I've had this place on my list for a while and finally decided to drive over to that side of the Bay for an early anniversary lunch celebration. I don't typically get the opportunity to eat this type of food so this was a new but welcome experience. We ordered the homemade pretzel, sausage trio, Hungarian beef goulash, and classic wiener schnitzel to try out. The meal came with complimentary bread and butter before the appetizers came out. I'm not sure if this is typical but the bread was pretty tough? I'm used to softer bread so we didn't eat much of it. But I would say everything that we ordered was spot on. The homemade pretzel was warm and soft, which just the right amount of salt. The beer cheese was new to me, but definitely a nice compliment to the pretzel. Super cheesy but not too salty. The sausage trio came with a special sausage of the day (forgot to ask), bratwurst, and paprikawurst on top of a bed of sauerkraut, cabbage, and onions. Also a side of mustard but I'm not a fan of mustard so I didn't use it. My favorite was the paprikawurst because there was a little heat to it and I found out here that I like sauerkraut! For the mains, while both were delicious, I definitely preferred the beef goulash more. Super super tender meat accompanied by a savory sauce. The meat gave way with just a touch of the fork. It was also topped with sour cream and pepper slices for a bit of a kick. The classic wiener schnitzel was thin but quite large and came with a simple arugula salad. It was not too oily and had just the right amount of seasoning. A side of spatzle was included with the goulash. It seemed a little bland but I've never had the dish before so not sure what it was supposed to be. Even though we were too full at the end for dessert, staff actually brought out a complimentary pistachio ice cream-like dessert for our celebration. I was so surprised and really appreciative that they did that!I had a great lunch here. Food came out at a great pace and we were checked on multiple times. They have indoor and outdoor seating that you can choose between. They also had a lot of other great dishes that sounded interesting. If I was in the area again, I'd definitely stop by.

Nice change, if you are looking for a different cuisine. The Paprikawurst(Spicy Sausage) was yummy & Beet Salad fresh & tasty. For mains, the Tagliatelle Lamb Pasta was very tasty & the grilled Swordfish came on an interesting lentil bed. But the best dish was the Salzburg Dessert Souffle with vanilla ice-cream - delectable, an absolute must.Cozy place, a bit tight, but welcoming. The Service is quick & friendly.

First time trying this cuisine and it definitely did not disappoint! We came here for our one year anniversary and it was perfect. It was quiet and relaxing restaurant. We were seated very quick and ordered some bread and spicy paprikawurst. The onions, Dijon mustard, and sauerkraut all paired so well together. It was my first time trying sauerkraut and i was only able to eat just a bit. It was still pretty good! We ordered the special of the day which was pork chop with garlic mash potatoes, broccolini, and apple bacon and the classic wiener schnitzel. The special was delicious! It was well prepared and tender. There were hints of sweetness and good balance of saltiness from the mash potatoes and meat. Not overly salty at all. The schnitzel was huge. And when i mean huge, i mean HUGE. There were two piece so they were not skimping on our dish. The meat was juicy and not dry. The lingonberry jam was my favorite. I'm not a fan of potato salads in general, so it tasted okay to me.Honestly, we would come back again and try other Austrian dishes. The experience was wonderful and opened our mouths to new flavors. The service was great. Our server was always attentive and made sure our needs were met.

The food overall had a good balance of flavors, but texture or cook might have been off. Portions were more filling than expected. All sauces were very creamy but didn't feel sickening. Dishes had good composition and choice of vegetables, flavors, and textures. My favorites of what we ordered were the kraut rouladen and pretzel (asked for a side of mustard). The kraut rouladen was like a meatball over some creamy spatzle and crisped kale. Tasted good, but could have used more of a wetter sauce. Additionally, one of the roasted potato halves was burnt and dry. Pretzle was good and cheese paired nicely, but I liked their mustard a lot. Personally, it would have been more worthwhile to order the side pretzel ($12) which does not come with the cheese, but I just like mustard.Smoked chicken spatzle is different enough from the side spatzle you get with the entrees. Entree spatzles are reminiscent of mac and cheese. While the appetizer is as well very creamy, it has fresh elements with mushrooms and corn. Noodles are quite mushy compared to Italian pasta. Not sure what good spatzle is like, though.Swordfish was a little dry. Peppers were surprisingly spicy for a European place, but helped cut the creamy-ness.Jager schnitzel was covered in a mushroom sauce so it was no longer crunchy. It's probably good if you like schnitzel, but I do not. I can appreciate that it wasn't overly salty.Waitstaff did not seem to have great communication as we would tell or ask one server for something and have to repeat it to a different person who would come.Lovely ambiance, but it was very noisy inside and hard to hear the person across the table from me. Tables were also placed a little awkwardly so waitstaff would sometimes bump into me or have to stand close behind a diner to wait for someone to passbook.Still a lovely classy little place and I would come back.

