Been here a couple times. All noodles and soups are stand out. Curries are good too, even the seafood ones and I typically don't love seafood curry. Noodles have good heat, soups and curries and rich and flavorful. Noodles have good bite and some dishes come with good lemon and chili sauces. Can be a bit salty but good management, fast service and food.

I visited Mingala with a group of friends, and we got to sample a wide variety of dishes from their menu. We tried the roti pratha with curry sauce, hokkien mee, rendang, belachan kangkung, salt & pepper fish fillets, café baby short ribs, and their coconut rice.Among everything we ordered, the café baby short ribs and the salt & pepper fish fillets stood out as clear favorites. The short ribs were incredible--the marinade, made with ground coffee, added a subtle bitterness that perfectly balanced the sweetness of the glaze. It's a unique flavor combination, and I can't think of another spot in the Bay offering anything quite like it.The salt & pepper fish fillets were also outstanding. While this dish isn't hard to find in the Bay Area, Mingala's version is one of the best I've had. The batter was light, thin, and perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of seasoning. It was a crowd favorite at our table--despite being one of the last dishes to arrive, it was the first to be polished off.The only (minor) criticism I had on the food was that the curries felt like they could've been more intense in their flavors. For example, I thought the beef rendang could have been reduced a bit more so the coconut flavors were more prominent. The dish itself was otherwise well made -- the beef was fall-apart tender. If you're craving traditional Malaysian and Burmese cuisine, Mingala is the place to go. The food is excellent, and I'd gladly come back to try more of their menu.

+ Affordable Lunch Specials+ Super fast service+ Ample seating and parking- Taste is just averageYeah I would recommend Mingala for lunch 100%. If you're someone like me who wants a quick lunch to fit into your lunch break, Mingala's got you covered! The service is lightning quick, and the lunch specials are good value to boot! For about $15, not only do you get an entree, but you also get a free iced tea! That's value! Truth be told, the taste of the food is just OK. I've come here twice and had the green curry as well as the mee goreng, and both tasted about par for the course, something you can get at any Thai or SEA restaurant. Nevertheless, for the nice service, excellent ambiance, and great value, I'd say Mingala is a remarkable option, especially for lunch. Enough talk.

The food as always was fantastic, service was excellent. No matter how busy they are they are always courteous and friendly. The ambiance reminds me of my home Malaysia cozy, people chatting away and eating. Fantastic job making it a good place to hang out and enjoy all those wonderful Specialities that they labor in the kitchen.

Food was good and fresh, but not as tasty as Straits on Santana Row. Would definitely go again when in the area, just not a destination. Fried rice a bit bland so I bought extra curry for my murtabak and poured it on the rice. Service was fast! Didn't expect it to be this quick during prime dinner hours.

Burmese- Malaysian restaurant in Newark - 2.5 stars rounded up to 3. Met a friend for dinner here last weekend. I was looking forward to having some authentic Nasi Lemak, which we both ordered with chicken rendang. Also got chicken Tom Yum Soup. Nasi Lemak was disappointing - the fish sauce and chicken rendang were quite bland and the rice was not as sticky as I like. Tom Yum was worse - sharp taste with low quality chicken and vegetables inside. We left most of it uneaten. Service was fine. Bathrooms were adequate. Plenty of parking in the lot outside. Won't be coming back.

Mingala Restaurant Review:Last weekend, we had dinner at Mingala, located in the corner of the Asian complex in Newark. Though the restaurant is a little hard to spot, we decided to give it a try despite the lack of a crowd on a Friday night. From the moment we entered, the experience was wonderful. The owner and server were incredibly pleasant and offered several great recommendations from the menu.We started with jasmine-flavored hot tea, which was amazing. For our meal, we ordered Tom Yum vegetable soup, roti parata, basil egg fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, and egg noodles. The portion sizes were surprisingly large! The Tom Yum soup, in particular, could easily serve four people. In fact, all the dishes were very generous in size. The roti parata stood out as one of our favorites. Most places serve two pieces, but here we got four for just $5.99 - excellent value for money. The basil fried rice was also delicious, and we noticed that the dishes were packed with a variety of fresh vegetables. Our favorite dishes were the roti parata, fried rice, and soup. The restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable, making it a great spot to enjoy Malaysian and Burmese cuisine. If you're ever craving this type of food, Mingala is a must-try!

Came here with my brother's family and Mom around noon on a Saturday. They were not busy, so we were able to get a table for 9 with no wait. The waitress came to take our order quickly, and the food came out pretty quick as well. We ordered a variety of dishes to share family style. Sauteed watercrest - I enjoyed it. It was just as I expected. Hainan chicken - this was ok. Not the best that I have had, but then I have been to Michelin Star rated Hainan chicken stalls in Singapore, so maybe not a fair comparison.Cafe short ribs - most of our party didn't really like this dish. The black pepper short ribs that we ended up ordering too was much better. Green curry beef - the sauce had a nice level of spiciness and it had a variety of veggies in there. Went really well with plain rice. Pineapple fried rice - this was ok as well. It doesn't have the fragrant and taste that I have tasted at other Asian restaurants. Chicken wings - this was ok as well. Char kuey tew - this was tasty. Reminds me of food stalls in Malaysia. Overall, this was a good place for casual Asian food. They have a big menu. Service was good and quick. I would recommend giving this place a try.

It is a spacious, clean place serving delicious Burmese, malay, and Indonesian food. I have been wanting to go there for more than a year now and we finally went there this week. We had tea leaf salad, salt & pepper eggplant, chicken rendang, and sambal fried rice. my fav being the rendang curry, blending so well with the spicy fried rice. The service was quick too! I was surprised that the place looked quite empty
