Old Greenwood BBQ at The Gold Rush Saloon Food Truck

Tried their bbq chicken sandwich and loved it! Will be returning everytime I see this truck!! 9/10

I get that BBQ'ed meat is smoked and it should taste "smokey." But there's smokey and then there's "this should have been off the grill three weeks ago." Serious smokeage and much chewing.Sides were small. Really small. Like one scoop at a boutique ice cream store.Your mileage may vary.

Caught Old Greenwood BBQ at the Cuptertino Night Market, where they were prominently displayed with their amusing graphic ("IT'S FIRE!"). Though they claimed to award winning BBQ, I didn't find it anything too noteworthy as far as ribs go. They were reasonably moist, but definitely needed the sauce to help (which was itself nothing too special either).They had a fairly wide selection of BBQ type items and variable serving sizes (which is certainly appreciated in the fair-type setting). Line wasn't too long and there was a very brief wait for them to plate up the food (I was done before my brother even managed to order something from another truck).We ended up ordering their 3 Bones pork ribs plate, which came with 2 sides (we picked slaw and beans with bacon) and a muffin. The beans with bacon were actually pretty nice with a nice punchy flavor, but unfortunately it was probably the most flavorful thing on the platter. The slaw was really bare and didn't have much on it (relatively refreshing with crisp veggies, but rather bland). The muffin was an average cornmeal muffin and getting pretty dry. Unfortunately the centerpiece of the plate (St Louis Pork Ribs) wasn't too much better. Although they weren't dry, they also were particularly moist or flavorful either; quite middle of the road and the meat didn't really have much of a smokiness to it. The BBQ sauce was really needed to get the texture to the right spot, but tasted rather average.Good enough to sate me for the fair, but I'm hoping their other stuff is better, since I wasn't too impressed with their featured plate.

Two patties on the sandwich, gave me enough to cut it in half and have some the next day. Comes just like you see it. Pulled pork was better.

So..... I'm not sure whether this place goes by Old Greenwood BBQ or Gold Rush AND I'm not sure if, in addition to being a food truck, this place also has a brick and mortar location in Sunnyvale. To be clear, this review is for the food truck. The brick and mortar may have a slightly different menu.I have seen this food truck quite often at various food truck events. The best way to describe this place would be your fail-safe sports bar/drunchies grub food truck. I have gotten their pulled pork nachos AND pulled pork fries, their garlic fries, and their burger. For the most part, their food is nothing outstanding but it's also not bad. They use fresh garlic on their fries, which is always a good sign and a relief. Their burger is not too bad although In-n-Out is a little better, just saying. However, their pulled pork nachos/fries are definitely their specialty, which would make sense given that they are a BBQ place.I'm not the biggest fan of ribs (sorry if I am offending anyone) and they seem to be known for them so all you rib lovers may be happy coming here. My brief search on their yelp page shows that they seem to have a wider menu selection at their brick and mortar versus the truck. Again not a bad food truck at all. I just wouldn't intentionally seek out this place unless I was craving "sports bar" food (which is actually quite often!)

After a LONG time on my bookmarks list, I finally made it out to check out Old Greenwood BBQ. I keep getting sucked in with Uber Eats coupon codes, even though after taxes and fees and tip you barely save anything. Sadly, it looks like my order was placed on an off day, which seems to be on par with some of the reviews where experiences have been hit or miss. It also seems like their full menu isn't available on the food delivery platforms, and you have to go in person to see/order the daily specials and other menu items. My order arrived on time, and I tried:-Pulled Pork Plate (1/2lb Pulled Pork, Two Sides, Corn Muffin, $17.99, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=UKuK4rIwgbYncb8u0vXStw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Just ok. The pulled pork wasn't great or bad, it was just.. fine. It was very smoky, but not very flavorful aside from that. I wasn't a fan of the sides (potato salad and coleslaw)- the potato salad and coleslaw both had too much mayo, and not much flavor. The corn muffin was also dry- skip!-Tater Tots ($5, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=dW7Pne7UiL5-YS5_Km18ow&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I love tater tots, and they're pretty hard to mess up. Sadly, these were just ok and seemed slightly underfried.I would come back to Old Greenwood BBQ to try their burgers and other BBQ items (ribs and brisket). I hope they iron out their consistency issues, since it sounds like they have good food, but just need to make sure all customers have the same great experience!

I found this food truck at a recent art and wine festival, and based on most of my concession food experiences at art festivals I was not expecting much, but boy was I surprised! This food was fantastic! I got the 3 rib plate and the ribs were super big and meaty and tasted perfectly cooked! Fall off the bone tender, and the sides were terrific too. I actually made sure I kept my receipt so I can find them again next time I am in the mood for good ribs. Totally recommend, and the price was decent too.

This bbque is delicious!!! I personally love the Carolina sauce!!!! The brisket is fabulous. Chicken and ribs mouth watering! The sides are no joke too. I have gotten the baked beans on a couple occasions to take home for when I grill.Great wonderful atmosphere. The head chef Melvin and his crew are always so dizer fun!4 stars only cause the chili isn't back! Bring it back!

Great food and very good service bring clothes that can get messy - finger food !Bar service for beers and mixed drinks are an added benefit.Stay tuned for weekend music too.

Food is excellent, ambiance is serene due to the golf course being in the surrounding area, would suggest sitting outside and grabbing a few drinks from the saloon. Service is fast and friendly, can't say enough good things about this place. They also do karaoke on Wednesday nights from 6:30-10:30. It's off the beaten path so you wouldn't know it was there unless you really looked for it. But once you go here it's a hidden gem.
