Hikari Sushi & Grill has its own style of Japanese ambiance. The table style is so cool in this Redwood City Japanese upscale restaurant. Plum Wine and Beer and warm Saki. Five Star customer service from Thomas and a great family style restaurant atmosphere. I brought my family here and it will be a great memory forever.Thank you Hikari for a wonderful family dinner, fab food, outstanding service and many memories. Great job Thomas. See you again soon. Make sure to check in on Yelp and unlock the offer for a free hot sake. When we entered the restaurant, the waitress greeted us right away. They have an extensive menu. We decided to get the butter scallops, pork katsu, and yoshe nabe ( seafood hotpot). The hot sake was warm and flavorful. The butter scallops were very flavorful and buttery. This was the highlight of our meal. The tonkotsu was on the greasy side. There was a lot fat on the pork, which I didn't like. They need to trim off the fat. The yoshe nabe came with three clams and they all had sand in them. It came with one piece of rotting broccoli, and it was yellowish. The portions were small for the prices what we paid for except for the scallops. We were both still hungry after our meal, and we're not big eaters.

Staff and Service:- The staff was patient with us as we kept forgetting to look at the menu because we were talking- Once we ordered, the food was fairly quick to arrive Food:- Tamago: different style than you typically get Dr sushi restaurants. This one had good flavor - 49ers Roll: typical 49ers roll with a nice kick from the lemon slices- Agedashi Tofu: came with 4 pieces, so was easy for the two of us to shareMiscellaneous:- Small parking lot available that is shared with another business - Bathrooms located straight back from the entrance - You can see the chefs working from where you're seated at your table, which is cool

Not a review...More a query. Our favorite sushi place, Hikari on El Camino and Whipple closed abruptly late last week. Sign on door says "We are closed. Thank you for your patronage."So many spots didn't survive the pandemic, but this was a shocker. Too few low key, affordable places left between RWC and Palo Alto. Which would be about as far as I ought to drive after one adult beverage.Anyone know what happened and if they will re-open - ever?Sad and jonesing for garlic edamame and the salmon tuna tower - amongst other things!

Very cozy restaurant in Redwood City. Best part was the service, everyone was super nice and attentive. The food was pretty good as well, I'd recommend for a casual dinner.

Nah, really, loads of sushi restaurants on the peninsula and this is one of the more disappointing. I'm rarely ever disappointed in most of the Bay Area restaurants I've frequented. When I am, I'll tell you why. I ordered via food delivery app and I understand a restaurant's frustrations with the delivery apps taking a cut of their hard work, but don't up charge and then cut your portions in half. Same portions across the board and up charge. In my photos, I placed my hand on the side for measurement. No, I don't have big hands, ha! I have small hands. The Lobster Roll is very good and I paid $20.00 for a miniature version of it, what the heck? I'm looking on Yelp before ordering and I'm thinking this roll is huge and my order will be delivered in a large bag. 2 little miniature bags delivered my order. The ribeye skewer was the same, 3 teeny little bites whereas I see the Yelpers photos of 4-5 chunks on a skewer. This was a child skewer I received. At this point I'm laughing then almost cried what I paid for this order. Warriors Roll was even smaller, omg. Tiny bits of lemon peel inside I did not appreciate at all. This was really not good at all. I'm looking for the fish and it's barely there. One last blast, what is that corn appetizer? Literally, $9.95 for a cup of corn kernels with a chunk of shredded cheese melted clump, their cost about $1.00 and my cost $9.95. Still in awe of this one. How is the corn app $9.95 and a ribeye skewer $5.50? It's corn! I was anticipating some cultural flare with this app, my reason and curiosity for ordering it. I love Mexican corn dishes but this was exactly what I stated. I paid a total of $55 for what's in the attached photos. No sir! Never again. Just a few blocks south in a large shopping center across the street from Whole Foods, resides a well respected sushi restaurant loved by the community. Learn from them. I get delivery from them frequently, all portions same, dining inside or delivery.

Hikari is small, and a little dark but has great sushi!! Really tasty low-key sushi spot in Redwood City. They have very fun appetizers and the service has always been great. I've never had anything I didn't enjoy.

I love this place. Unsuspecting from the outside, but inside holds some of the most delicious Japanese food I've ever had. My cousin was in town and wanted sushi so she looked up places on Yelp and decided on Hikari. Not sure what to expect, but she said she was paying so sign me up! We arrived pretty early after opening so we were seated right away. The menu's somewhat extensive and we opted for a variety of different things to share: skewers, oysters, beef sukiyaki, hamachi collar, omakase. All the food was good. The sukiyaki's broth could be a little more flavorful, but otherwise no complaints in the food department. We did have a dirty plate upon seating, but the worker replaced it asap.

Stopped by this place on a Sunday afternoon. Not too busy in here! Lots of parking in the lot along with a Starbucks and T-Mobile. Service was pretty quick, we didn't really have a waiter cause we sat at the bar. We ordered directly from the sushi chef which was nice. Food came out fast. Sushi was great! The lobster roll was my favorite, lots of little crispy tempura pieces. Our edamame we ordered was so salty which was kinda disappointing. They did give us a whole water pitcher which was nice. Restaurant was pretty clean and modern. There's also some booths in addition to the tables for those wondering. Overall, pretty good place!

I was looking for a quick bite and decided to order for delivery here and it came fairly quick. I really enjoyed the rainbow roll and the hamachi toro 2 piece. The hamachi toro was amazing I just wish the rainbow roll was a bit more in the size for the price but overall it was good.
