The first time I came here i got siu mai and they were solid! Second time, I got a chow mein for $5 and it came with the box full! So much good value. It was on the drier side but it was also toward the end of the day so it was probably being heated for a while. I got shrimp dumplings too and they were good but also a little dry. The pork and preserved egg porridge was $6.5 for a large container and I would come back for it again! The service is quick as she is able to grab the food already ready from the steamers. The inside is super authentic chinese! I'd definitely come back earlier in the day to get more fresh food.

New Hwong Kok is a solid go-to spot for quick and affordable dim sum. The prices are incredibly cheap, especially the combo deals, which make it easy to grab a satisfying meal without spending much. When I visited, the place was bustling with Chinese customers--a great sign that the food is legit. While it doesn't match the refinement of a high-end dim sum restaurant, it absolutely gets the job done. The selection is good, the service is fast, and the flavors hit the spot when you're craving dim sum on the go. Definitely a great local spot to support!

It's been nearly eight since last review. However I've been back a handful of times for my go to combo + other add on's.Not much has changed. The little shop in this strip mall reminds me of a mom and pop business in Sf's Chinatown where staff speaks Chinese and shipping boxes are everywhere in the entry lobby. Im sure it's organized chaos. I have my favorites and I point on the board but since I don't speak the language, the older Chinese lady becomes louder and near rude when I dont understand. Please can I make a public request to have someone who can speak and understand English as a front person with adequate customer service knowledge. That person can work with rude lady, if needed.Although my favorite items (Baked BBQ pork bun, turnip cake, congee and yellow noodles) have me returning). I'm afraid to recommend this location bc of the minimal English and rude customer service i encountered on 12/28.

This review is just for their egg tarts. It's a deal at $18 a dozen! They're also double the size of the ones you get at dim sum these days. It's been at least a year since I last visited and stopped by recently when in the area. The recipe has improved and so has the crust. It's super flaky and even better when baked in the air fryer for a few minutes. The egg is nice and custardy.Parking shouldn't be a problem but the spaces are a bit narrow at this strip mall. It's located across the street from the Asian supermarket and plaza.

Came here to pick up lunch on a Saturday and there was a slight line, but not too bad since they had 2 people working the counter. They look like they have a patio outside, but there are no tables & chairs in the establishment so it's definitely a grab & go kind of place. We took our food to a nearby park called Boggini Park with our picnic blanket to have the food while it's still fresh. There are tables at the park which could be the better option since the grass was a bit overgrown. I usually only get Dim Sum in SF Chinatown, but this place is pretty good. It's not quite up to par with the Chinatown shops, but good for a place in San Jose. Best items were the Har Gao (Shrimp dumplings). I really wanted to try their pan fried chive dumplings but they were out when we got there and they didn't give a time estimate as to when the next batch would be done. ~~Parking: Plenty of space because the restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall that's somewhat dead so there's ample parking. You could also eat the food in the parking lot since there's a lot of shaded spots as well. ~~Service: Good, the servers were very nice. ~~Worst Part: The sauces that they provide. I was hoping to get at least a knock off sriracha, but the packets they gave were like chili oil that wasn't spicy. ~~Tips: Bring your own sauces and napkins if you plan on enjoying the food not at home. ~~Return: Maybe.

Giving them 3 stars because I love their crab rangoons, taro, and this one mochi pastry that has pork inside (i wish i knew its name), but other items that i've tried are only okay. The service is really fast-paced and can be overwhelming if you do not know what you want to order. Despite this, I keep returning to get my faves! Solid spot if you are looking for quick take-out dimsum.

Every time I go to my Dentest in Milpitas, I stop by my favorite dim sum place. So happy to get some dim sum in Milpitas. They are so good. I love shumai and hawcow there. I wish we have place like this in Texas.:( Their lunch special is the best deal. You get a porridge and so many kinds of dumplings for $10.It's still cheap for the amount of dim sum you get. The owner is very hard worker. I see her every time I go there for last 13 years. They open from morning until evening. No days off. Amazing for a small business like this. Thank you always for serving such a great dim sums.

This place is okay. I ordered shrimp dumplings and it's actually really good! I'm not a big fan of Chinese food but I've heard the food here is authentic. It's just that this place is dirty and the servers don't wear gloves. Touches money and everything and then gets the container and serves you food. Sometimes the food even touches their hands when they put the food in the container. Just gross.

I have had negative experiences with the staff at this store the past few times, but it has gotten to the point where "I'm done" with this store and will not go back there. My experiences from multiple visits: 1) The staff DO treat people with LESS respect if you do not speak their native language. 2) Prices have gone up SIGNIFICANTLY lately and the quality is gotten poor.....pineapple buns are no longer warm and soft, but were cold, dry, and hard this past visit. I deserve better than having to pay MORE money for cold hard buns. 3) The main reason I went there was for their egg custart tarts. By the time I found out, it was too late to go back and exchange it, but they actually did not put any sugar in the egg tart. I have never experienced that before ANYWHERE! It felt like biting into bland yellow rubber. There was NO sugar in that egg custart filling. And no, they did not have "sugar-free" egg tart option. I'm done.
