I've tried my fair share of dim sum spots, and Ming Yuan does not disappoint! The food here is fresh, flavorful, and consistently high quality--exactly what you want from a great dim sum restaurant.

this place felt nice and homey. you can tell it's definitely a place we're and family (adults and children) come in to have dinner together. This places does get busy and packed pretty quickly. it's very hard to Find parking , as it is street parking. optionally you can park at Home Depot and walk over to the restaurant. Food was OK. I was not too impressed by the flavor. But it was fresh .Service is fast. I will come back to dry their lunch time dim sum

Continuing my conquest to find the best dim sum restaurants in the Bay Area, I found myself at Ming Yuan after receiving a few recommendations to give them a try. I made my way to the restaurant for opening around 10AM on a Sunday morning. And to this point, definitely try to get here early! As soon as the restaurant was open, tables were packed in with families looking to get some dim sum.Looking at the menu of options, the restaurant boasted most of your Cantonese favorites most dim sum restaurants have. And to this point, the price point wasn't terrible either. At the time of this review, a small cost $5.35, medium cost $6.35, large cost $7.35, special cost $8.35, deluxe cost $9.35, and chef special cost $10.35. Compared to other restaurants in the area, Ming Yuan definitely has their costs managed as a small at other restaurants can easily start at 7 dollars or more. Because of this, I found the restaurant to be well reasonable in 2025.And trying the dishes, the food was pretty good! Of the dishes available, I was able to try the siu mai, chicken feet, bean curd rolls, pork spareribs, beef with rice noodle soup, pan fried turnip cake, and beef balls. Of these items, the siu mai, chicken feet, and spareribs were the best. The pork in the siu mai was rich with flavor and very delicious to eat. Tasting the chicken feet, I found the flavor to be sweet and savory from the black bean sauce. With soft meat, each piece of bone was easily pulled apart and jelly-like. And having the spareribs, each piece was moist and rich with pork flavor. The other items weren't terrible either and were definitely very authentic, but just know there are potentially better options out there. The bean curd rolls had a good ratio of skin to them, but did not have much in terms of flavor. The beef noodle soup had delicious rice noodles that were chewy to eat. But on a similar remark, the pieces of beef were very chewy and difficult to eat without work. The broth was also a tad too sweet which threw off the taste a little. The turnip cake had good flavor to it, but it tasted very heavy and needed a tad more sponginess. And for last, the beef ball had good beefy flavor in the meat. But with the amount of onions and chives inside, it clashed with the meat and bean curd skin on the bottom.Cantonese Dim Sum is a unique experience in that it's a very social kind of meal. And to this point, Ming Yuan has a great environment for doing exactly that. The price was on the lower end for dim sum on the peninsula which is definitely the draw of the restaurant. But because some of the items fell through, I would argue Ming Yuan deserves a solid 4 stars. Of any last notes, get here early! The tables fill up fast and the wait time can get long. Fortunately, parking is ample around the restaurant given you're willing to walk 5-10 minutes.

Hit or miss, random. Some days absolutely delicious and some days a little short.Asked for water 4 times in about 30mins before I got it. Server said ok and then kept forgetting. They have walls to section off rooms for banquets or special events*FOOD:-salted fish fried rice: I like this. There's a really good fried rice aroma and taste you just can't duplicate cooking at home. I don't know how restaurants do it.-lamb hot pot: comes on top of a stovetop burner. Gets very hot so be careful picking up the spoon they leave in it. Almost burned myself. Dish is ok. Comes with salty bean curd sauce to dip your lamb into-beef rib: one day it was SO tasty good and another day it was SO disappointing (dry, tough meat). Inconsistent. Dim sum available in mornings

I have been coming to Ming Yuan periodically since 2012. I currently live a short 3min drive from this establishment. I have seen it undergo multiple renovations since. Within the restaurant appears much more modern with a warm-cozy feeling with the new white/grey tiled walls with yellow painted posts. I personally don't come here for the "dim sum" portion eg. your typical steamed dim sums dishes like ha gow, shiu mai, beef tripe, or beef balls etc. Not to say they are bad here, but they get redundant really fast. I came here with just my mom. Below is what we ordered. Crispy brown rice crepe: 5/5, I typically rotate with these or the beef crepes. These are a must try if you've never had before. Essentially its a deep fried dry bean curd skin roll w/ shrimp wrapped with your typical rice crepe. Unsure what makes the crepe purple, however the qq texture of the crepe paired with the crispiness of the deep fried bean curd roll compliment each other so well.Salt and pepper tofu cubes: 5/5, usually it comes freshly deep fried after you order. They've got great black pepper flavor. So refreshing. Rice noodle HK style with minced pork with preserved vegetables: 5/5, This is a MUST try at any Dim Sum establishment. I personally love the sour + savoriness from the preserved vegetables; theres so much depth in flavor coupled with the crispy rice noodle pieces. There are many ways to order this dish eg chasiu, seafood, chicken, etc, make sure you tell them you want minced pork (yok si) WITH preserved vegetables (suan cai)Salted egg yolk bun (Milky custard buns H08): 5/5, perfect dessert to finish the meal. The buns are so soft and pillowy. Make sure to eat these right away. I find the most joy eating these when I split them down the middle, exposing the runny lava goodness. Caution as it is often extremely hot. Must try. They also offer a wide range of teas. I personally like oolong or jasmine green tea. Fair warning, some of the waiters may be rude, but honestly that comes with any Chinese establishment; please don't take it personally.

