Delicious food and good service. We came in at 12:30 on a Saturday (with a reservation) and waited for 10 min. Ordered la gran bandeja cebichera (Cebiche Clasico, Tiradito Laqueado, Causa de California, Nigiri Anticuchero, jumbo prawns, hamachi sashimi)It was perfect portion for 2 people. The taro chips were also fresh and not greasy. Everything in la gran bandeja cebichera was fresh, delicious, and flavorful. Would definitely come back!

Came to La Mar for my bestie's birthday and it did not disappoint! We're just sad we weren't that hungry because we weren't able to try much!We ordered shots and a set that was $119 which was very worth it in my opinion if you like to try a variety of things and don't have the appetite to order the full portions of them all! They served us taro chips after we ordered and it paired well with the sauce and the ceviche that came with our platter. Our total after tax and tip came out to a little bit less than $200 which is kinda pricey but the ambiance, vibe, service, and freshness of the seafood made it absolutely worth it!

Overpriced but food and vibe was pretty good. Their portions are not too big. The bill after SF Mandate and tip was $480 for 4 dishes: crab ceviche, while fish covered in chili sauce, fried calamari, and beef tenderloin. No alcohol and still cane out pretty pricey. Some workers were extremely nice, and some workers were extremely not nice lolIt's at an amazing location next to the ferry building by the water so it is a nice spot to stop by if you don't have any other options but I personally don't think i will go back here.

Great food but I'm knocking down 1 star for the below average customer service. We did not feel welcomed or seen at all. We saw staff walk right past us and check on other guests, but not us, among other things. The complimentary taro chips and dip were perfect and the chips paired so well with the cebiche we ordered. It was also surprisingly a very generous portion. The Nikkei cebiche, lomo saltado, and chaufa aeropuerto were all amazing, good portions and with lots of flavor. The golden inca cocktail was delicious and refreshing.I won't be returning but I'm glad we stopped in. It was my first time having Peruvian food and it did not disappoint.

La Mar is an excellent example of a fine restaurant with good food, good service, good views! We were taken to sit outside in the covered patio overlooking the pier. Our server was very friendly, humorous, and recommended some great dishes for all of us despite various food preferences of no seafood, no raw, no dairy. We started with the empanada tasting of 4 empanadas (beef, chicken, corn, mushroom). Highly recommend! We also ordered the fried calamari & squid with dip. Complimentary taro chips. Save your appetite for the dishes! We ordered the salmon Nikkei, Arroz con Mariscos, Churrascos de Pescado (Alaskan halibut) and Lomo Saltado with beef. Large portions, fresh seafood. The best was the dessert! Our server recommended the Cacao y Lucuma which is served on a cacao pod from Peru. It has the fruit Lucuma with ice cream. Very filling and perfect for sharing. Highly recommend La Mar for flavorful food and a good time!

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner, and it was a truly special experience! I specifically chose this restaurant because we had visited its location in Lima, Peru, making it a memorable place for us.I reserved an outdoor patio table for the water view, despite the concern that it would be cold; however, the patio was covered and heated! The seating was also nicely spaced out, so we did not feel crammed. Here is our order:CocktailsRosita Fresita & Golden Inca: Both were delicious! If you're a fan of chili mango, I highly recommend trying the Golden Inca.FoodLeche de Tigre Ceviche: Tangy, fresh, and a great way to start the meal.California Causa: If you've never tried causa before, this is your sign! It's a layered mashed potato dish, and this version features mashed purple potatoes topped with Dungeness crab, avocado, quail egg, and a creamy aji amarillo sauce. Visually stunning and absolutely delicious.Beef Lomo Saltado: This is our go-to Peruvian dish, and it did not disappoint. They offer several variations (veggie, pescado, chicken, beef) to accommodate different preferences and dietary needs.Yuca Frita: Amazing side dish served with huancaina sauce.DesertChoco-Maracuya: My boyfriend ordered this, and I had a bite--it was absolutely delicious! The passion fruit and berry flavors kept it from feeling too heavy.Seasonal Fruit Sorbet: Exactly what I needed to refresh my palate. It came with three flavors, and I was especially excited that lucuma was one of them!Tres Leches: I mentioned in my reservation that we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, and they thoughtfully brought this to our table with a candle. It was amazing. The service was excellent from start to finish. While the price is definitely on the higher side, the experience was well worth it. I would absolutely return for another special occasion!

First, I can't believe I didn't write a review sooner since I dined here in October 2023 and second I can't believe that their average rating has fallen to below 4. Granted this may be considered a 'tourist trap', based on location and service or food may have fallen in quality in the last 15 months, but my dining experience was 5 star. It was a beautiful fall evening in SF and my buddy and I sat outside. I had one of the best Old Fashions I've had, and not just because it had a corn kernel served with it but also because of its unique smoky flavor, served with the smoke in and cover on. I had to get a second drink just because how good and unique it was. The ceviche was fresh and tasty as was the halibut collar. Great flavor all around. I would totally return even though there are so many other great restaurants in SF to try

Another Peruvian spot added to the list. Definitely a place to come to for a special occasion or fancy dinner. First impressions is that their menu feels massive. We decided to order a la carte and it was more than enough food. 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Everything was tasty, the California ceviche, the empanada tasting platter, lomo saltado, and seafood pasta dish. All rich in flavor with beautiful presentations! Our servers were also very kind and attentive always making sure our water glasses were full or to provide us with clean plates.A very nice fine dining experience to have that's right along the water.

I made a quick stop here to try to get a gift for my wife. I ate at the bar area without a reservation. It was slightly loud with conversations and had a nice vibe to it. I had a chicha sour (my favorite drink) and beef empanadas. You cannot go wrong at this place. Top quality and served with yucca chips. One of my favorite restaurants

A must try. One of our favorite spots. The ceviche's are all delicious - you really can't go wrong. The octopus is fantastic. Daniel is a great server as well! We will be back soon!
