Los Portales

Los Portales is a neighborhood restaurant owned by the same family for 30+ years. The food was amazing. Beautifully executed Mexican dishes, full of flavor. We have loved everything we have eaten there so far. The staff are friendly and attentive. If you are interested in supporting family businesses, this is the place to have a lovely lunch or dinner.

We ordered the featured items and they came through. The plate was hot and the cheese melt on the beans got me excited. I knew we were in for something tasty. The mole sauce was complexed but not overdone. The chilli rellenos had us fighting for the last bite. Rice was good, nothing to question and service had the mom and pop feel. Wife had a we're in Mexico feel and we really liked the experience. Only thing was location isn't close to where we go. 100% will be back. Great job!

Authentic Mexican fare. Hideaway place in a strip mall. Walked for a quick lunch and was very impressed. Bright & cozy interior. I wanted to grab some lunch tacos, but couldn't find on the menu. The hostess recommended the Taquitos, mini tacos - Asada, Chorizo & Carnitas - they were absolutely delicious with fresh Salsa toppings. I am going back for the rest of the Menu!Service is very friendly. Family owned, reflects in the food quality. Absolutely recommended.

Earlier this year, our group had assorted take out from Los Portales. They were generous and the make your own tacos were delicious with vegetables, onions, peppers, rice, beans, sour cream, salsa, shrimp and meat. My son and I came by and had Sal's Special and a combination plate. The portions were generous. We met Sara and she recommended her favorite 3 enchiladas comfort meal which is on the menu. Super nice service. Free chips and salsa, of course.Food was very authentic. It tasted like food I have had in Mexico. We don't like super spicy but we needed a little more heat. I added salsa over my combination plate. We asked for Tapatio for Max's. They gave us some spicier salsa with garlic, delish! Refilled sodas! Comfy colorful booths, a few customers on the way out as we came in and in as we came out. This would be a great place for a group luncheon or dinner. Prices are up everywhere. Unfortunately, we have a taqueria right around the corner from us that's more convenient.

I love a genuine Mexican food spot and it's even better when it's family owned. They have their hearts in their work and you can taste the difference

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the San Jose area. I've been coming here for authentic Mexican food for over 25 years! I'm a fan of their enchiladas and carne asada burritos.

Hands down the best spot in the area! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and authentically prepared. On top of that, the service is outstanding--Sal and the entire team are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home.

First off, let me say this place was amazing. Me and my family came here for lunch and I had the enchilada plate with beans and rice. It was so good it tasted like real authentic Mexican food. My wife ordered the Chile relleno and she said it was perfect. They give you chips and salsa while you wait. It has a cool ambience. The staff which I think is family was very attentive and nice. We highly recommend.

I went here with a big group for dinner and had a great time. Service is excellent and the margaritas are great (even the virgin variety). You have a choice of lemon lime or strawberry. I like their chips and the salsa was just spicy enough for a kick but tolerable for people who can't handle spicy. The guacamole was tasty and served in a tostada and I would recommend this as a shared appetizer. The actual entrees are massive portions. You won't leave hungry. I went with the house special burrito with chicken and was happy to make two meals of it. Their burritos are stuffed with your choice of protein, rice, beans, cheese and then smothered in sauce. The entree plates are even bigger with sides of rice and beans. Parking is easy as there's a large shared lot. Overall a great place to meet up for big groups.

Great restaurant ! We had heard good reviews and decided to try them. Best Chimichangas we have had. I had chicken and my husband had pork. Everything was very tasty ! Great service and friendly staff. Our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Go try them out.
