Hawaiian Drive Inn

I grabbed dinner here on a Monday evening before attending a show in SF. Street parking was free and easy right in front of the eatery. There was plenty of indoor seating and a restroom that had an "out of order" sign on it (though I saw staff using it). The place didn't have a very inviting feel and was a bit awkward in there with no music or anything to lighten up the mood. The staff wasn't exactly friendly, but he was efficient in helping customers, just spoke with very quick and direct language. The loco moco was pretty good, a generous amount of rice, nicely seasoned gravy, tender hamburger steak patties with a slight char, perfectly cooked eggs on top, and delicious macaroni salad (though the mac was a little too creamy for my taste). I prefer the restaurant location in my city (San Jose), it just offers a nicer experience overall. But Hawaiian Drive Inn on San Bruno Ave in SF still provides good value for what you get in terms of food, with reasonable pricing.

Came here after getting coffee right next door at Hey Neighbor! Good: - No line, got my order taken right away - all the prices are so cheap comparatively! - Super nice staff, got a bbq chicken and mac and cheese 2 scoops instead of 1 rice and 1 mac and cheese- I loved the bbq chicken and how tender it was, the mac was also great and chilled - Lots of seatingBad: - Just a little janky of a place, truly a hidden gemOverall I'd come again to try another dish! I like how simple and fast it was to get my food.

Good food for actually a cheap price! I got a spam musubi and chicken katsu musubi, each was 2.30, meaning i got a small meal or large snack for less than 5 bucks. Pretty unheard of in 2024. Both were fresh and did what they were supposed to do.

Yum! This is a solid spot for simple takeout. I got the Chicken Katsu Plate, which was better than expected! The chicken was surprisingly tender and there wasn't too much batter. Not too salty and had good flavor!I wish that they put the katsu sauce inside the container instead of in the bag... It ended up spilling all over. A downside was the mac salad for me. It was honestly just mayo on noodles. It wasn't flavorful at all.

I have been getting short ribs for the holidays party. It's been a hit. Their spam musabi is also everyone favorite. I also tried their chicken katsu which was great! I am always hoping for left over so we can bring them home for later. :)

Stumbled upon this place in Portola and the food was really good! This place prefers cash as they offer a higher price if you're paying card. We got the loco moco and the katsu placate and the food came out within 10 minutes. The katsu was super tender and juicy and the macaroni salad was delicious as well! The loco moco was good as well but had a bit too much gravy and the eggs were cooked a bit longer than I would've liked. Overall, I liked the atmosphere and would recommend trying this place if you're in the area!

This gotta be one of the saddest looking breakfast plates-eggs hammered, suppose to be over easy-sausage burnt to a crisp. So dry you can see cracks in it. Color kinda reminds me of blood sausage. Won't be eating itDon't order from this location. I had it from other locations it always comes out good.

Did a Togo . On time . Nice lady at the counter . Food is really good for my taste . I order garlic shrimp Togo and I really liked it

The lady at the register was completely rude and I always come here as a regular customer the nice gentleman always nice

Good quick and affordable bite to eat.I just moved into the area and plan to visit again.
