I was craving some coffee cake so that was 90% of why I decided to come here. The service here is on point like a fancy restaurant. They seem to know their regulars and they are super at their service by asking if we wanted lemon for our water, letting me try their famous orange tea (not my thing but thanks for the sample where I found out it's not my type of tea), and got boxes for us asap.No frills breakfast place. Decent bacon. Decent eggs, and great coffee cake.Plenty of parking, kind of empty vibe. I felt like I was at like an upscale work cafeteria.

For you Silicon Valley OGs, who might remember those pre-worldwide web days, when the Steves (Jobs and Woz) were just starting, and people worked at Fairchild Semiconductor, and shag rugs and avocado colored kitchen major appliances decor was in, when the very first emoji, "smiley face", was 10-15 years old (designed in '63), and the first major health craze hit America (running, tofu, organics), a few years after Cigarettes were banned from advertising on TV, a couple of healthy local restaurant chains existed: Good Earth, and Hobees. Hobees started in Mountain View in the 70's, and ultimately expanded to about 5-6 locations in Silicon Valley, including San Jose, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Los Gatos, and the only one in San Mateo county, this one in Belmont/Redwood Shores, back when Marineworld was located here, not in Vallejo (ergo the Marineworld or Marine Parkway street name around here). This restaurant is attached to a large Motel 6, and they are only open from morning to 2, breakfast and lunch. The decor still has remnants of 70's decor, wood paneling, but no hanging Ferns like the old Henry Africa's bar in SF, or avocado green kitchen appliances. Speaking of Avocado, I ordered a brekkie special, Salmon Avocado Toast, tea and oj. What came was a full meal! 2 pieces of salmon draped over a bed of arugula, cherry tomatoes, on a thick slice of chibatta type bread, and sprinkled atop with feta cheese and a side of half an avocado! Yum yum! Healthy and filling! No Good Earth Tea, but you can still order that online. Hobees was famous for its good service, good food and blueberry coffee cake. Maybe you Millennials and Gen-Zers can check it out, and understand what your parents or grandparents were reminiscing about, or why they can't text in a full range of emoji, only a Smiley Face!(Is the plural of Emoji, Emojis?)

Hobee's is an interesting little spot to grab breakfast. It's got a quaint atmosphere that feels a bit like a friendly neighborhood diner, but with a Motel 6 spin. The food was hit or miss for me. The smoothie and coffee cake were excellent. The main dish? Not so much. They include little slices of fruit on the side that were both extremely unripe. It would have been better to not include them at all.All of that said, the staff were very friendly and attentive. It's not a bad place to eat, but I'm not sure it's a first choice for me personally.

Twas next to our hotel, and we'd heard LEGENDS of its blueberry coffee cake, covered in thicc butter. It did not disappoint, on that level. Service was EXCELLENT. So sweet and outgoing. Very attentive. But for such an old school place, it sure feels like an empty banquet hall someone is renting out for your breakfast. Not very cozy, or lived-in. Eggs needed to Be hotter, And sausage needed to be crispier-- but hey! It's the ol school San Carlo experience.

Went to Hobee's since we were staying at the Motel 6 for two days before moving on to another spot to got the Dot Com Ommie which included Bacon, mushrooms, spinach, red onion and Swiss cheese topped with sun-dried tomato pesto the omelet was chock full of bacon which I was pleasantly surprised I had to admit it was a great omelet I also included hash browns which was pretty decent I have to say although the omelets are a bit pricey they make up for it in the amount of ingredients in there. Parking if you are coming here is plentiful so that's not a problem. And they are pretty quick with your order too.

Huge menu with lots of options, there's something here for every one; breakfasts, sandwiches, smoothies, omelets, scrambles, Benedict's, salads, pasta, burgers. The Salmon Hash is really good. The potatoes are buttery, garlic roasted with artichoke hearts and small chunks of salmon, with your choice of eggs on top. Casual family restaurant, good stop for relaxed weekend brunch.

We always have a fantastic experience at this location, but today was especially memorable thanks to our waitress, Marcela! She is truly the sweetest person, so kind and attentive, making us feel well taken care of throughout our meal. My mom keeps raving about how wonderful Marcela is, which really shows the lasting impression she made on us! So amazing how exceptional staff can make your dining experience so much better!

We sat outdoors with our doggo. It wasn't crowded at all. The staff was friendly with our dog and provided water. The food is pretty decent for a peninsula brunch spot. I would definitely come again. Their banana blueberry bread is good.

Ate at this spot before leaving SF and had a really tasty late breakfast on a weekday. I had an avocado toast special. My friends got a couple of tasty options too. It's a little odd that it seems to be the restaurant for a Motel 6 and it gave me old school chain diner feels. The service was quick and the price point was good. The menu is large so you'll find something for most people.
