I came to pick up some Mexican food for breakfast and found this little gem tucked inside of the Prima Market. I got 2 orders of Huevos a la Mexicana, one with added protein of chorizo, another with jamón. The eggs were scrambled to perfection and mixed well with the meat. The sides consist of fresh avocado slices, refried beans with rice and pico de gallo that had a slight kick to it. On top of all that, our orders came with a generous stack of tortillas and chips. All that for under $15. Pretty unbelievable value. This was a very hearty set. Paired with coffee, it makes a perfect start to a delightful weekend.

Good fish burrito, with really generous portions of avocado. Very much hit the spot. Seems like the thing to get here is really the various aguachiles and cockles, but those are best shared and I was on my own. Will need to go back with some friends to try the rest.

Went back to this restaurant with a group of friends so we got to try more. I would have never ordered seafood nachos but one guy in our group got them and they were fantastic. Included mangoes, peanuts shrimp and octopus. The Aquacate was like a yellow soupy ceviche and was amazing. The seafood soup was kind of average. We all comments on how the free chips and salsa had the best salsa verde.

4.5 starsHidden in the back of an unimpressive convenience/liquor store is Mariscos y Taqueria Ixpalino Sinaloa, a counter specializing in Sinaloan-style seafood! They may offer the typical tacos, burritos, and grilled meat plates as well, but the thing to focus on here is definitely the seafood! My pick was the Especial Ixpalino, which actually came with three different items: ceviche, aguachiles, and a mixture of cooked shrimp/octopus. My favorites were definitely the ceviche, made of chopped shrimp, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and lime juice, and topped with slices of avocado; as well as the aguachiles, made of marinated raw shrimp topped with sliced red onions! The ceviche had a super refreshing, acidic flavor from the marinade, and I loved the creaminess of the raw shrimp in the aguachiles! On top of the delicious flavors, everything was plated so nicely--all of the seafood selections were surrounded by half-moon slices of cucumber and topped with Tajin seasoning, and all the different colors just popped on the plate! The seafood was served with a stack of tostadas on the side, which added a really nice crunch to every bite. There aren't many places in San Mateo specializing in Sinaloan-style seafood, so this was really a great find and a hidden gem!

I've come here for lunch a few times, and I'll keep coming back. Great carne asada burritos. Their salsa is also really good, not sure if they do extra lime juice or what but great flavor.

I personally have not tried them, but Iam giving them 5 starts bc my husband loves the food here... especially el aguachile. He orders or has me order regularly. He's hard to please when it comes to food so im pretty sure it's good! Ordering by phone is so easy and food is always ready with 10-15 minutes

I give it 4 stars because their prices for tacos are the cheapest I have found in the area and they load it up with plenty of meat. I tried 4 meats (carnitas, chorizo, carne asada, and pastor). Carnitas was a bit too dry for me, not a big fan of the chorizo flavor, carne asada was a good flavor, and pastor was my fave. I loved their green salsa with the chips, mind you the chips are not made in the restaurant and are just from a bag but they go well with the green salsa. Next time I'll try their seafood items!
