Solid spot for dim sum, offering a great selection of fresh, flavorful dishes. The shrimp dumplings (har gow), pork buns, and siu mai were all top-notch, with thin, delicate wrappers and juicy fillings. The restaurant has a modern, upscale ambiance, but it can get crowded and noisy, especially on weekends. Service is efficient but can feel a bit rushed at times. Overall, if you're craving high-quality dim sum in the area, this place is worth a visit!!

There's nothing really wrong with the food or service -- but sanitation is to be questioned. Visibly, I witnessed a staff member (wearing a suit so I'd assume he may not be a waiter who wears vests) wiping his nose as he was setting out new plates and utensils. Later, he wiped his nose again and wiped it on the new napkin that's to be used by a new guest who will be sitting there. That was really foul. Other than that, the food is decent. Not great, but not bad. However, I am not sure if the price matches to the value you're getting. We ordered half a suckling pig, and while it wasn't cheap, it was served at room temperature and felt like it was sitting out for some time. Also, found a fly in our clay pot, but they happily removed it from our bill and comped us for free drinks. It was my first time here and did not leave with a favorable impression. But let me remind that service is great and it shines above their food and price. Aesthetic wise, it is very posh with a very big banquet room area and large televisions. It wouldn't be my first pick unless it's a huge party that wants something nice aesthetically. Great service, with average food is all I can say.

I called ahead because we were a party of 10 trying to get a reservation during lunch time. We had not considered that it would be during lunar new year. Upon calling, I was told that they won't be able to do reservations for our party during lunch, but that we would have ZERO issue in getting a party of 10 seated. So it was to my surprise that when we tried to get into the parking lot, it was near impossible to get a spot. It took a solid 10 minutes of driving around the small lot to find seating. And then another 30 minutes in order to get seated. While I wasn't aware that it would be lunar new year on this date, I feel like the restaurant mislead me into believing that we would be seated instantly. After actually getting seated, we were prepared with our order in order to streamline the process. However, many of the marked items on the menu were not transcribed from the menu to our order, even though we checked with the server upon placing the order and confirming. It was truly chaotic inside and the service was equally as chaotic. The food was good though and good quality dimsum despite all the chaos. There were select special items for lunar new year, such as lobster noodles and mango jellies in bunny form. I would consider going back on a normal, non-holiday

Restaurant was clean and grand looking. The service is friendly and the food is good. There's a decent amount of parking so the restaurant can fit alot of people. The only thing is that the wait gets pretty long during the weekend. Either go right when they open or maybe 1-2 hours after to hit the second wave.

This review is for hosting a luncheon banquet, half house on a Saturday. We had about 220 guest for 24 tables. We reserved half house on a Saturday from 1200-1500. We had guest arrive at 1130, they were not allowed in. Our coordinator was allowed in to set up at 9am, however, they seated guest in that area at 10am, people were still dining at 1130am! Those guest were rushed out so our table could be turned around and the chairs could be wrapped...It was a mess and I felt it reflected poorly on me. We communicated with Leon that our guest would come around 1130am, and lunch service would begin at 12pm. Lunch was not served until 1230pm and the staff started to pass out take out containers at 116pm. Half our venue was dismantled by 215pm! It was such a rip off experience. I am really disappointed and have regrets hosting my child's 100th Day Event. I also received some feedback that food was cold. Our guest had a lot of trouble finding parking, there was no one outside to direct parking until 1150am. People were redirected to park by Costco Business Center. Overall, I would reconsider if you're considering hosting half house lunch at HL Peninsula. Considering spending a bit more for the full house esp if you're having 200+ guests. Dinner is a bit more expensive, but it is a possibility too. Otherwise, perhaps go to another restaurant. (although I know there are limited venues in the Bay Area).

The best restaurant for dim sum in the SF Bay Area! It's been my favorite for years and I return every time I visit. Their dim sum is high quality. Some of my favorites are the purple rice paper shrimp rolls, the salted egg custard lava steamed buns, and the Peking duck - it's literally the best around. The two locations in SF are very spacious. They have private rooms available for large parties and their venue is available for wedding banquets as well. Lots of tables and bright lighting, but don't be fooled, HL Peninsula is so popular that they are always busy, even on weekdays! Be prepared for a wait, especially on busier days like weekends and prime Chinese brunch hours.

