Jade Tea Garden might be our new go-to dim sum place & Cantonese restaurant in Cupertino. This used to be "Joy" restaurant. We might start coming here vs. Dynasty down the street. The space is not as grand, but food is better and hotter. Food is always delicious here. They only have dim sum at lunch time, which was great. You order dim-sum off menus as they don't have carts going around. The space is tighter, compared to Dynasty. Solid dim-sum and always piping hot straight from the kitchen. Services can be spotty, especially if you don't speak Cantonese. But "Rocky" and "Alex" are super busboys. They're are so friendly and efficient.

We ordered dinner for pickup from their website. The food was ok. Not bad not great. I'd give the food 3 stars. However it was the service that was ridiculous. Among other things we ordered was the seafood pan fried noodles. They forgot to give us the sauce and seafood and we didn't find out until we got home. So I called the restaurant hoping for a partial or full refund of the item. The lady that picked up the phone, Melody, tried to help us but she didn't have the authority to grant us the refund. She admitted they forgot to give us the seafood and sauce. So she talked to someone that had authority. I explained we lived 30 minutes away so was not going to drive back 30 minutes to grab the seafood and sauce they forgot to pack. Her manager was a man who I didn't not speak to but heard over the phone. He said in Cantonese to her "Just tell them to come back, we will make you a new one". Again I explained I'm not driving back 30 minutes but the man kept yelling to Melody that same message. This repeated at least 3 more times. I'm writing this review to say that service from that Cantonese speaking man / manager was terrible. I don't know his name but had a terrible experience. At the end I called the company that took payment on the website and they refunded me but very unhappy about the customer service at the restaurant as they not only didn't apologize but insisted I go back to pickup the missing food.

I've been to this restaurant quite a few times over the years- when it was Joy Luck Palace, Dynasty Restaurant temporarily, and now. They've done a lot of improvements to the decor and ambiance of the restaurant, it feels very modern and upscale now. The service was also a lot better than previously, though that may be because I went at an off, less busy hour (2pm ish on a Saturday).I had the baked BBQ pork bun, shrimp rice roll, seafood pan fried rice noodle, egg yolk buns, sui mai, and pork ribs. The pork ribs were a little too fatty for my taste, and I wish that the buns had come out a little warmer/fresher tasting, but I was satisfied with the taste and quality of the food otherwise. This was my first time having pan fried rice noodles like this, and I loved having the mix of crispy and non crispy noodles as well as the generous portion of seafood and veggies!

Overall the food was just ok. We liked the congee, beef chow fun, pork ribs, chicken feet and beef tripes. The egg tarts were not great. The shell was too dry and bland. Very reasonable pricing though.

We came here for dim sum. The dishes we ordered were good but service is subpar even for Chinese restaurants. Everyone seems to be running around. There is no order. No one seems to be responsible for any section or table. I tried to wave down wait staff but most just ignored me. I finally put my hand up and finally the owner came by. Plus they added 18% automatic tip for 6 people. Service is 2 stars. Food is 4 stars:- mushrooms with lily bulbs 4/5- purple yam buns 5/5- green beans 5/5- daikon taro cake 5/5- shrimp dumpling 4/5- shrimp chives rice noodle 4/5- poached chicken 2/5 (seemed to left over from day before)- pork belly with crispy skin 4/5 (mixed reviews)- fried fish 4/5- stir fried noodles 4/5- fried taro pork 4/5Decor is nice but tables are so close to each other that I couldn't get through one area. It's best to sit on the edge or wait staff can't get to you. It's ridiculous. I was annoyed but my family said they like the food. Maybe I'll give them another chance and hope they improve their service.

Came through during the soft opening for Jade Tea Garden on a Saturday morning to give this place a try. I was expecting to wait but we got seated right away and saw how big the dining area actually was.I ordered my usual go to dim sum foods: siu mai, har gow, deep fried bean curd roll with shrimp, poached tripe, and shrimp rice noodle roll. I felt like it was pretty standard tasting with the exception of the poached tripe sauce being extra tasty. There's no soy sauce or chili paste at the table but you can request this from a server. It took a bit of time for our orders to arrive (possibly due to staff getting trained up) but the wait is manageable.

