I came with my team for lunch and had a great time! There were other large parties around us and the decor was nice inside. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We also had some samosas which were delicious, and the chutney they serve has quite some heat to it! Mango Lassi - thick and delicious! It was one of the better mango lassi's I've had and I thoroughly enjoyed the strong mango taste along with the tangy yogurt. It wasn't too sweet.Combination Kabob (lamb and chicken) - the kabobs were juicy and tender. The lamb was pink inside and not gamey at all. Chicken was moist and the char was perfect. For dessert, we had baklava and the rosewater ice cream. Baklava was delicious and flaky, the ice cream had a nice floral (rose) taste to it and wasn't too overpowering. There's limited street parking but plenty of parking garages around Sunnyvale downtown.

So disappointing. i have been going to Kabul for several years back to when they were at the old location. i haven't been there in over a year so i was excited to go because it was always a great experience. to start, they no long include the salad that used to come with the meal. it sucks when something is subtracted that previously was always included; it stinks of greed. I got the veggie platter which is an old favorite of mine. But i noticed right away that it is flavored differently. what used to be easy on the pallet now has a sledge hammer of spiky flavors. i don't know what the names of the spices that were so overwhelming, but they were way out of balance. i ate it but did not enjoy it. I don't particularly like spinach in general, but the old Kabul made me a fan of this spinach dish. it didn't even taste like spinach and it was simply delicious. But no longer. The dish distinctly had that gross spinach flavor and none of the smooth deliciousness it had in the past. The cauliflower dish had some spice in the tomato based sauce that i'm not familiar with and did not enjoy - very over powering. also, the rice was dry. i didn't have any bread so i can't comment on that. my partner got a lamb and eggplant dish. she said the eggplant favoring was also out of balance and tasted heavily of vinegar. i asked the waiter if they had a new chef and he nervously said yes. i did not complain because i thought that maybe it was just different now and did not suit my pallet - to each his own. however, after sleeping on it i have concluded that Kabul has simply dropped in quality. this is sad because my partner and i loved the food made with the old recipes. we won't be going back.i hope they get ride of whoever made these changes and bring back the old ways.

Kabul Afghan Cuisine in Sunnyvale delivers a delightful dining experience with authentic Afghan flavors. The standout of my meal was undoubtedly the lamb chops, which were tender, flavorful, decently seasoned and cooked to my exact liking--a true highlight! It came on a large skewer (biggest serving I've had of lamb chops for sure). The entire meal was so much food I love it!! The lamb was not the best I ever had and the green spicy sauce really helped with the flavors, but still was very tasty. I put that green sauce on everything, very spicy However, the rice and bread fell a bit short for *me*. While the rice was cooked well, it lacked the depth of flavor I hoped for, and the bread was not as flavorful as I expected. The appetizers were delicious. The fried potatoes draped in creamy sauce was indulgent and satisfying, and the mango lassi was a refreshing complement to the meal. Overall, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere inviting. It's a solid 4/5 for me--worth visiting, especially for the lamb and appetizers!

It has been many many years since we have last been to one of the Kabul restaurants and it was fun to try it again. The restaurant was not crowded, although it's large enough to handle many people and parties. We started with the mantu appetizer, but that was disappointing because the dumplings were so buried in sauce. The lamb and salmon mixed kebabs were fabulous, primarily due to the fact that the salmon was so good. Excellent flavor. The lamb was good, but not as tender as I expected it to be. We also had the lamb kabobs (more tender than on my combination plate) and the chicken kabobs which were good. The seasoned rice is very tasty, but we ordered the charbroiled veggies and found them to be incredibly oily. The baklava was good, but the firnee, which is a milk pudding, was disappointing only because we anticipated more of a rice pudding and that's not what this is. Our bad.

Amazing food. The samosas, the green sauce they come with, the mantu, the chicken kebab, and heck even the green salad are all amazing -- as were the pilau and the bread. I have no idea how legit Afghanistan cuisine it is, but wow is it good -- and it holds up well to DoorDash delivery as well

I've been wanting to eat at Kabul for the longest time and finally got to tonight and was totally happy! It's been a couple of years since I last had Kabul, pre covid. We used to come for lunch as it's near the office. Post covid they are only open for dinner which is out of my way. We ordered the combo skewer beef and chicken and the chef sampler platter(appetizer) which we had as entree. When the food came out the server was nice enough to split the entree for us already. We mentioned we were going to share and wasn't expecting the kitchen to already split the dish for us. Well as usual the food was amazing just how I remembered it. The chicken was so moist and well seasoned and cook to perfection. The beef we got medium and was just as good. The chef platter was also all wonderful. Even though we shared we still had plenty to take home. The place is still nice and elegant. I wish they would open for lunch again so I can go more often. 5 star for me! Ive tried few other dishes in the past and all were good.

We have a group of 9 people. Everyone love their appetizer platter and kabobs with rice plate. Vegetarian is a bit boring in my opinion. Service is good. Food comes fast and hot. Meat is a bit dry. Parking is hard to find if you don't know this area.Overall wine was good so we were all having a great time.

The atmosphere and setting of the restaurant is great. I remember this restaurant when it was on El Camino years and years ago, way before covid. Now the restaurant is more upscale and lots more space and room. The food still tastes delicious, the only change is the price has gone up. I always get the lamb dish on the skewer. When I am craving for Afghan foods in Sunnyvale, this is the place I go.

0 stars - never coming back ever again I was here for Sunday night dinner. I got food poisoning and still suffering now. My friend also didn't feel so well after our dinner. Must've been from the yogurt from both appetizer/side dish (eggplant & pumpkin) I was very disappointed by the food from Kabul. The rice wasn't flavorful and the bread tasted like cardboard.
