AMAZING, DELICIOUS, AUTHENTICthis restaurant is the definition of a hidden gem. Knew it was a good restaurant when our friends said that they dined here weekly (and they're from cheng du so they know what's up)Super clean and stylish restaurant space with prompt service, which complimented the incredible food.We got three dishes, but their fried coated tofu was mouthwateringly delicious. Each bit gave a crisp texture that collapsed into a juicy savory center that oozed into a beautifully umami sauce. The outside was seasoned too for exploding flavor every single bite. Get it for sure (包浆豆腐). I did not exaggerate how good it was.I honestly think their hot bowls could be better seasoning wise but I'm not complaining with the amount of portions they served up. Honestly kind of hard to find a place with such a friendly price. Very reasonable indeed.Overall this restaurant is epic. We're going to be regulars from now on.

Okay so good but also you must like cumin in order to dine here. I was craving dry pot and not many places do it but local Chengdu has a menu for designated dry pot. We ordered ours vegetarian with rice (comes with veggies, potato, tofu skin). I wish I could customize my pot with more options but this is what they had.We got it quick and it was good but it had a very strong cumin flavor. Luckily I like cumin but to those who don't maybe try ordering something else. Good spot for local sichuan cuisine.

As we walked to the front door of the restaurant, we bumped into a young woman who had been smoking in front. It turns out she is one of the people who works there. As we were eating our dinner she kept going out front to smoke and then coming back inside to work. That was very tacky. If you have to smoke at least go out the back. The food was quite good, and the ingredients were high-quality, but the service was abominable. A teenager was at the register with his face in his phone. Everything we needed we had to get up and ask him for. He was really clueless and not interested in working in what appeared to be his family's restaurant. I appreciated how hard the older adults were working to make this family business succeed. But the youngsters just don't have it together.

Service: fast ordering and fast food prep!Food:Good chengdu soups and food, I wish there was a bit more clarity on the menu but there are plenty of options! We usually get the fish soup or beef soup :) both good options and you can make it spicier,.. if you dare. Their takeout seems to also be very consistent in packaging! Ambiance: Casual eats spots.

You're Sichuan in a Million***HIDDEN GEM ALERT***One of the few legit, mom-and-pop run Sichuan Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area, and the flavors they're producing are fantastic. For the uninitiated, Sichuan is (obviously) a style of Chinese cuisine that relies heavily on their eponymous Szichuan peppercorns which have a unique mouth and tongue numbing sensation. The Good:*QR Code ordering but you have to pay at the counter*Friendly service*Décor and interior are a bit spartan, but it's clean and sanitary.*Large shared parking lot*Great prices as for well less than $100 we got enough food for about 4-5 meals. *Chicken Fried Noodles were superb, with the noodles being the standout part of that dish. We're not sure if they were housemade or just very high-quality noods, but regardless the taste and texture was superb. *Beef Slices Hot Bowl w/ the special dry mix was massive and filled with tons of goodies. The spice level was just right and had a nice amount of the mouth-tingling sensation to remind one what Szichuan flavors are all about. *Eggplant w/ Garlic Sauce too was a well-balanced spicy and sweet dish, with perfectly cooked eggplant--which is one of my favorite vegetables (technically a fruit but whatever). The Meh:*Pork potstickers had a decent flavor but are really dry. Some XO sauce or something would've gone a long way to bolster them up. Fortunately, there was enough sauce on the aforementioned eggplants that we used that. *No outdoor seatingThe Ugly:*Nothing comes to mind except if the Costco does end up in this shopping center then the parking situation could start to look a lot like Almaden Plaza. Conclusion: Run don't walk to try this place out. The flavors are fantastic and the prices are very fair. What more does one need?? Highly recommended.

Loved this place! It's a casual spot where you can order from your phone using the QR code on the table. The food came out pretty quickly which was good because we were starving! The type of food was something new for us--at least the Dry Mix Hot Pot. And it was outstanding. The spices in there makes you want to keep eating. All of the food we tried had great quality and flavor. I loved the fried noodle dish. I wish they served a sauce with the pot stickers but I ended up dipping them in the garlic sauce that came with the eggplant. We will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Local Chengdu is a gem for those who crave authentic Sichuan cuisine. The food is the highlight here, and it certainly lives up to expectations.Quail Eggs in Chili Oil: The quail eggs were a delightful start to the meal. Perfectly cooked, they were bathed in a rich, spicy chili oil that was full of flavor. The fresh cilantro garnish added a refreshing contrast, making this dish a must-try for spice lovers.Popcorn Chicken with Basil and Scallion: Crispy and well-seasoned, the popcorn chicken was another crowd-pleaser. The basil brought a fragrant note, while the scallions added a sharpness that balanced the dish nicely. These bite-sized pieces are perfect for sharing, though you might want to keep them all to yourself!Intestines with Green Peppers: This dish was a bold and flavorful experience. The intestines were tender and cooked to perfection, paired with crisp green peppers that added a fresh crunch. The savory and spicy sauce tied everything together, making it a standout on the menu.Mango and Red Bean Shaved Ice: To finish off the meal, the mango and red bean shaved ice was a refreshing and satisfying dessert. The sweet mango, creamy condensed milk, and red beans created a perfect harmony of textures and flavors.Parking & Service: Parking is easy, which is always a plus. The service operates through a QR code for placing orders, making it quick and convenient. It seems like the chef is managing both the front and back of the kitchen, ensuring that the food comes out quickly. For a faster payment process, bring your check to the front.Overall, Local Chengdu is all about the food. If you're here for a genuine Sichuan dining experience with quick service, this place is definitely worth a visit.

This restaurant can seem a bit unassuming, but it is a hidden gem of good food for decent value. First of all, ordering is done through QR code on the table, but my one gripe was that some of the item listings don't give enough details about what's included. Regardless, the server was very friendly, adding a smile to every interaction. The paper menu had a lot of detail into each order. The hot pots come as individual or 2-person combos. For less than 20 dollars per person, the hot pot combo is so worth it, especially for 2 people. Keep in mind that the 2-person combo requires that both people get the same soup base even though the 2-person combo comes with 2 pots, 2 bowls, and 2 drinks.Inside the hot pot is a large variety of hot pot ingredients. There was a good mix of vegetables, meat items, and others. The beef was also plentiful as well as juicy. Overall, service and value was exceptional here. I would gladly be a regular!

This is my new favorite Chengdu restaurant! There's plenty of restaurants now in the Bay that serve the spicy soup/dry mix of ingredients that's popular in Chengdu region but many of them are chains and their spice mix is too salty and not balanced enough for me. Too much of Chinese red pepper (Hua jiao) flavor which can be bitter when not in balance with other spices imo. A few of those places are also too oily for my taste. What I love about Local Chengdu is that because it's a mom and pop and the cooking is more intentional and more delicious. Everything tastes different and has their own flavors vs many of the skewer/soup places now where everything taste the same regardless of the ingredients (ahem four sisters for instance).Everything is delicious and also the price for the portions is super generous. There's so much beef and other thing in the dry mix pot (a must get imo)There bentos are also stellar, only 15 for lunch but comes with generous portions of 3 different stir fries that all taste different. This is now my go-to when I want a good Chinese meal that feels like my mom cooked it.Highly recommended!!

Got takeout from here. I got the dry pot pork intestines and salt & pepper fish. The food was delicious and the ingredients tasted fresh! The price and portion was also very reasonable. I hope to be back to try their other dishes.