3.5 stars for the new Jade Tea Garden. Jade Tea Garden is in the spot where Joy Luck Palace used to be by 99 Ranch on Wolfe. We were so excited to learn a new dim sum place opened up there, as that was our favorite go-to for dim sum and Chinese banquets until it closed. The vibe is very different! The whole wall by the back dining room is covered with huge TVs. We liked the pretty glass floral decorations on the half of the ceiling. They reminded us of Mandalay Bay in Vegas, but it was odd that they only covered the front half of the restaurant. We had to ask for tea, water, & dipping sauces multiple times. They brought us soy sauce, chili oil, and yellow mustard. For dim sum at the new Jade Tea Garden, you make your selections on the menu and then give it to a waiter to submit to the kitchen. We asked a waiter to add an order of sauteed pea leaves w/garlic sauce, as we didn't see that on the menu. She repeated back what we requested, but it never came. We ended up asking someone else to order that for us as well as getting one of our dim sum items that never arrived. We tried a variety of items including fried bean curd roll, sui mai, XLB, salt & pepper wings, gai lan, char sui Cheung fun, and beef chow fun. We also tried their shrimp & corn dumpling, which turned out to be a har gow w/corn. The other item we hadn't seen elsewhere was hom sir gok in the shape of little chicks. Hom sir gok are one of our favorites but these had very little filling. The food was okay and we had to hunt down people to get tea, water, sauces, and the bill. None of us need to rush back, and we will continue to look for our new favorite dim sum place in the south bay.

*Visited on Sunday, 10/13/2024 around 11am with a party of 7 :-) Came here as I have been wanting dimsum for awhile and my cousin in law had recommended as she had recently visited. The restaurant has two entrances, their main one in the front and their back entrance- it also seems that the restaurant in split into two sections. The restaurant is quite large, and plenty of staff members here. We were seated and given a menu where we were able to write in how many orders of items - the usual routine for a dimsum restaurant. The food was tasty and good. We all enjoyed our food and was able to try a little bit of something from each section (perks of going with a large group). I felt like this experience was just another typical dim sum spot- granted it's more modern looking and food came out swiftly. I'd definitely give this spot a try!

TLDR: Worth a try. Beef cube w/ Egg Tofu.If you have been a long-time visitor of Cupertino Square, you'll know this place used to be the Joy Luck. We asked our friendly waitress, and she mentioned that this is a completely new owner (not just a re-skin), who has made their money from selling restaurant POS. She wasn't sure if they are first-time restauranteurs, but they are more likely to be.Anyhow, the first thing you notice is how pretty the décor is. Very modern, with the lights and the ceiling and everything. A FAR CRY from Joy Luck, who had that 90's chic, but not retro in a golden memory kinda way. We came during their soft opening, which if you are an expert on Chinese Restaurants, can last anywhere from 1 month to 2 years. When we came, it was a bit crowded, but not TOO crowded. And despite that, we were able to order quickly and get our food as well. So the soft-opening jitters didn't seem to affect this place. Great! My wife was a little bit disappointed in the soup selection. She couldn't find those traditional Hong Kong soups that she loves so much. Instead, she got the Westernized "Chicken and Corn soup". I liked it! Which makes sense, since i'm also a Westernized Chinese... She said it wasn't bad. So that's HK way of saying, "pretty good!" Even though I can't really eat beef, my eyes lit up when i saw Egg Tofu. I LOVE egg TOFU! So I wanted to try the beef cubes with Egg Tofu. Oh man... there's SO MUCH egg tofu! I was in Egg Tofu heaven! Keep in mind, egg tofu is NOT soy-based, and that's what makes it great. It's like eating delicious flavorful tofu!We always have to have veggies, so my wife chose the Fish Maw & Goji Berry w/ Pea Sprouts. She liked the flavor. However, she felt like the sprouts weren't cleaned very well. She should know, she is the VEGGIE Whisperer! The flavor was a little too light for me, but perfect for her, if you wipe away the black stuff sticking on the veggies.I think overall, we enjoyed the meal. The only outstanding dish was the beef w/ egg tofu, which unfortunately, due to my gout, I'm unable to eat much of. However, the taste is good enough to warrant a second visit. I'll see how long they can maintain the quality of cooking.
