The waitress was super friendly and came often to check up on us and was accommodating when we asked for more time looking through their menu. Although the food did take a while to come out, they took care of us with 3 baskets of free bread and the appetizers came out relatively quick. All of the food was delicious and we were stuffed full by the end of it! Prices are on the slightly higher end but that's pretty relative to the area.

Came here on a weekday for lunch. We were seating immediately and were able to order everything at once with items spaced out, which they actually did. Started with calamari which was good along with bread. Marinara was spicy. Service was also attentive.Food is just okay and price is high. The ravioli was just okay and same with lasagna. Gnocchi was good however. The filets we requested to be medium rare but came out more like medium. Okay but again nothing too great. Left with a pretty big bill.

Food was good but service could be improved. Came here on a Thursday night for dinner. We had reservations so we were sat immediately. However, it took the waiter awhile to come and take our drink orders. It then took some more time to order our food. Once ordered, food came out relatively quick. Would probably come again just because the food was good!

I had an appointment at Apple and was looking for local restaurants that were still open. We saw that Il Fornaio was open still so we decided to walk over and as soon as I stepped in, I knew that I wasn't dressed properly for this restaurant. I felt really uncomfortable (not because of the staff), but just because everyone was dressed so well and I was in leggings and a sweatshirt. So if you're planning to come, I would suggest considering your attire, but it's not required.Overall, the food was just ok and I don't think that it was worth the higher prices. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough for me to want to come back (even if the prices were lower). At the end of the meal, we tried their blended gelato and didn't enjoy it unfortunately. We took a few bites and left the rest. The flavor wasn't for me and I didn't like the texture. It had the texture of ice cream that was left in the freezer for a long time.I never carry a wallet on me (bad habit), but when I came in, I asked if they take apple pay and they do. It is a tad awkward because you have to go to the back to check out and pay if you use apple pay. A lot of restaurants use Toast now and have the machines they bring to the table which is extremely convenient. They don't do that here so if you're able to, I'd highly suggest bringing a credit card.

I was able to easily book a reservation online for a party of 10. On the day of, they called to confirm my reservations and happily adjusted for 11 and said it was easier to go down later if I had no shows. I was asked if I wanted indoors or outdoors. It's a great spot for large parties. The food and drinks are good and ambiance is very nice. The menu prices are in range with other spots in the area. I love that there are many Gluten Free options.I'm super happy we opted to sit outside at 6:30pm on a Thursday evening. The setting was beautiful and pretty quiet even with two other large parties in the area. When I arrived, I checked in with the host and was directed to my party in the bar. It's a nice bar. Our service was very friendly and attentive throughout the night. We had a hard time deciding if we wanted to order family style or not and he came back each time with a smile to check if we were ready. Three of us ended up ordering our own pasta dish. Five people shared three pizzas. The table shared three salads. A few of us had cocktails or wines. I enjoyed my glass of Pinot Grigio. I heard the Passion Fruit Margarita was good. I really enjoyed the Caesar Salad, Caprese Salad, and Chicken and Gluten Free Penne Pasta dish. The sauce on the pasta was a little rich for me but delicious nonetheless. The Arugula Salad looked pretty and fresh. People enjoyed that one. The other two pasta eaters enjoyed their Bolognese and the Raviolis with the Short Ribs. They do not have Gluten Free pizza available so I didn't have any. The Cristina smelled and looked awesome with the prosciutto and truffle oil. The Pesto and Margherita looked really good too. The five people did not finish the three pizzas. There are many slices so it's a perfect size to share. I think maybe if there was one more person, there would maybe be a slice or two left still versus five. Everyone liked their pizza. The one restroom stall I used was out of both toilet seat covers and one roll of toilet paper, but there was a half roll available. We had an enjoyable meal. Both food and service were good. One person did have to ask for a refill of Iced Tea and they didn't refill our water at the end of the meal. I'm sure if I had asked, it would've been brought to me.I'll be back with my family to dine in their courtyard.

Located in Palo Alto and part of a hotel, Il Fornaio offers a spacious dining experience with an open kitchen bustling with chefs. The restaurant has a welcoming ambiance reminiscent of a vibrant restaurant in an airport. Arriving for my reservation on a Tuesday evening, I was promptly seated, and the bustling atmosphere hinted at its popularity for gatherings and events. A delightful surprise awaited a Yelp check-in: complimentary bruschetta or calamari with an entrée, which was a generous offer indeed. The service was delightful; our waitress engaged us warmly, exuding authenticity. Though the pastas may not be Michelin-star caliber, they offer satisfying flavors reminiscent of a high-end Olive Garden. Coming to this restaurant, I wouldn't expect anything particularly fancy. And I would say that a 3 star rating accurately describes the OK-ness of the food. Overall, I thought Il Fornaio was nice with its friendly service, bustling open kitchen ambiance, and satisfying dishes.
