I-shanghai delight is our go-to Shanghai restaurant. I grew up in Shanghai - and found this restaurant serves most authentic soup dumplings and pan fried dumplings. Interestingly, my favorite dish is the veggies soup dumpling, something I never had back in Shanghai in the 1990s - early 2000s.The restaurant is on the smaller side and doesn't have a lot of tables. There can be a long wait time sometimes during weekends. I like that all the decors carry some element of Shanghai.

We were craving for Shanghainese food and decided to give this place a try. We were greeted and seated by a friendly waitress. They have an extensive menu.We ordered the Small Wonton Casserole, Fried Rice Cake Shanghai Style, Shredded Potatoes and Bell Peppers, Xiao Long Bao, Glutinous Rice Roll With Red Bean Paste, Pan Fried Pork Buns, Braised Rice With Green Vegetables and Salted Pork, and Cold Mixed Shredded Kelp. Our food came out in a timely manner. The first dish that came out was the Small Wonton Casserole. While I was enjoying eating it, I felt a hair in my mouth. I spitted it out, and it was a short white hair. Absolutely disgusting! The Fried Rice Cake Shanghai Style was on the salty side. The Shredded Potatoes and Bell Peppers were crunchy. The Xiao Long Baos were meh. We definitely had better elsewhere. The Glutinous Rice Rolls With Red Bean Paste were just ok. The Pan Fried Pork Buns were soupy in the inside and kind of chewy on the outside. The Cold Mixed Kelps were flavorful and chewy. The Braised Rice With Green Vegetables and Salted Pork was tasty. Don't expect any good service at this restaurant. There was only one waitress running the front of the restaurant. This place was packed and she had to do everything by herself. I had to walk up to the counter to ask for the bill and for take out boxes. Then, I walked back to the counter to pay because she was too busy handling a line of people. We were very, very thirsty and had dried mouth for the rest of the day after dining here. They use lots of MSG. We drank lots of water and that didn't quench our thirst.

I've been to I-Shanghai Delight a few times, and it's quickly become one of my favorite spots! This place offers delicious, authentic Shanghai-style dishes that never disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The menu has a great variety of options, but I keep coming back for their signature xiao long bao (soup dumplings) -- they're always so juicy and flavorful! The flavors are bold, and the textures are perfect. I also love their sheng jian bao (pan-fried buns), which have a crispy bottom and a savory filling. The service is always friendly, and the staff is attentive. The food arrives quickly, making it a great spot for a casual meal or gathering. It's a no-frills, authentic experience, and I've always been satisfied with every dish I've tried. If you love Shanghai cuisine, I-Shanghai Delight is definitely worth a visit -- I know I'll be coming back soon!

I'm used to bad service at Chinese restaurants but the service at I-Shanghai Delight is despicably bad. The waitress who took care of our party was extremely rude from the moment we sat down to when we had paid the check and were asking for a few take out boxes. We had a party of 6 and one member was walking over from the car when our table was ready. Instead of seating our party or even asking if our last party member was close by, we got reprimanded from not having the full party present. The food itself is simply not worth the bad service. The beef noodle soup is bland and tastes like watered down soy sauce. There are five pieces of the beef in the noodle soup, so you're mostly getting noodles. If you choose the add-on option with the beef noodle soup, know that you're not going to get additional beef: you get a few pieces of tendon and that's about it.The scallion pancake we received was not properly cooked and was doughy and undercooked on the inside. The pan fried buns and XLBs here are not bad, but they certainly aren't the best I've had either. There are juicier pan fried buns with crispier bottoms elsewhere. Likewise, there are XLBs with thinner wrappers, neater pleats, and better flavor elsewhere. With the plethora of amazing Asian food in Fremont, there is little reason to stop by I-Shanghai for the mediocre food and awful service.

Rude waiters. The worst service from waiters my family and I have ever experienced. The service left a really bad taste in my mouth and ruined the dining experience even though the food itself was ok. I would never go back again.

We took some friends to eat a late night snack at iShanghai. It did not disappoint. I am surprised at the low rating this restaurant has. Oh well, it's our gain as it's not as crowded. We ordered some of our favorites.Xiao Long Bao - (4/5). Great flavor, and the skin is thin but holds a lot of soup. Be careful. They are hot!Pan Fried Pork Buns - (5/5). The bottom is nicely fried, which gives you a nice crunch at you are eating it. Just as long as you don't drench it in vinegar.Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs - (4/5). A nice balance of sour and sweet. Some pieces were tender and juicy. Some were tougher and chewier. But, still a delicious sauce to put on rice.Fried Scallion Pancake - (4/5). Fried crispy goodness.

If you're looking for DELICIOUS FOOD, excellent XLB (soup dumplings), or just Delicious Shanghainese food - look no further than i-Shanghai in Fremont!!! Everything is just absolutely delish and you can't go wrong with anything here! It's no wonder there's always a line here and they contest you until all parties are present! My friends had a Shanghainese food craving so we came to i-Shanghai. We went a little overboard (yes -never order at a restaurant (or go to Costco!) while you're starving!!!) and ordered about 20 dishes!! But hey - we ended up packing a lot home for the next day to enjoy too!! ;)A couple of highlights: * XLB Soup Dumplings - Their XLBs are SO GOOD! We had the Crab and regular, and beats Din Tai Fung's in my opinion ;)* Fried Turnip Cake - it doesn't look like much but it is so good - packed with legit turnip julien slices and so flavorful!* Shanghainese Pan Fried Soup Dumpling - packed with juice inside (be careful when biting into it!) and it's probably the best in the Bay Area* Bean paste with Eel - Very special dish that is hard to find, at least almost never cooked things. It is delicious and so perfect when mixed with noodles. * Everything is delicious here! You really can't go wrong with any of their dishes!!Happy camper and yummy full! :)

The place has a few restaurants nearby, so parking was not bad. There were a few people during the lunch rush but there was plenty of seating inside. The pan fried pork buns and xiao long bao were ordered. For the pan-fried pork buns, they were flavorful and tasty, however, the xlb would have been a bit better if it was more flavorful in the meat and juices. I had to add some chili sauce to it to give some kick and flavor.

I liked the pan fried pork buns! The xiao long bao was ok, but I think I would get something other than shrimp for the filling. The lotus root filled with sticky rice was sweet, but I don't think I liked that combination. The lucky cat in the front is hilarious!

This is strictly for their food but oh my gosh if you want a good basket of XLB's come here! I'm tempted to gate keep this spot because it's already so crowded on the weekends but I cannot stop raving about how good the XLB's here are to anyone who will listen. I actually think that these are the top ones I've had in the bay, the filling of each one is succulent and oh sooo juicy. You could pour out a whole spoonful of soup from each XLB. They have a spicy pork XLB and it's phenomenal, I would highly recommend trying that if youre okay with some spice. It's just so fragrant with the chili oil. Their other dishes are also pretty good, I would recommend their Shanghainese style pot rice, and also the mini wonton soup! We came here for Father's Day lunch and left feeling very happy and full.
