Selfishly, I hope this place remains a secret because there's really no better place to get a hot bowl of ramen and chashu rice combo where the rice isn't completely drenched in some mayo teriyaki abomination. Also, the ramen is always HOT. A lot of other ramen places serve lukewarm soup and that really kills the ramen for me. Service is always friendly and quick. If u go anytime M-th, there's usually no line and lots of seating. Get a crepe afterwards next door to really complete ur day Note - portion sizes actually makes sense. I think you can customize a larger bowl, but the regular size is enough to fill you up without the so stuffed feeling where you're about to vomit.

We love coming to Santouka for their ramen. We would drive over 45 min for it! So I would say this is one of our favorite places for ramen in the Bay Area. The only thing I wish they have is more Char-Siu in the ramen than just 2 pieces.I love the combo with sake & ikura rice bowl. $22.95 for the set is pretty good deal. It fed the 2 of us well.

We first started coming to this place over 10-years ago and it was always very crowded. We used to have to wait in line for over 30-45 minutes to just eat here. But now, there are so many options in the area that there are no longer any lines. We came here on a Friday at noon, and there was literally no one in line. Ramen is a very personal taste and I've eaten many ramen restaurants in the Bay Area, but I've always been drawn to the Shio soup at Santouka. It's the best I've ever eaten, even compared to Japan. It has a very comforting taste. I can't point to why it's so good, but it just hits me the right way. If I'm in the area and in search of Ramen, this will be my comfort food for sure

This place gets hyped up all the time as the best ramen in the south bay. I've walked past it plenty of times and seen the overwhelming lines and skipped over it.It's located in the food court of the Mitsuwa super market. Finding a table to enjoy your meal can be hit or miss.I wasn't feeling super hungry so we got a miso ramen to split. The flavors were okay but the chashu really disappointed me. It was SO DRY and overcooked. The ramen had a good texture, and the soup was alright. I don't know how this gets hyped up as the best ramen in the South Bay.Would I eat here again? Maybe. Would I go out of my way and wait in a huge line for it? I'm good.

This is a super casual eatery located within Mitsuwa (Japanese grocery store). I went for lunch and really liked that they have combos of ramen plus a rice dish available. I got the regular ramen and it's good and will satisfy that generic ramen craving. I tried the fermented soy bean rice bowl though and it was not good ... the soy beans were cold and weird and really "sticky". I ended up tossing it after a few bites. Service is super fast and you eat in the communal dining area and then bus your own table so it's a pretty casual setup

I would rate 3.5 if I could, this spot was good and fulfills the craving for ramen but the broth doesn't have as much depth as I would've liked. Additionally, they do give a lot of meat but personally I like charsiu a but more thinly sliced. The noodles were good and chewy, and the bowls come with a lot of toppings. This is a solid spot given the short wait times and amount of food you get for the price.

We had high hopes for this ramen spot tucked inside Mitsuwa Market, especially after reading all the glowing reviews. The seating is food court-style, making it a convenient option if you're looking to explore a variety of dishes from other vendors inside the market in addition to your ramen. The highlights: For such a popular place, the wait time was surprisingly short--we placed our order in under 10 minutes. The pricing was also a pleasant surprise: two bowls of ramen for under $35 in the Bay Area, and at a highly-rated spot no less, felt like a great deal.We tried the Spicy Miso Ramen and the Shoyu Ramen. While both were decent, neither stood out enough to warrant a return visit. The chashu pieces were too chunky and chewy for my liking, and the broth lacked the depth and richness I expect from good ramen--it just didn't pack a punch or feel cohesive. On the plus side, the noodles were nicely cooked, and the Spicy Miso was definitely better than the Shoyu.Overall, we left a bit disappointed but are still glad we gave it a try.

Excellent ramen restaurant inside Mitsuwa. The broth and toppings are really good, and the plum adds a nice touch. I also love the salmon rice bowl - the ikura and the salmon go so well together. The egg and the noodles are just average, the noodle cooking time can be a little inconsistent. Another downside is that they don't provide water cups, but they do have drinks available for purchase. Overall, it's a great place to grab a quick hearty meal at a reasonable price.

Located in Mitsuwa Marketplace, parking is plentiful and easy to find. There's a good amount of seating and a few other restaurants within proximity.B62 (4.5/5): the broth was so good. It was super flavorful and fragrant. The noodles were a good firmness. The egg could've been better. It seemed like it was premade or something cause the yolk wasn't runny whatsoever. The pork was tender though.Service was blazingly quick. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is an amazing place for ramen.

This is my family's go-to ramen spot! The lines used to be pretty long, but they're much more manageable now. They offer 4 different soup flavors: Shio (salt), Shoyu (soy sauce), Miso, and Spicy Miso, and you can choose from 3 sizes: small, medium, or large. You line up to order, and they'll call out your number when your order is ready. I almost always go for the small Shio, and it's the perfect size for me. The broth is super flavorful, and the noodles are cooked perfectly every time. I always leave with a happy tummy! It can be tricky to find seats in the food court on the weekend if you have a large party, but it's worth the wait!