I brought my parents & relatives from out of town to an early dinner on Fri night; made same-day reso via OpenTable for 5:30p, party of 6. street parking was easy on that block for that time of evening.Service was lovely and the food was spectacular. 2 of us had a cocktail and glass of wine to start, then 6 entrées shared family style, finished w 2 desserts and an espresso. w tax + Large Party 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill, it was ~ $70 pp.Here's what we ordered:Drinks (Not pictured, I forgot):NAKED & FAMOUS 17(off-menu)IBA official cocktail: equal parts mezcal, yellow Chartreuse, Aperol, and fresh lime juice.- Bartender was knowledgeable when I requested a cocktail w mezcal, he suggested this and I love chartreuse so I went with it. It was delicious and a perfect opener to the meal.SILVERADO SAUVIGNON BLANC (glass) 16Entrées:Tonight's Special: PISTACHIO CRUSTED RACK OF LAMB 48- delicious! if you have a preference for meat temp, let them know; one of the racks was medium rare on inside while the other one was sort of medium well. It worked for us since after slicing into 6 bone-in pcs, we had a variety of preferences among our party so everyone got to have their preferred temp. went well w the mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables.PAN ROASTED STURGEON 43fresh corn grits, summer succotash, lordons- delicious, and the accompaniments were perfect, especially the fresh corn grits.CLASSIC WIENER SCHNITZEL 45with lingonberry sauce, Austrian potato salad, lemon and crispy parsley- star of the show, went very well with the lingonberry sauce.JAGER SCHNITZEL 38pork schnitzel braised in a mushroom cream sauce with spätzle, broccolini and garlic confit- classic, sauce was wonderfully creamy without overpowering the flavor of the pork. loved the abundant mushrooms, really good in the sauce.DOUBLE COOKED PORK BELLY 42marinated cabbage salad, daikon, herbs, lime-soy vinaigrette, braised cherries, pumpkin seeds- perfectly crisp skin and very tender body, excellent dish.HUNGARIAN BEEF GOULASH 42beef shoulder braised in paprika, served with herbed spätzle, Hungarian pepper and sour cream- classic, the meat is so soft and flavorful; definitely needs the spätzle (included) as it would be too salty on its own.Desserts:SALZBURGER NOCKERL 16Fluffy vanilla soufflé with blueberry compote & vanilla bean ice cream- served freshly made, so fluffy and the combo w the compete + ice cream was decadent.APFEL STRUDEL 15Apple & hazelnut strudel with whipped cream, toasted almonds & vanilla bean ice cream- hazelnut and toasted almonds were so fragrant!Coffee:MILCHKAFFEE 5.5Single espresso with warm milk- revival after a long day lolI've been to the Campbell location a few times over the course of the last decade and at this point, the food at the newer Palo Alto location is even better. Everyone left full and happy :) Highly recommend!

One word: YUM!!! I shared the Jager Schnitzel and the Lamb Tagliatelle with a friend and they were both so good. The spätzle blew me away-- it was perfectly light and buttery. A bit on the pricier side but you get what you pay for and this is 100% worth it! Ambience inside is amazing, good volume level and pretty upscale. The service was great too-- we didn't have to wait too long for anything! Finding parking is easy and the neighborhood around is super cute. Would highly recommend.

Oh how I wish we had a restaurant like this a little closer to home! Naschmarkt had a beautiful interior decor, pleasant outdoor seating, wonderful food and drink options, and engaged service. Yes, it's a little pricey but not exorbitant for what it is.Along with beer and wine, we ordered:* Austrian Cold Cuts - the large platter included yummy cold cuts, pickled vegetables, pretzel chips, and 4 mounds of different spreads: Chicken Liver, Salmon Pate, Pork Rillette, and a spiced Goat Cheese. It was delicious but I would have preferred it served with their amazing bread which was brought later during our main course - 4/5* Jager Schnitzel -- thin pork in a luscious mushroom sauce with charred broccolini and a creamy spaetzle side dish. I loved that the pork wasn't breaded and felt light for such a rich dish. The broccolini was so delicious that I wished there was more of it - 5/5.* Weiner Schnitzel with pork -- this was my husband's meal which I sampled, served with lingonberry sauce and a German-style potato salad. The breading on the pork was crispy and the lingonberry sauce balanced it perfectly - 4/5We were too full for dessert, but the kindly servers brought us a goblet of their scrumptious sorbet anyway while singing Happy Birthday to my husband. It was a sweet ending in multiple ways to a very nice meal. 4.5 rounded up.

Wow we were blown away by the amazing food, service and ambiance at this second location of Naschmarkt. It's on a lovely quiet corner in Palo Alto and the interior is lovely and warm. Our server was friendly and the manager was very engaging. They have a fab cocktail menu and every entree we got was delectable. The spaetzle are homemade and luxurious and come with most meals. Our dessert was an Austrian cream dish that was very unique and delicious. We will definitely be back!

Solid 3.5 stars! The best thing we ordered was the dessert - apple strudel. Perfectly crispy and lightly burnt, not overly sweet. Wonderfully ending to a meal. The appetizers and entrees were decent - nothing to rave about. I particularly enjoyed the side dishes though. The vegetables were perfectly charred. The potato salad was an interesting middle point between more chunked potato salad and mashed potatoes. Everything was soaked in pickle juice. The flavors and the texture made it more refreshing than your usual German potato salad.
