We are members at J.Lohr in Paso Robles and had been wanting to stop by the San Jose location. It was neat to see from the tasting room the bottling of the J. Lohr bottles and tasting the same amazing wines they offer.Gesture Mourvedre and Gesture Syrah being some of our favorites today. Richard our host made our experience a fun one! We love J. Lohr!

Had a fantastic wine tasting experience here on a Saturday afternoon with a date. The interior is cozy and they had live music playing while we were there. The menu has a good variety, and it's also a very affordable tasting! We got a charcuterie board, their famous olives (which our server hyped up), and a flight of wine. The charcuterie board was definitely a grazing plate; don't come here super hungry. I loved the fig spread and my date particularly liked the manchego cheese. As for the olives, I am a big olive fan, and our server was swearing up and down convincing us to get it. There were three or four types of olives. There were these enormous green ones which our server said that was like "the steak of olives." they were covered in delicious olive oil and had the smell of rosemary. It was the perfect munching snack! Paired perfectly with our wine. The wines were good! Our sommelier did a great job describing them to us, and elaborated upon which were her favorites. I am a fan of their reds. Overall this was a nice experience to spend our afternoon. I'd recommend J Lohr!

Today's start is the seasonal wine tasting. I was so excited to get to come here. We tried before Covid, and they were booked. Got here just before 1500 on a Wednesday. We were greeted and bellied up. The seasonal includes many winery exclusive offers. So many bottles in here that you won't see in the store. What are you doing to me?!? What I love about J Lohr, is they do everything well. I just don't think they'll put it out of its not good. The F&G Sauvignon blanc Had grapefruit as a main flavor. Not was so good. Usually I feel like it ends twangy. But this was great! They do offer a few bites! And they were good. We got the cheese plate. One from Spain. One from France and one from ? Also one was goat cheese, one was cow cheese and one was sheep cheese. They own over 4,000 acres of JLohr and then other growers that they manage. They even offer military discounts. Support those that support the troops. And if you buy two bottles your tasting is free.

Stopped here on our drive to NorCal and it was the perfect most relaxing little break. We opted for a table outside and was seated underneath the trees and it was just perfect. The wine flight and cheese board didn't disappoint. Highly recommend!

Cute little tasting room! I've always been a fan of J Lohr wine so when one of my gfs mentioned wine tasting here I immediately said yes! My friend made reservations online and pre-ordered our cheese platter. Upon arriving we were greeted with an awesome live music and since we've made reservations they saved us a spot in the main with the band. However, we opted for the small room in the back so we can catchup without distracting people around us who was there to listen to live music. Both my friend and I ordered the seasonal wine and we both loved it. The sauvignon blanc and the petite sirah were amazing! The cheese platter had a good variety of quality cheese. And the service was phenomenal! 10/10 for the service! Overall, we both had a great time and will return in the future.

Good selection of wine. We went for the standard wine tasting, and the lady is nice enough to offer us their special. It is pretty packed for a Saturday afternoon, I recommend a reservation before going.

Came here with friends during "Second Saturday on the The Alameda" this past weekend, where we were able to try a wonderful range of wines from the Winter Seasonal Wine Tasting menu (6 total, one of which was extra, not listed on the menu). Overall, we liked a lot of the wines we tried, the J. Lohr Gesture Mourvedre particularly stood out. And the staff offered free brownie bites to go along with our tasting (or perhaps part of the Second Saturday event). Either way, the service was excellent during our entire time at the venue. It was a fun experience, since my friends and I got to share great conversation while enjoying the musical talents of The Complements between 6-8pm, who performed duets of a lot of great songs I love including Livin on a Prayer, Dancing in the Moonlight, Disney classics like A Whole New World and Colors of the Wind, and even some Alicia Keys hits. Greg was awesome on the keyboard and guitar, and the duo (Greg and Aleesha) had really beautiful harmony and just charmed the audience with their vocals, creating a casual laid back atmosphere that I could appreciate. They even took song requests!Worth noting is that the outside of the venue is more alluring than the interior. I sent photos of my experience to two different people while I was there, and one thought it was a hospital waiting room, the other said it looked like a church community center of some sort, lol. Let's just say the setting is very oak-centric and very simple... but I guess that will allow you to focus more on the wine! Anyway, I love that they do special events, like "Wine & Chocolate" and "La Fenice Wood-Fired Pizza". And one of the workers informed us that "Second Saturday on The Alameda" will be a regular monthly event for J. Lohr (no reservation required)! Anything with live music is cool in my book :)

Super cute tasting room with delicious wines and standup service! I'm a big fan of J Lohr wines and have been to their winery in Paso Robles, so I knew that I would enjoy myself here. This J Lohr tasting room is located right outside of The Alameda. I stopped by without a reservation and they were able to seat me right away. They were only offering outdoor tastings but their converted patio space was very charming. It looks like they converted their parking area into an outdoor patio. Not sure if this will be permanent, but it felt very safe. It was a bit chilly out but the sun was shining. They have blankets that you can bundle up with to keep you warm. Richard was my host and he was really knowledgeable and fun. I opted for their current release tasting which is $20 for 5 pours of their latest selections. I love that they showcase their small production wines. You won't be able to find these wines outside of the tasting room which makes their tasting experience extra special. Some of the wines that I tried had less than 10 barrels of wine produced. Talk about small batches! Speaking of their wines; they're quite incredible. Not one bad wine on their list. I'm a sucker for their red wines (especially their Pinot Noir), but I was really impressed with their light and refreshing Pinot Blanc. It's a beautiful summer sipper indeed. Pinot wasn't on the tasting menu this go-round, but Richard was sweet enough to let me try their latest vintage. The Cab Franc really and Cab Sauv really stood out to me the most. I love how smooth and balanced their reds are. Even their Cab is smooth and I absolutely adore a smooth drinking Cab when I can find one. Their wines are simply hittin'. Richard checked in on me and made me feel comfortable during my time there. It was nice to learn that J Lohr is still a family owned and operated production and that the family is still very much involved in all aspects of the winery. Not that I have anything against massed produced wines and commercialized wineries, but family owned wineries have always been my favorite to frequent and support (especially during these hard times of the pandemic). One thing note is that there are beautiful trees nearby the premises. If you're an allergy sufferer like myself, it's probably best that you not sit near the trees (my allergies were having a field day, which in no way was the fault of the winery of course). I came earlier in the day and there weren't many people there, but lots of parties started to arrive right after noon. Some of them were walk-ins and had to wait for a table. If you're planning on coming here in the afternoon, a reservation would probably serve best to beat the late afternoon crowds. All in all, I had a really nice time tasting at J Lohr. I will definitely make a return visit when I'm back on this side of town.
