Food: Flavors were amazing! just the right balance of salt, spice, and umami. We got crispy tofu and it was delicious but I wish there was a sauce for it. The wonton in chili sauce was my boyfriend's favorite. It was a subtle, tingly spice. We both got the braised beef soup and it was good. Too many pieces of fat for my liking and we wish it had more meat. Xiao long bao (Not pictured) was standard and yummy but a bit overpriced for 6 pieces.Service: There wasn't a lot of people when we went and there was only 1 server. She was kind and attentive.Ambiance: It's quiet, ac felt good in the heat, and bathrooms are clean. You order with your phone through a QR code.

XLB was decent with good soup~ the hot and sour soup, mapo tofu and pork fried rice was unfortunately midbeef noodle broth was good but the noodles were not

Cute little spot with a very wholesome ambiance. The various noodles I tried were good. My favorite dish was the fried eggplant. Service was friendly.

Moved here over a year ago and due to elderly family members we now only get food to go. My 93 year old father, who ate in Seattle's Chinatown in the 1950's and I ate in SF Chinatown in the 1980's, found that the best places were where the locals ate at. Our first visit so we tried the egg rolls, fried rice, green beans with beef, lemon chicken and honey walnut prawns. Everyone liked everything, so after trying four other local restaurants and thinking it may be hopeless, we are all happy to have found the May Flower. We plan to start trying other items on their menu soon.

My wife is Chinese and this is our local take-out spot. Legit Chinese food that even the in-laws approve of. She's been ordering from here for years & years and it's always been good.

We came here for Lunar New Year and found the small restaurant full of people celebrating. We were able to snag a table and we're given a free pot of hot tea. Ordering is done by QR code system and our dishes arrived quickly. We ordered:Vegetable egg roll 3.5/5 (filling had good flavor but was mushy inside indicating likely being frozen)Shredded bean curd 4.5/5 Vegetable chow fun 3/5 (bland)String beans with mushroom 5/5 (best string beans I've ever had, forgot to take a pic it was so good)Salt and pepper tofu 3.5/5 (excellent tofu, lacked seasoning)This is a true hidden gem with authentic dishes and good vegetarian options. Can't wait to be back!

Mayflower is far and away the best Chinese food I've had in San Jose and it isn't particularly close. I've loved this place since I first came around five years ago, and after countless meals here my appreciation has only deepened. Many restaurants have one or two dishes that are really good, but from top to bottom the menu at Mayflower is great. Every time we try a new dish I half-expect it to finally be the time we get something mediocre and yet it still hasn't happened.I could never come here without getting an order of the Salt & Pepper Fish Fillets. I'm not even a big fish person, but this delicious is absolutely incredible and if you take only one recommendation from me, let it be that. The Wok-Fried String Beans, Wontons with Hot Sauce, and Ma Po Tofu are also staples that my wife and I order basically every time we come but the deliciousness certainly doesn't stop there. Beef Chow Fun, Mongolian Beef, Garlic Pork Spareribs, it's all great.Mayflower is a top five restaurant from me in the whole South Bay, and I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone looking for amazing Chinese food. I wish there was some honor above five stars that I could bestow upon them, but alas, this is all I can do for this exemplary establishment.

repost from 9/6/2021Visiting my Aunt in San Jose (I am from San Francisco), we were in the mood for Chinese take out. I normally have a high tolerance for take out; as it can never be as good as dining "in". First of all, I will give high marks for the Sesame Chicken, Fried Fish Fillets and Salt and Pepper pork chops. Pot Stickers were OK, but the skin was very thick.HOWEVER - Terrible chicken salad. This is the only reason I am writing this review; I was actually shocked! when I opened the container that cost us $9.95.In general, Chinese Chicken Salad should HAVE sliced lettuce, sliced red cabbage, shredded carrots, green onion, sliced almonds, with "chunks" of chicken, and maybe some fried noodles mixed in. A dressing that has a mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, sugar etc...What did May Flowers Chicken Salad have? None of the above (except for the chicken).OF COURSE there are variations in the ingredients, and I am happy to try every restaurants Chinese Chicken Salad, but the "core" ingredients are usually always the foundation of a good Chicken Salad. The overall "visual" of Chinese Chicken Salad is a julienned mixture of vegetables. Please see the picture below; this is what we received. I think the prep time was 1 minute, enough time to make the chicken "bits" hot, and to break off a chunk of Iceberg lettuce.Come on May Flower!!!! You can do way better than this. Are you actually delivering this to your Customers in the restaurant? I am not a RABBIT; and to charge $9.95 for this is absolutely ridiculous. Please do better. This is a $9.95 Chinese Chicken Salad. Probably $1 worth of chicken and $0.25 of iceberg. This is a $9.95 Chinese Chicken Salad. Probably $1 worth of chicken and $0.25 of iceberg.

It took me a while to find this place but I was looking for authentic Chinese food in San Jose , and I found a gem ! The menu is on the QR code at the table , and then you order from your phone , which was pretty cool .Hot tea is served complimentary and they also have a good selection of lunch specials to choose from. The lunch specials are from 11am -2pm .I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it came with a sweet and sour soup and white rice ,it was delicious !!

My family and I moved out of state. And when ever we go back to the bay we try and hit up our favorite spots. We did that yesterday. We came here specifically for their xlb and ordered chili oil wontons as well. It was such a great lunch and we were able to take left overs home. I just had their chili oil wontons and they taste even better and spicier than I remember. Thank you to this little gem for a wonderful meal, even a few states away!