After a really bad experience at another restaurant in the Sunset we decided to give this one in Daly City a try. Located not far from Westlake Mall, it's located on top of a hill, alongside other businesses. The parking situation is a little complicated, still; however, there is plenty of parking space around the restaurant, just not immediately within the vicinity. This used to be a King Wah, which was a BIG staple of my childhood -- but I'm glad to see that it became a better version of that restaurant and renamed as well. This restaurant definitely had the capacity to seat big parties like our family function, which we had 11 people. Here's how our experience went at this restaurant -- keep in mind that I did put our experiences over the rest of the reviews that I saw online: Food: 8/10 I'd recommend getting the party combos for 11 people since it's actually more than enough to feed everybody. A little bit more on the expensive side, but a very smart financial decision when eating with so many people. We got the $498 combo which consisted of 10 to 11 different dishes -- one of them being BBQ Combo Platter, Bamboo Pith & Seafood Soup, and more. The BBQ platter left my taste palates wanting more honestly. The highlight would probably have to be the whole Peking duck that we got -- alongside the sea cucumber with mushrooms and pea sprouts. The texture was spongy and saucy and honestly, with the amount given to us, I can't complain about it. What blew me away was the dessert: not only was it red bean soup, but it was also typical dim sum items that we didn't really expect to be part of the menu. With a sponge cake and egg custard buns. Service: 9.5/10The service given to us was pretty superb -- it was very responsive and we really appreciate it a lot. Despite the fact that there were 11 people in our group, they did everything in their might to make sure that our experience was a good one, and that we had a spectacular time. The fact that we didn't have to wait for the big table meant a significant amount to us, and the professionalism that the waitresses and the owner treated us with respect, integrity, and made us also feel like family at home. Atmosphere: 7/10Given that this restaurant was on a hillside, I'm not gonna blame the restaurant, but it was a little tight in terms of space. It was hard to get in and get out from the tables, and while I had appreciated that the service was superb, the patrons around us were not as nice, and also lacked manners. We had told several tables several times to mind their own business, of which I had to talk to them in a very condescending manner. Overall, the community around Daly City is nice, but just be aware of people who will act like buttholes.

Located in Daly City, Ming Yuan is right next to a shopping plaza, and a long a street with a ton of other restaurants. When you walk in in the morning for dim sum, you'll find that it's bustling and lively! All of the dim sum dishes cost about $7 -$10, and so it can add up quickly if you're ordering a lot. However, the tea is good, and the dim sum is pretty high quality and tasty! If you're looking for an authentic dim sum experience, you can't go wrong with this restaurant!

The short description for this yelp page is so accurate. This place IS known for its salted egg yolk pumpkin. I'm an avid chicken cartilage fan and they have a salted egg yolk pumpkin with chicken cartilage dish that is my favorite so far. It's not that great overnight but amazing when fresh! This place is one of our go-to places for dim sum when we want to stay close to SF (compared to the other dim sum locations by the airport.) Their duck is also 10/10 but you should order it the minute you sit down because it takes up to 45 minutes to make it. The dim sum itself is good but average. This place came a long way ever since the King Wah days. Nevertheless, do come for the first round of dim sum or make reservations for dinner ahead of time.

My family's go to place for brunch dim sum and for large dinners! Everything is very flavorful and well presented, just the right amount of savory. Everything is generously seasoned. Wait and host staff were very prompt and quick. Food comes out very fast! Didn't even have to wait 10 mins before dishes kept coming from the kitchenParking is really tough especially during peak brunch and dinner time, but you can park in the Home Depot lot down the block!

I ordered a lot of Dimsum. I asked for soy sauce, but the lady gave me 2 small sachets. I told her, Can you please add more because we ordered a lot? But she doesn't want to give me. Our dimsum deserves a soy sauce! LOL! POOR customer service. Not generous! See the screenshot attached. She gave me a total of 6 sachets because I asked her three times! Like, why do I need to beg? 6 sachets are still not enough! What the h!
