee.J overall. They had good service, and the food was pretty good! We ordered 6 rolls. All were packed with flavor. Our faves were the Josee and Cabo Mark. Would pass on the chicken karaage. Overall, would return if I was in the area but probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
