My partner and I visited Happiness Hot Pot on a Friday evening. There was a parking lot, but most spaces belonged to residences, so parking can be a challenge (especially since there is an Orange Theory in the same plaza). In terms of wait, it was not bad at all and we got seated right away. The restaurant was not very busy when we visited. We ordered the mild version of the Spicy Beef Tallow soup base along with the non-Spicy Mushroom soup base. I really enjoyed the soup bases and thought that mild was a good level of spiciness (for my Cantonese stomach). The lamb and beef meat quality here was quite high. There was good marbling; and very easy chewing texture. The portions are quite small so you'll likely order more plates of meat than other hotpot restaurants. Sauce bar was pretty decent too and had most staples.I would skip ordering meat balls. We ordered the ball platter, but were quite unsatisfied by the portion size. Not worth the money considering that the balls were likely store bought.I enjoyed the meal, but probably won't come back due to the higher pricing compared to other hotpot places.

Wanted to love this place based on the reviews, but was overall pretty unimpressed. For a new restaurant, the interior could use some work/remodeling. The ambiance is bleak and bland, very much giving hole in the wall mom & pop shop vibes once you enter the door. The food was okay - not terrible but nothing to write home about. Very average traditional Chinese hotpot. I wasn't very impressed by the cuts of meats we ordered either. They also offer one free plate of meat if you write a 5 star review, which definitely has inflated their Yelp ratings. The service was mediocre - it took a long time for my friend's rice to come out, and he had to follow up with the server a few times because it seemed like they had forgotten about the rice even after everything else already came out. I'd only come here again if I was in the area and desperately needed some hotpot. Otherwise just save yourself the trouble and drive 10 more minutes south for Hai di lao.

Brooooooo! The Australian wagyu and tender beef were the best meat I've ever had at a hot pot place. Also the beef tallow (butter) mala was ridiculous. We were in an altered state after we left. We spent $100 for 2 people but there was enough food for 3 regular people or 4 smaller appetite peeps lol

We found Happiness to be good but it isn't the best hot pot we have had. Service was just ok. And the ambiance was more self service and not as clean. The tongs were quite dirty. The tables are made with tiles and were a bit sticky as well as the grout areas are hard to keep clean. The restrooms were just ok clean. The bar with sauces was ok but a bit jumbled together in some cases. All together we will stick to better service and quality. I give 4 stars are the service and cleanliness could have been better.

place is called Happiness Hot Pot, but my experience was anything BUT happy. I'm convinced these reviews are from family/friends or bought $$, bc 4.9 is outrageous for this place.we waited almost 2 hours on a saturday night with only 7 people in front of us. the workers are incredibly inefficient. when we were next in line, we sat inside and watched them let empty dirty tables just sit there while they sat around & chatted. two tables paid & left and i kid you not, they cleaned them after 10 minutes of just sitting there and then after they were clean, never sat the next party (us), until we asked to please be seated...? there were 12 parties after us and everybody else left bc they were taking so long. we never got water. i had to ask. then they never brought cups for the water. the meat took 45 minutes to come out. and we had to keep asking where it was. the worst part, the food. there is no difference in quality between this meat and AYCE. we got the oil spice one in extra spicy, and when they refilled the soup, they filled it WATER (!!) not even broth. i've never in my life seen a hot pot place be so cheap that they fill up your soup with water.the broth lacked flavor and was like 99% numbing spice. filling it with water made it even worse. with all of the competition in the area, this place was EASILY the worst hot pot place i've ever been to. waited hours for terrible food and service.

Delicious food, fast service, decor that looks like they had a sale at a bathroom tile store.I walked in and the sole worker greeted me by nearly turning me away. "You know this is where you cook in broth at your table?"Um, excuse me, but hot pot is my favorite food. Don't hotpot-splain to me.Anyway, after that hiccup, I was seated and eventually everyone in my group of 8 arrived. Some later than others... Leo.The broth arrived and oh boy - I selected super spicy on the menu, and it certainly looked the part. Barely any water but tons of delicious, spicy tallow and covered in Sichuan peppercorns with many dried chiles. My mouth instantly began to water. The sauce bar is very nice here, not only clean and comprehensive but with (mercifully) ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS! I love trying new stuff but I like to at least have an inkling of what I'm adding.Food comes, and really, it's all so good. The beef and lamb were fresh and sliced well, the wagyu was rich and tender, the meatballs and shrimp and mushrooms and yada yada yada. No complaints. The bill was even reasonable, for ensuring that 8 people were stuffed to the point of busting, and we couldn't even finish everything, the bill with tax was ~$380. I've spent a lot more and gotten a lot less.Parking is difficult and they take credit cards.Overall, great place, I'm very happy to have tried it. It's not so convenient to me, but if you're in the southern-ish portion of the east bay it's a great option.
