In a small plaza, this shop is very visible at the corner with big signs. But the shop itself is very small, and it's take out only with no place to sit and eat. They offer 4 kinds of rice roll, plain, with onion, with meat, or with dried shrimp (you can't see the shrimp in its original forms, only like floss or grinds of orange thingy). The meat one was $7 per pound and I think the shrimp was like a dollar more expensive. You order, and the lady went to the back kitchen, took some out and weighted it for you. The weight would be a bit off from what you order, for example, mine was not 1 pound, it was 1.15 pounds. The rice roll is not the same as the dim sum rice rolls, these are made much thinner, usually it's made by steaming a piece of cloth and then layer a thin layer of rice paste on top to get that texture and thinness. Ground meat can be sprinkled inside. It's soft and fresh, love the texture! They always give you a bowl of fish sauce for the noodles, but you don't need that much fish sauce to add flavor. The southern side of Guangdong province in China also has this, too bad it's not available anywhere, so I had to substitute with the Vietnamese kind when I have a craving. It's a cash only business. They speak English and Vietnamese. If you need to use the restroom, they have a shared one in the plaza but you need to ask them for the key. They also have some other Vietnamese food for sale. We tried one roll that looks yellow, the staff said it's meat. When we warmed it up in Microwave and sliced it, it is indeed meat with a very thin layer of yellow skin which I think is fried color change, anyhow, the meat is like pork and tasted good. The texture is soft, like it's mixed with water and not sure of what else, but easy to eat and doesn't have the normal meat chewy texture. It's husband's favorite dish.

The good:Banh cuon's one of my favorite Vietnamese foods ever. This is the best banh cuon I've had in San Jose! It is so soft, thin, tender and delicious. This is a place you'd pick up banh cuon so you can assemble it yourself at home (as opposed to a prepared plate with the meat and vegetables). So, it is a take out place for you to get the noodle as opposed to a restaurant where you eat it right away. You could really taste the freshness! You order by the weight and bring it home and cut it.The bad:Cash only. The interesting:Banh cuon tastes best when eaten immediately. It'll dry up and firm up if you refrigerate it and eat it the next day.

This is a great place to pick up premade banh cuon/banh uot. They have lots of options like plain, ground dried shrimp, meat filling, and fried shallot. All the options are super tasty depending on what you are in the mood for. Please be aware this is not a Banh Cuon restaurant, where you can order banh cuon and have it topped with all the fixin's . This place is meant to order for to-go and you go home and do your own banh cuon. I love stopping by to pick up a few pounds of banh cuon, then stopping by local grocery store to getting my favorite veggies, herbs, and cha lua, and come home and set up DIY banh cuon with my family for breakfast/brunch.

4.5 stars overall but rounding up. CASH or VENMO only! Lo Banh Cuon Thanh Tri is a hole in the wall spot where you can order different types of bánh cuốn by the pound. They're sold as long noodle rolls, and not cut nicely in pre-made packages with bean sprouts and herbs. Since I came during Lunar New Year, I made sure to stop by as early as possible to avoid the lines. It wasn't busy yet at 9am on a Sunday, but customers were steadily coming in and out, and there was a short line by the time I left. Unfortunately, their chả lụa wasn't ready for another hour or so. I ended up trying: [https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5LPzZQn2RSO0GDJF7_wkOQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg]-Plain ($4.50/lb): I loved how thin and soft the noodle was, but I needed something else to eat this with (such as chả lụa!).-Green Onion ($5.00/lb): This and the pork version were my favorites, and I liked the flavor the green onion added- recommended!-Pork ($5.50/lb): I really liked the flavor the pork added to the rice noodle- recommended!-Shrimp ($5.50/lb): A little too shrimp-y smelling/tasting for my preference. My family liked this, but I wouldn't order it again.-Fried Onions ($5): DELICIOUS- the onions were fried perfectly, and added a lot of flavor to the bánh cuốn. Highly recommended! The bánh cuốn comes with nước chấm, and the flavor was perfect- not too salty or sweet. I purchased bean sprouts and herbs separately, and it was perfect with the bánh cuốn. I'll be back in the future and hope to try their chả lụa. No seating is available indoor or outdoors. All staff were wearing masks properly at the time and they had hand sanitizer. Parking in this lot was fine in the morning, but it has a limited number of spots.

Tried to impersonate another business with a similar name to reel in their customers and the one who does this when people call just acts all desperate and aggressive to hook people and that's just wrong.

I tried this place because some of the reviews said "the best in San Jose". I got the plain rice noodles, it's soft and fresh and kinda chewy (not easy to break), it's $6/lb. But I had better rice noodles so 4 stars.

Tip: pull out at least $50 or have your Venmo handy (yes, they do accept it). Get here early because there is usually a line. It doesn't matter if you don't see the banh cuon in the display because they are being made fresh in the back. they sell by the pound. I believe the shrimp one is the priciest out of the selections: plan, onions, pork, and shrimp. I think each order comes w/ nuoc mam because I don't remember being charged for it. They do sell cha lua here, too so you can grab everything to assemble a filling and delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Do not expect the lines to move fast. It will depend on the person ordering. Unclear on the reviews about the price. I just bought Gavin a package of Oreos from Lucky's for $6.99. The price of goods and logistics, the entire supply chain has increased due to COVID-19. The banh cuon may be cheap to make but laborious. I would gladly pay to enjoy a meal I don't have to lift a muscle. I wasn't able to take a picture because my familia freakin' ate it all.Come by and support a small business!

Banh cuon by the pound? What a deal. I ordered half meat filling and half shrimp filling. The shrimp filling uses the same dried shrimp topping as banh beo and was the best! The meat wasn't as good in comparison. Pros: The rice paper is thin! Great price. Cons: The ratio is off and there's just too much rice paper to little filling. The fish sauce is also much too sweet. COVID response: you can walk inside the small store and order in front of a counter covered with a large plastic barrier. Glad they put that up! However, the store is very small and a line can quickly form and create a crowded indoor environment. I would definitely come back and purchase more shrimp banh cuon and consider another order of meat banh cuon if they fix their rice:filling ratio.