I came here with a party of six, but keep in mind that your entire group needs to be present to get seated, which can be inconvenient if you're waiting for others to arrive. While waiting, the staff repeatedly tried to upsell us on a private room, which came with an extra fee and required us to finish dining by a certain time. We declined multiple times, explaining that our party wasn't fully there yet and that we didn't want to be rushed, but they kept pushing, which was frustrating.Once our group arrived, they seated us in the main area, but we noticed part of the table was wet. At first, we thought a drink might have spilled and asked for napkins. However, we soon realized that water was leaking from the ceiling above us. When we requested to move, they accommodated us, but shortly after, we saw them seat another group at the same table with the leaking issue. Instead of addressing the problem, they just shifted the table slightly to avoid the dripping water, which felt very unprofessional. If they were aware of this recurring issue, they should have kept the table out of use.The service overall was lacking. It was difficult to get the attention of a server, which made the experience even more disappointing. Additionally, this place doesn't offer the traditional dim sum experience with carts circulating the room. Instead, you fill out a menu, the staff inputs your order, and the dishes are brought to your table. The dim sum itself was just okay, not particularly memorable. While the food was passable, the service and atmosphere left much to be desired.

First time to this HL Peninsula Restaurant and it was for a celebratory dinner. This restaurant is HUGE! So many different dining areas. We were in what I think was the largest of the rooms and it comfortably held 14 tables with 10 diners per table. There were two huge screens that played a video of the bride and groom's adventures and wedding that made it fun and entertaining. They had a mic system that allowed them to thank all the guests, too. Nice set-up for whatever gathering one would wish for. Now the food: the marinated fungus (small version of woodears?) was delicious. It, and some boiled marinated peanuts, was on the table as appetizers when we sat down. The odd thing was, there were also cookies and orange wedges on the table, which usually comes out at the end of a meal. The meal itself started with a platter of suckling pig and this was absolutely perfect (for the diners, not so much for the poor pig). It was cooked divinely with the most amazingly crispy skin, a bit of fat under the skin, and a nice layer of moist, tender lean meat. It might've been the best roast pork I've ever had and I've had plenty in my day! The feast continued with some fried eggrolls and pork ribs, a gelatinous soup that was not the best (bland), scallops with greens, abalone with huge shiitake mushrooms, Peking duck with steamed buns, fried rice that had craisins in it (different but kind of worked), steamed fish, and a red bean soup for dessert. The food was very good, much of it better than average, but a couple of dishes that could have been better seasoned. The venue itself was really nice and probably a bit classier than many other Chinese restaurants. The service was good with many changes of plates as they were filled with bones and other discards. The tea pot was filled immediately when attention was called to it, so, all in all, good food, good service, great venue!

Came here on a Friday night for a work holiday party. The bossladies reserved a private room so we can eat whilst simultaneously singing our hearts out to early 2000s and throwbacks on the karaoke. I had the honor in helping choose some of the dishes for our little banquet soiree and was pretty pleased with the dishes that were presented. We wanted to include a good variety of meat, fish/seafood and veggie dishes so that everybody in our party could enjoy. In total we had to choose about 11 dishes for our dinner party. Some of my favorites were the westlake soup which was comforting on a cool evening. It had egg whites, mushrooms, cilantro and beef in a thick broth. The fried tofu dish was a crowd pleaser. It had a crispy exterior with a very soft interior, came with a dip but it didn't need anything but it tasted good by itself. Another favorite of mine was the wagyu beef with the chopped up asparagus. The beef was very flavorful and tender. The honey walnut shrimp is always a must in a banquet, the shrimp was nicely glazed with a slight crunch and the candied walnuts were on point. The portion of the shrimp was small though. The beef chow fun and the golden egg fried rice were just as tasty. For dessert we were given salted egg yolk and taro buns and red bean soup. The red bean soup was okay but the salted egg yolk bun was delicious! The dishes I didn't care too much for were the sweet and sour pork because it had bones and I dislike food with obstacles. The chinese tender greens were aight but nothing special, they were barely touched at both tables. We had problems in the beginning getting the karaoke set up. We were given an ipad and it was difficult to search for songs and the selection were very limited. We had to search and change the setting from chinese to english. Their system they use is also outdated. The room we were in could comfortable seat about 20-25 people and it was nice that it was a private room so we could be as loud and obnoxious as we want lol. Our dishes came out pretty fast and the servers were able to take and combine other dishes to make space on the lazy susan. The location is a bit out of the way but very close to Costco Business center. So you can get your shopping on after getting dim sum here! Their parking lot is huge and the restaurant is pretty spacious, their restroom were roomy as well.Overall, the food was pretty good and the service was quick. Wait staff could've been a tad bit more friendly and nice. The room was reserved from 6pm to close and I think the workers got tired of us after the 2nd to 3rd hour. I saw the quote for the reservation and number of dishes and it was pretty steep. My bossladies definitely splurged on us. I would like to come back here to try their dim sum in the future.

Came here to celebrate a 70th birthday party. We had a very well decorated and private room. The service was great! What you would expect from a nice establishment as this. The food was pretty average, with a few dishes being outstanding and a few dishes not meeting quality expectations. One dish was slightly undercooked! HL Peninsula is great for parties gathering around a circular table, so if yall like to talk without breaking a neck to face someone, these types of eateries is the place to go. Also it is great to bring your own bottles (wine or shots) and pay the corkage fee! Id have to try the Dim sum here though, I hear this is really good!
