First and foremost, the ramen is excellent. The broth is rich with umami, and the noodles have a great mouth feel. Other than that, the roasted pork in the regular tonkatsu set is delicious and satisfying. The combo said it's only six more dollars, and it comes with a bowl of rice and a size salad, which is more than I could finish today Overall, this is a stand out Ramen restaurant that either is learned from the failings of others, or never followed in their trendy footsteps in the first place

I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen, and as always, it feels like both home and a hug at the same time.I first tried HiroNori in LA, and was so happy to find it in the Bay Area! It still gives me the same butterflies as when I first tasted it. The broth is absolutely amazing--nothing really compares, to be honest. We visited on Valentine's weekend, and to our surprise, it wasn't too busy. Parking was also surprisingly easy, despite being in the heart of downtown San Mateo. The servers were incredibly friendly and even offered great recommendations. The chicken was perfection--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also tried the vegan gyoza, which was good but I'd rate it a 7/10.The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I haven't yet tried all of their ramen options. I'll update my review once I do. LOL!

Came on a Tuesday night. There was no wait. The place itself is not cozy or inviting and kind of cold inside. The chairs have no backs so are really uncomfortable and you can't really hang your jacket. The ramen here is mid. Honestly, there's so many ramen options nearby that this is not worth it. Also the charges for the extra toppings are insane. We tried both the tonkatsu and the shoyu ramen. Both just okay. The karaage was better than average but still nothing I would come back for.Overall, I probably wouldn't be coming back unless somehow the broth got way more flavorful and umami filled.

Not a ramen fan, but all your friends and family love it? This place is honestly great for you. They have the traditional tonkotsu broth but also a chicken based broth that I loveddddd. The portions are great and as someone who doesn't eat pork very often due to the texture being gamey sometimes, I surprisingly liked the piece of char siu in my soup! It was super flavorful, crispy on the outside and soft inside. They're very vegan friendly in my opinion with a lot of options and they do not skimp out on their vegan ramen bowls, I can promise you, that because it was piled high with everything imaginable. Also had the crispy tuna rice, edamame, and vegan gyoza. They put yuzu on the edamame and the tuna had a good kick to it. Company felt the gyoza was too greasy. I LOVEEEE what they do with their water, other fruits than just lemon to elevate the taste and cleanse the palette a bit. I think when we were there it was with watermelon and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, thinking nothing can compare to lemon water or it would taste barely there like a rind. We came around 3pm on a weekday and the tables were pretty full, no wait though, I'd assume they're busier during normal dinner hours. They only had one server for the entire restaurant at the time so it was kind of slow, no biggie just expect to sit down and relax if you're going during nonpeak hours.

Ramen spot in downtown San Mateo offers a variety of ramen and sides, but our experience was mixed. We ordered the shoyu ramen (chicken broth with pork chashu), tonkotsu ramen, eel tempura buns, crispy chicken, and a chicken rice bowl. The eel tempura buns were interesting and tasted good, while the crispy chicken was over-fried and dry. The chicken rice bowl was better, with tender chicken thighs. The ramen itself was average--decent but not particularly memorable.Unfortunately, the service detracted from our overall experience. While most of the wait staff were friendly, our main waitress was quite rude. She became visibly annoyed when we changed the quantity of one our dishes (asked for 3 buns instead of 2) despite not even being done ordering the rest of the food. She was also very dismissive throughout the entire dinner and it was clear that she was being like that with everyone. It's also worth noting that a 16% service charge is automatically added to the bill.

HiroNori Ramen | San Mateo 1. Tonkotsu Ramen -- pork chashu, green onion, spinach, seaweed, bean sprouts, half egg 2. Crispy Chicken -- garlic, soy marinated fried chicken thigh HiroNori Ramen in San Mateo is a ramen restaurant serving delicious ramen (shoyu, tonkatsu, miso) with rich broths and perfectly cooked noodles. I tried the tonkotsu ramen, and it was delicious--the broth was slightly salty, and the crispy chicken reminded me a lot of popcorn chicken. If you so happen to be in San Mateo, check this place out!

If you're on the hunt for an incredible bowl of ramen, HiroNori Craft Ramen delivers a next-level experience! The tonkotsu broth is pure magic--rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, thanks to 24 hours of boiling perfection. Pair that with their crispy chicken, and you've got a winning combo that hits all the right notes of savory and satisfying.HiroNori's commitment to quality is unmatched: * The pork chashu is melt-in-your-mouth tender, made from only the freshest pork. * The soy sauce? Barrel-aged for TWO years--it's the real MVP of flavor. * And the noodles, cut fresh every morning, have the perfect chewy bite. Pro tip: Eat them ASAP to savor that texture!Bonus: Parking here is super easy and accessible, so no need to stress about circling the block.Heads up, there's a 16% service charge added to your bill, which isn't a tip (California law requires tax on it). But trust me, the quality of the ramen is worth every penny.HiroNori isn't just a meal--it's a ramen lover's dream!
